10 of London's best rooftop bars for summer

Metro20-06-2025
It sure is hot here in the UK and down south the heatwave is sizzling in London.
But there's nothing quite like a tipple in the summer sun, so if you're in search of somewhere with stellar views and a light breeze, a rooftop bar is the way to go.
Whether you want to gaze out toward The Shard, indulge in some delicious food, or have a boogie while the DJ plays – we think we've got something for everyone.
So, if you're in need of some inspiration for your next night out, Metro has 10 picks of the city's best rooftop venues…
When you're 11 floors up at this rooftop bar with views of the Gherkin and St Pauls, there are few views that rival it.
The award-winning Florattica is known for its iconic flower ceiling, al fresco dining and a DJ that brings the coolest vibes – it's a spot you don't want to miss.
Be sure to try some of its experimental cocktails, and line your stomach with a selection of small plates and fresh pasta.
Location: Level 11, Canopy by Hilton London City, 11-15 Minories, EC3N 1AX Tube: Aldgate (Circle or Metropolitan lines)
If you're a sucker for Italian-ish drinks, small dishes and stunning views then Forza Wine is another great find.
Yes, there's wine, but the cocktail menu is another great selling point, with a rhubarb manhattan, apple tom collins and even a frozen cucumber margarita.
There's two locations but Peckham really takes the cake.
Location: The Rooftop, 133A Rye Lane, London, SE15 4BQ Train: Peckham Rye (connects to Jubilee and Northern Lines)
You'll get some pretty unparalleled views of the skyline at this iconic venue, and although it's located mainly indoors it'll feel as though you're out in the open thanks to the surrounding greenery and huge picture windows.
There are two bars to choose from – Sky Pod and City Garden – where you can sip your cocktail or G&T while watching the sunset, as well as three restaurants within the building.
It's a must-visit, although be aware it doesn't come cheap – cocktails start at around £15, while the cheapest glass of wine will set you back a tenner.
Location: Rooftop, Mercury House, 109-117 Waterloo Road London, SE1 8UL Tube: Waterloo (Northern, Bakerloo and Jubilee Lines) https://www.instagram.com/p/DKPQZFboD8w/
Moving further west, you can soak up the sunshine and the views at the Paddington-based Pergola – which has the feel of a beach venue with its rattan fixtures and fittings and palm trees dotted around.
As well as cocktails you can also make the most of street food vendors serving up fried chicken, burgers and Japanese dishes (at time of writing: the menu changes from time to time).
There's also a bottomless brunch on Sundays, and a DJ at weekends spinning timeless classics.
You can book in advance if visiting in a group but there's space for walk-ins too.
Location: 5 Kingdom St, London W2 6PY Tube: Paddington (Bakerloo, Hammersmith and City, Circle, District and Elizabeth Lines) https://www.instagram.com/p/DKpbw4cM8pE/
Having opened in 2023, this rooftop gem has already made an impression, becoming very popular on TikTok.
Offering stunning vistas of the iconic London skyline and lounge tables to get comfy on, it's the perfect place to unwind.
Offering a unique blend of Japanese and Mexican food including sushi andtacos, you can indulge in delicious light but tasty bites.
There's also Sunday sessions from 1pm to 9pm which offer DJ sets as you watch the sun go down.
Location: 9th Floor, 100 Liverpool Street, London, EC2M 2AT Tube: Liverpool Street (Elizabeth, Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City, and Metropolitan lines) https://www.instagram.com/p/DLFXBiaN94V/
In the heart of Soho you can indulge in a Turkish-inspired menu and divine cocktails at Yasmin.
You can use this as a go-to spot for date nights, a catch up with friends or even private dining, six floors up.
The best bites on offer are the sumac duck, chicken shish and the whipped sheep's cheese and flatbread.
Location: 1 Warwick St, London W1B 5LR Tube: Piccadilly Circus (Piccadilly line and the Bakerloo line)
For those who like the finer things in life, venture to Seabird which offers panoramic views at 14 floors up, and oysters.
At the top of The Hoxton you can indulge in some sangria, which is perfect for the sorching summer, or even frozen mojitos.
It even has a late-night residency with Ronnie Scott offering classic jazz and bespoke martinis.
Location: 40 Blackfriars Road, London, United Kingdom SE1 8PB Tube: Southwark (Jubilee line) https://www.instagram.com/p/DKsCR0uBuD4/
If you prefer to glance out at Tower Bridge then head 12 floors up to Savage Garden.
Indulge in live music, good wine and very funky cocktails – but it is on the pricier side.
Perched on top of the Double Tree by Hilton it's elegant and chic, but it gets very busy so you'll probably want to book in advance.
Location: Savage Garden, 7, Pepys Street, EC3N 4AF Tube: Tower Hill (Circle and District lines)
Now hear us out on this one because it's atop the John Lewis flagship store, but it's a true find.
Offering a stunning rooftop escape with breathtaking city views, private greenhouses, and an elegant open-air terrace, it's great for a laid back afternoon with friends.
The menu features fruit-forward brambles; Kumquat Old Fashioned; and a Calamansi Margarita with a spiced ancho chili rim.
As the sun sets, live DJ sets on Friday and Saturday nights set the mood, making 1864 the ultimate spot for an elevated rooftop experience in the heart of London.
Location: Sixth floor, 300 Oxford St, London W1C 1DX Tube: Oxford Circus and Bond Street (Bakerloo, Central, and Victoria lines and Jubilee and Elizabeth lines)
Located on the 10th floor of the ME London hotel, Radio Rooftop not only offers a superb cocktail list, but also a 360-degree views that shows off the capital's skyline and the River Thames. More Trending
It's a fabulous spot to chill out with a drink, as well as enjoy dishes from the seasonal menu – but be aware that it doesn't come cheap.
A glass of champagne will set you back around £16, while a cocktail comes in at around £19.

