President Bill Clinton has weighed in on Joe Biden's health, saying he never doubted the former president's mental state once.
Biden was diagnosed with an "aggressive form" of prostate cancer with metastasis to the bone, his office revealed on May 18, after Biden faced significant scrutiny over his health throughout his presidency and during his brief 2024 reelection campaign.
The news has sparked speculation about whether Biden and the White House knew about his declining health earlier while carrying out a cover-up.
But Clinton has said Biden was in "good shape" when he saw him last.
"I saw President Biden not very long ago, and I thought he was in good shape," he told CBS Sunday Morning. "I had never seen him and walked away thinking, he can't do this anymore."
He went to say that he had not read Original Sin, a book written by CNN journalist Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson in which several named insiders claim the former U.S. president was faltering physically and cognitively in a decline that was hidden from the American public.
"I didn't want to because he's not president anymore, and I think he did a good job," Clinton said. "I think we are facing challenges today with our president in our history. And some people are trying to use this as a way to blame him for the fact that Trump was reelected."

Abortion rights groups, such as the American Civil Liberties Union, criticized the administration and accused President Donald Trump of walking back on a campaign promise not to interfere with abortion access. "By rescinding this guidance, the Trump administration has sent a clear signal that it is siding not with the majority, but with its anti-abortion allies -- and that will come at the expense of women's lives," Alexa Kolbi-Molinas, deputy director of the ACLU's Reproductive Freedom Project, said in a statement. "The ACLU will use every lever we have to keep President Trump and his administration from endangering our health and lives." The Biden administration's guidance has faced legal challenges in the past. In January 2024, a federal appeals court ruled that Texas hospitals and doctors are not required to perform emergency abortions despite the guidance.

Days after the Space X chief and President Trump revealed at the White House that Musk's role at DOGE would be severely narrowed – possibly over his growing dislike of the Republican-backed bill – the X owner could hold his tongue no longer. Kehoe, White House offer differing status updates of federal disaster assistance for May 16 tornadoes
ST. LOUIS – Two weeks ago, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe requested President Donald Trump issue a federal emergency declaration for the state of Missouri in response to the May 16 tornadoes and severe storms. Last week, Kehoe asked the president to approve a federal disaster declaration. Neither have been approved yet. 'No city is equipped to deal with a disaster the size of this tornado, period. And we need FEMA; we need FEMA's help,' St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer said. But Spencer noted Monday that getting FEMA's help is a process. 'We are not the oldest, in fact, we are the newest application,' she said. 'We do have the support of our governor, and I am going to remain constructive and hopeful through this process, because I believe it's the best way for us to move forward in the best shot at getting the federal partnership that we need to be able to best serve our community.' FEMA representatives have been in St. Louis as part of joint preliminary damage assessments (PDAs). FEMA headquarters sent its recommendations to President Trump. Now, it's up to the president—and only the president—to issue the federal declaration. The governor's office tells FOX 2 News that Kehoe and his team continue to be in discussions with the White House as well as Missouri's federal delegation regarding this FEMA request. They do not have any further updates at this time. FOX 2 also contacted the White House for an update. A White House official responded with the following statement: The President responds to each request for Federal assistance under the Stafford Act with great care and consideration, ensuring American tax dollars are used appropriately and efficiently by the states to supplement—not substitute, their obligation to respond to and recover from disasters. While the President's decisions are communicated directly to the Governor of an affected State, the Trump administration remains committed to empowering and working with State and local governments to invest in their own resilience before disaster strikes, making response less urgent and recovery less prolonged.
