Katie Holmes shone as she attended the Tod's Cocktail Party in New York, just a day after her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, made a somewhat cold remark about their daughter, Suri.
Katie Holmes turned heads in the Big Apple on Tuesday, despite the fact that her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, had made an awkward remark about their daughter just a day prior. The pair, once Tinseltown's golden couple before calling it quits in 2012, have since seen their daughter Suri distance herself from her famous dad and even drop his surname last year.
Tom's subtle nod to their chilly connection caught media attention when he responded with a laid-back "just having fun, man" upon being quizzed about his Father's Day plans on Monday. However, undeterred by his blunt response, Katie dazzled at the Tod's Cocktail Party in New York City the following evening.

Accessorising her ensemble perfectly, Holmes opted for tan leather heels and carried a cream Tod's bag adorned with a golden fastener while mingling with top-tier celebrities like Christian Slater and 'Sherlock' actor Andrew Scott, during the Italian label's glamorous affair.
This fashion showcase followed an incident where Cruise seemed somewhat surprised when an E! News reporter approached him with questions about Father's Day during the Mexico premiere of Mission Impossible - The Final Reckoning, reports the Mirror.
He was asked: "Father's Day is just around the corner. What would an ideal Father's Day look like for you?" Pausing, the actor mused: " "You know..." before saying: "Just having fun, man. Making movies, big adventures, having a great time."
However, not all of Tom's fans were pleased with his response. One fan responded to a video of the brief interview on YouTube, sarcastically suggesting: "Seeing the daughter he has abandoned for a decade perhaps?"
Another person accused the Top Gun star of being "not interested in answering the father question" and branded his relationship with Suri "his biggest failure".
Some were taken aback by the journalist's question, but the general consensus was that Tom should have provided a different answer.
Another fan replied: "A simple question about Father's Day and he can't answer it. He has gotten to a point where all he can talk about is movies and his love of movies. What about being a parent, Tom? There was a time when that was important to you. Sad for this man."
During her graduation ceremony last year, Suri announced she had dropped Tom's surname and was now known by just her first and middle name - Suri Noelle.
She is currently studying at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania and frequently travels back to New York to spend time with her mum, Katie, with whom she shares a very close bond.
