The Sun07-06-2025
I PRIDE myself on being a great gift giver, and with Father's Day fast approaching, I've scoured the shelves to find the best grooming gifts out there – so you're guaranteed to be in the good books.

Next The Well Groomed Essentials box, £20, next.co.uk: If you're on a budget, but want to spoil your dad, this is the best bet.
The seven products work out at less than £3 a pop, but would cost £77 if bought separately.
There are cult brands such as Emma Hardie, Dr Paw Paw and This Works, alongside grooming heroes such as Hawkins & Brimble daily energising moisturiser 100ml(worth £15 alone) and Percy Nobleman caffeine shampoo & body wash 200ml (worth £13).
With its range of products, it's a real beginner's starter kit – so you don't need to be into grooming to enjoy it.
MID RANGE
LookFantastic The Father's Day Edit, £45, lookfantastic.com: Worth £180, this gift set undoubtedly gives you the best bang for your buck.
There are nine grooming products – six of which are full-sized, including REN Clean Skincare Everhydrate marine moisture serum, which has an RRP of £40, almost paying for the entire box itself.
Among the miniatures, is a deluxe-size Elemis pro-collagen energising marine cleanser, and even a travel-friendly Jo Malone cypress and grapevine intense cologne, which is a rare find.
The edit is slightly more skincare-focused than Next's box, so one for dads into self-care.

LUXURY
Dior Sauvage Skincare Ritual Kit, £103, dior.com: Dior Sauvage seems to be the go-to fragrance for pretty much every man in London, and when I gifted my brother skincare from the franchise for Christmas, he was over the moon.
The three-step routine is suitable for all skin types.
It features a charcoal-based cleanser to balance oil production; a soothing toner that contains cactus water to reduce redness; and a nourishing serum that promises to keep skin moisturised for 100 hours – although, you really should be washing and reapplying in that time.
PICK OF THE WEEK
IF your dad is more into fragrance than skincare, there are two new limited-edition scents to sniff out.
Armani Stronger With You Sandalwood, £122 for 100ml, is rich and leathery with notes of spicy saffron, creamy chestnut and smokey wood.
It feels like pure luxury.
Hugo Boss – Boss Bottled Bold Citrus, £52.99 for 50ml, is lighter, with notes of lemon, bergamot and patchouli. See theperfumeshop.com.

Hundreds of Kneecap fans descend on court to support rapper, 27, accused of displaying Hezbollah flag during gig

Hundreds of Kneecap fans gathered outside Westminster Magistrates Court today to support one of its members ahead of his anticipated appearance, after he was charged with a terrorism offence. Liam Og O hAnnaidh, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, is accused of displaying a flag in support of the terrorist group Hezbollah at a gig in November last year, 'in such a way or in such a circumstance as to arouse reasonable suspicion that he is a supporter of a proscribed organisation'. The 27-year-old was charged with a terrorism offence following an alleged incident during a gig at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on 21 November 2024. Ahead of the hearing, the rap band urged their admirers to 'show up for Kneecap' outside Westminster Magistrates Court. As the band arrived at the court just after 9.30am, the crowd erupted into cheers and shouts. Scores of fans, journalists and reporters charged the musicians as they exited their vehicle and crammed against the entrance of Westminster Magistrates Court doors. Some of the band members were concealing their faces with red, black and white Keffiyeh scarves. In a series of Instagram infographics, the band said: 'The attack on Mo Chara of Kneecap is part of a broader crackdown on solidarity with Palestine. 'British terrorism legislation was first brought in against the Irish liberation struggle. 'Today it is being used to repress and censor all those who stand with Palestine, against British support for Zionism. 'Defend the right to defend Palestine.' Fans who gathered outside the courts were seen waving Irish and Palestinian flags while holding signs stating: 'Free Mo Chara', 'F*** you Netanyahu' and 'Kneecap: Rap for what is right'. Many protesters also draped themselves in Keffiyehs - a type of Arabic scarf often associated with supporters of the pro-Palestine movement - while others were seen sporting high-vis vests. At the centre of the demonstration, campaigners erected a stage for performances of music as well as speeches. Meanwhile, dozens of police officers arrived outside the courtroom at around 9am while chants of 'free, free Palestine' and 'free, free Mo Chara' rang out through the streets as protesters anxiously awaited the arrival of Kneecap.

