A four-year-old boy was tragically killed after he was struck by a bus while visiting his gran in hospital.
Heartbreaking tributes have poured in for little Jan who was hit at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (QEQM) Hospital in Margate, Kent, at roughly 4pm on Thursday. The bus, a white single decker vehicle, was travelling near the entrance to the A&E department. Jan left the hospital on foot where the collision took place, before he was rushed back inside the hospital and sadly pronounced dead a short while later. Jan, who was the youngest of five siblings, died only six days after his cousin's mum.
A GoFundMe was launched by Jan's mum to help cover the costs of his funeral. It reads: "My name is Azaria, today on the 7th of August 2025, me and my family went to visit our mum at Margate hospital. And my son who is only four-years-old fell under a bus and he died immediately.
"I am so lost, he was my son, my most beautiful little Jan. I don't know what to do I can't believe you are gone from me. I can't believe they couldn't save you, I can't believe this happened. I didn't even get to tell you how much I love you.
Please if anyone can help us to make his burial as beautiful as he was please I will be so grateful. Everyone is devastated, but that word doesn't feel like enough to explain how we are all feeling."
A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage are sought by officers investigating a fatal collision in Margate. Kent Police was called to Ramsgate Road shortly after 4pm on Thursday 7 August 2025 following a report of an incident involving a bus and a pedestrian outside Queen Elizabeth Queen Margaret Hospital.
"The bus, a white single decker vehicle, was travelling near the entrance to the A&E department. It is reported that the pedestrian, a four year old boy, left the hospital on foot and a collision took place. The child was taken inside the hospital and a short while later was sadly confirmed deceased. His next of kin has been informed."

Maria added that she never expected this horror attack to happen as the teen walked the same way most days. She added: "I thought she was going to be fine because she walks to her bus stop every morning. I never thought anything would happen to her." ‌ Tracy's stepdad, Carlos Ramirez, revealed the teen needed 500 stitches for the bites and cuts she received from the animals. He said: "It was not one dog or two dogs, it was a lot. I mean, they bit every part of her body you could think of except for her ankles." The teenager has been released from hospital but her parents say the 17-year-old cannot walk on her own due to her injuries. A GoFundMe page has been set up by Tracy's family to help fund her medical costs and help with her recovery. The page wrote: "She was getting ready to do her senior year of high school this year. "Now, because of this, she has to stay home and go to several doctor's appointments and rehab. Due to the trauma, she cannot sleep at night; she's having nightmares."