Its final service will be held on Saturday, August 23. The restauranteur is handing over the reins to the Fitzrovia-based eatery to Portuguese chef and friend Leandro Carreira. Nuno wrote on social media: 'Dear Friends, after an incredible journey of almost four years, Lisboeta as we know it will be coming to an end this Fall. 'We've had an amazing ride and it's fantastic to see the love and support of our patrons from the day we opened our doors. 'I feel proud of the fact that we've helped to cement Portuguese food culture here in London and beyond. 'Our incredible teams, past and present, through their passion, dedication and hard work have made this possible. Our successes couldn't have been achieved without you. "Thank you to you all. Lisboeta is a deeply personal passion project to me and a brand that I would like to continue to grow and develop internationally. 'It's first steps will be into Lisbon but then we will go to other territories further away. 'I will continue to focus on my projects in Portugal, Cozinha das Flores and The Largo in Porto as well as Santa Joana in Lisbon. 'Both are going from strength to strength and we still have many goals to achieve." He continued: 'The site of Lisboeta will stay and my dear friend and colleague, Leandro Carreira will be launching an exciting new project with the team from MJMK. "It's called LUSO and I'm sure it will be a great addition to the London food scene. I'm excited to try it! 'LUSO will offer something new, rooted in our shared culture but seen through Leo's contemporary lens. I have no doubt it will be extraordinary. 'Last but not least, thank you to Marco, Jake and the whole team at MJMK for believing in Portuguese food and for coming along on this journey. I wish you lots of success in this and all of your ventures. 'Thank you friends and I hope to see you either in Portugal or in London someday soon.' Restaurant group MJMK, which owns the site, will transform the space into Luso, reopening in September after a refurbishment. MJMK co-founder Marco Mendes and Jake Kasumov said the decision was mutual and made 'on a high note' after more than four years working with the chef. 'We've been working with Nuno for well over four years and remain big fans. But in that time he's taken on other projects, so after three years of Lisboeta we all sat down and made a plan. "We thought it would be best to end on a high. He'll focus on his restaurants in Portugal, and we're relaunching with a new love letter to Portugal in Luso.' They added that the new restaurant will be more casual in tone and said: 'We've been working with Leandro to develop a straightforward, traditional Portuguese restaurant — one not so much about the chef, but the country. 'We're not trying to be cheffy. We want to focus on simple, slightly elevated Portuguese dishes made with simple ingredients. Pricing will be similar, maybe a little lower. "We want to be busy all the time, especially at lunch when people can come in for a beer and a sandwich.' 3 The high-profile eatery will be turned into a 'traditional' Portuguese restaurant Credit: Instagram