The most expensive-looking supermarket handbags - including Asda's £20 Ganni-inspired bag

If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more There's nothing quite like the thrill of spotting a designer dupe that's so convincing, you have to do a double-take. And this week, we've found one in the most unexpected of places: Asda 's clothing section. George at Asda's burgundy twisted handle cross-body bag looks remarkably similar to Ganni's £374 Bou embellished knotted leather shoulder bag. Despite Asda's being priced at just £20, the resemblance is clear: the distinctive knotted handle design; the structured, geometric shape; and the rich burgundy tone that's perfect for heading into autumn. Even the detailed gold hardware clasp has a distinct feel of luxury about it. George at Asda Twisted Handle Cross-Body £20 Shop Of course, the price does reflect in the materials. Asda's bag is faux leather, while Ganni's is that gorgeous supple leather that only improves with age. But honestly, with a price difference of more than £350, we're willing to overlook it. Asda isn't the only supermarket chain serving up designer-inspired pieces that won't break the bank. From a roomy Sainsbury's buy in a chic woven style to a bang-on-trend suede tote from Tesco, these are the pieces to keep an eye out for when you're doing your weekly shop. Your bank account will thank you for it. Channel 4 star chef closing restaurant for good after just three months over ‘unforeseen circumstances'

A CHANNEL 4 star chef has made the decision to close his restaurant for good after just three months. Chef Dom Taylor will shut up shop later this month at his Marvee's Food Shop in Ladbroke Grove, West London, due to 'unforeseen circumstances'. 3 3 The Caribbean restaurant just opened in May as part of the music and events space UNDR, near the famous Portobello Road. Taylor rose to fame as the winner of Channel 4 's Five Star Kitchen: Britain's Next Great Chef. In a message on Instagram, Taylor said: 'Due to unforeseen circumstances, Marvee's Food Shop at UNDR will soon be coming to an end, after some fun this Carnival Weekend. 'We have a few remaining tables this Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd, so make sure to come along and say your farewells (for now)! 'From 27th onwards the chefs who have been working with Dom at UNDR will continue serving up their own menu of Caribbean food, following the success of Marvee's so make sure to keep showing them your love! 'UNDR was the first home for Marvee's Food Shop, and we have loved welcoming all of our wonderful guests over the past few months. Watch this space!' Before opening Marvee's, Taylor had a 10-month residency with the Good Front Room restaurant at the Langham in central London. When it opened Taylor described it as a tribute to the traditional Caribbean takeaway. On the menu at Marvee's were Caribbean classics, including Bammy, a traditional cassava bread, and the Jamaican Festival, a deep-fried sweet bread, reinvented as waffles, with a selection of toppings including jerk chicken, crispy spiced banana blossom or boneless goat curry, The Caterer reports. Reviewing the restaurant for the Evening Standard, critic David Ellis gave it three stars, saying: 'The pork is good but perhaps no more than that.' Major BBC chef on why he'll never appear on TV again Earlier this month, a BBC‑featured chef abruptly closed down his UK Top 100 restaurant. Deri Reed has called time on The Warren admitted bluntly: 'it hasn't been working for some time" in a social media post. His eatery in Carmarthen, Wales, has long enjoyed acclaim - and not just from the critics. Last month as well, celebrity chef Roy Ner closed Jeru, his Mediterranean themed restaurant Jeru. It has been a tough time in hospitality with a number of celebrity chefs feeling the heat - and not just in the kitchen. Those to have closed sites include the ultimate celebrity cook, Gordon Ramsay, and renowned French chef Anne-Sophie Pic. Many of those shutting their doors have highlighted economic circumstances, which have made it increasingly difficult to make a profit. Expert analysis By Laura McGuire Experts say the cost of living crisis has left customers favouring a cheap dinner over splashing out on fancy evenings out in expensive restaurants, and this has made celeb chefs think twice about whether it's worth continuing to run their business. Paul Lochhead, managing director of Drinkstuff, told The Sun: "For celebrity chefs, these ventures are often passion projects rather than primary revenue sources. "If a restaurant isn't performing well, it may not be worth the continued investment, especially when compared to the other income streams they have." Dr Marc Stierand, director of the institute of business creativity at EHL Hospitality Business School, added that restaurants with one Michelin Star - of which there are around 170 in the UK - may struggle compared to top-end restaurants. "For restaurants with one-star, they are not 'cool' enough to attract international travellers. These restaurants could be empty most days, and the market is very weak now, so it's just far too expensive [to run them]," he explained. Do you have a money problem that needs sorting?