Iconic rock band warn they'll ‘never play many cities again' in devastating tour

An iconic rock band have announced they are 'unlikely to play many of the cities' on their upcoming tour 'ever again'. After forming in 1993 in Madison, Wisconsin, Garbage's eponymous 1995 debut album saw them take off, selling over four million copies and achieving double platinum certification in the UK, the US, and Australia. The band's line up has remained unchanged since its conception and consists of Scottish singer Shirley Manson and American musicians Duke Erikson, Steve Marker and Butch Vig. Some of the band's most notable songs have included Stupid Girl and Only Happy When It Rains. Over the past 32 years they've sold over 17 million albums worldwide and been nominated for 7 Grammy and 2 Brit Awards. However, they've now told fans that their upcoming US tour marks what will likely be their last shows ever in many cities. Sharing the news on Instagram, they wrote: 'Yesterday saw the commencement of rehearsals for our last North American headline tour . We haven't played an extensive headline tour like this one in the States for almost a decade. If the truth be told, it is unlikely we will play many of the cities on this tour ever again. 'We are going out on the road with the spectacular @starcrawler, fronted by superstar @arrowdewilde, who is one of the most exciting front people of her generation. 'We are going out in style, and we hope you will join us. That's life my friends. Nothing stays the same forever. Everything must change. All beautiful things come to an end. We love you. From all of us in garbage.' Responding to the news, fans didn't appear shocked by the band's news, but expressed their excitement at getting to see them soon. 'Not unexpected but still bittersweet. I want to thank you for this tour. It's a privilege to get to see you perform a headlining show one last time. I love you all. I can't wait to see you in DC!' Lori commented. 'I suspected this news might come. We (the fans) are so grateful for everything you've given us for over 30 years. You've literally soundtracked the majority of my life, and no matter what happens, your legacy and back catalogue will continue to do so. Without expectation, I'm still going to hope that Happy Endings reaches the UK and Europe. Have an absolute blast on this tour. You deserve to celebrate everything!' Dan wrote. 'Just hope you continue to make music. I had the privilege to see you live in 2016 in Indianapolis and it was a highlight of my life,' Sean added. Garbage will begin their Happy Endings tour on September 3 in Orlando, Florida, travelling to 35 other US and Canadian cities, before wrapping up in Mexico City, Mexico on November 14. Last year they'd been forced to cancel a string of shows after Manson required 'surgery and rehabilitation' for an undisclosed injury that she'd suffered on tour in Europe earlier in the year. Around the same time she spoke to Metro, detailing a difficult decade facing health problems, but how she felt grateful for still being able to perform. 'As I get older and older, I realise I don't know how much time I have left,' she explained. More Trending 'It's something that doesn't cross your mind when you're 18 years old. But now every show feels really precious to me. 'When I used to come and play shows, I'd be like, 'Oh, we can come back and get them next time'. Whereas now, I'm like, 'I don't know if I'll ever come back to play.' 'It adds a certain gravitas to the experience, but it also peppers the tour with magic because I feel I must enjoy it and revel in it.' Got a story? Former Strictly Come Dancing boss issues defiant defence of scandal-hit show

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A former Strictly Come Dancing boss has defended the series amid its numerous scandals and ongoing backlash. Moira Ross, a highly experienced executive producer and show runner, has worked on a number of major reality series such as The Voice UK as well as Dancing with the Stars and The Masked Singer in the US. In 2010, she was responsible for relaunching Strictly on the BBC, reigniting the show's popularity to its highest ever viewing figures and seeing it go on to become a multi-award winner. However, speaking ahead of the release of her latest Apple TV project KPOPPED – a competition which pits music icons against K-pop idols – the producer has hit back against rumours that shows such as Strictly could be facing cancellation due to lower viewing figures. In recent years, the BBC series has been plagued by a series of controversies, including when two former professionals, Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima, were removed after behavioural accusations from former partners were revealed. Following that, Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans, 53, was sensationally dumped from the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour over inappropriate comments. Most recently, police confirmed an investigation into Strictly after claims two of its stars used cocaine. This came after a longtime worker said they were offered drugs by a star on the show. But, asked what she made of claims that the show may not have a future, Moira vehemently argued: 'I think they're all coming from the same place. 'They're all coming from big hearted, wonderful entertainment, and we need that and we're always going to be enjoying that. 'Look how successful Glastonbury is, Strictly is still monumentally successful. 'We love to be entertained, music's a common language. I don't think we're ever going to get sick of huge, wonderful, aspirational entertainment shows. We just want more and more of them.' Moira's latest show KPOPPED sees the likes of the Spice Girls, Boy George, Kesha and Vanilla Ice reimagine their hit songs in collaboration with K-pop stars before they compete in battle performances judged by an audience in Seoul. Starring PSY and Megan Thee Stallion, the eight-episode series sees two worlds – the East and West – combine. Asked where the inspiration for the show came from, Moira said: 'The idea was to explore a brand new sort of music genre, a music show that hasn't been attempted before. 'Something aspirational and celebrational, and something that takes us away from those traditional music shows that are quite wonderful, but it's time for it's for a new a new spin on things.' Discussing her hope for viewers, she also added: 'I would like people to find absolute joy in it. 'I'd love them to want to know even more about K pop and take their next holidays in Korea. I'd love that. I'd think, 'We've done something great here.' 'But really, it's just a proper celebration of cultural crossovers. And if we can enjoy that, then we've done our job.' KPOPPED premieres exclusively on Apple TV Plus on Friday August 29. Got a story?
