While Bitcoin Hits a New Price Record, Critics Still Have These Warnings for Crypto Investors
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) may have hit a new all-time high of $112,000 in May, but it's not out of the woods quite yet. Already, Bitcoin has retreated back down to the $105,000 level, and there are some critics warning about a further decline in price. While the long-term outlook for Bitcoin might be bullish, there could be quite a bit of uncertainty and volatility over the second half of 2025. Here are three key factors keeping the Bitcoin skeptics up at night. Tariff and trade uncertainty As long as tariffs continue to dominate the headlines, they will continue to have a direct impact on how investors view the crypto market. As a result, it's been a see-saw year for Bitcoin. After hitting an all-time high in January, Bitcoin dropped as low as $75,000 after President Donald Trump announced the new Liberation Day tariffs on April 2. Bitcoin has subsequently recovered, but every week seems to bring some new twist or turn in the tariff debate. The newest factor is the worsening state of the trade negotiations involving the U.S. and China. At one time, it looked like some kind of trade deal might be worked out by mid-summer. Now, it looks like the two sides are further apart than ever. So how will Bitcoin investors react? If they view Bitcoin as a safe haven asset, they might move even more money into Bitcoin, thereby boosting its price. However, if they view Bitcoin as a risky and volatile digital asset, then they might sell off, just as they did in April. Unfinished business in Washington When President Trump came into office in January, the future looked very bright indeed for Bitcoin. New crypto legislation looked like it would be ready to sign soon, and crypto enthusiasts were excited about upcoming Bitcoin initiatives from the Trump White House. However, five months into the presidency, and there's still a lot of unfinished business. Take the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, for example. Yes, Trump signed an executive order for its creation in March, but it delivered much less punch than many people expected. Most importantly, the executive order failed to outline how the government planned to buy Bitcoin in the future. As a result, investors are still waiting on some form of legislation, such as the BITCOIN Act proposed by Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), that will precisely outline a mechanism for buying more Bitcoin. On top of all that, there are now questions swirling around the Trump family's connections to Bitcoin. At the very least, there appear to be potential conflicts of interest. For example, Donald Trump's media company -- Trump Media & Technology Group -- recently divulged plans to buy $2.5 billion worth of Bitcoin. And members of the Trump family now have interests in a variety of Bitcoin-related projects. The four-year Bitcoin cycle Historically, Bitcoin has followed a fairly predictable pattern of boom and bust. The four-year Bitcoin cycle starts with a period of quiet accumulation, followed by a period of rapid growth. This leads to a Bitcoin bubble filled with hype and speculation. After that comes the crash. For example, the 2020-2021 rally that saw Bitcoin hit a (then) all-time high of $69,000 was quickly followed by a disastrous market crash that saw it lose 65% of its value in 2022. And the same pattern may be happening again. If history is any guide, then the final phase of the Bitcoin cycle could be arriving soon. Thus, even if Bitcoin soars to $150,000 this year, it might have a hard time holding on to those gains heading into 2026. If you'd have waited until now to buy Bitcoin, you might be buying at or close to the top of the market. By the end of 2025, it might already be too late. Only a 22% chance of failure? The good news is that most Bitcoin investors are remarkably bullish these days. According to online prediction markets, Bitcoin only has a 22% chance of falling below the $70,000 price level, and only a 16% chance of falling below the $60,000 price level. Long gone are the days when people regularly prognosticated that Bitcoin could fall all the way to zero. That being said, investors still need to be aware of the risks of investing in Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin never goes straight up. It is highly volatile, filled with many peaks and valleys. If you don't have firm convictions about Bitcoin, it's remarkably easy to buy high and sell low. When it comes to Bitcoin, it's best to keep a long-term perspective. Bitcoin has never been a tariff-proof, inflation-proof, or recession-proof asset. But over a long enough time horizon, it continues to be the top-performing asset in the world. The only catch is that you have to be willing to hold on to it, through good times and bad. Should you invest $1,000 in Bitcoin right now? Robert Kiyosaki Just Warned ‘Millions Will Be Wiped Out' in ‘Biggest Crash in History,' But Says Do This To ‘Become Very Rich'
Robert Kiyosaki, the renowned author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, has issued a stark warning to investors, claiming that the 'biggest crash in history' is imminent and could unfold throughout the summer of 2025. In a tweet now viewed by millions, Kiyosaki referenced his 2013 book Rich Dad's Prophecy, asserting that his long-standing prediction of a historic financial collapse is now coming to fruition. This comes at a time of extreme market volatility and uncertainty due to ongoing trade wars, high interest rates, inflation concerns, and more. However, Kiyosaki does say there is hope for investors who are willing to invest intelligently and capitalize on the current opportunities the market is presenting. A Dire Warning for Boomers and Traditional Investors Kiyosaki's message is particularly pointed toward Baby Boomers, whom he believes are at greatest risk. He predicts that millions in his generation could see their retirement savings and investments 'wiped out' as stocks, bonds, and real estate markets tumble. 'Crash time is now and through this summer,' Kiyosaki posted, emphasizing that the downturn will not be limited to equities but will extend across all major asset classes. Amid the anticipated chaos, Kiyosaki forecasts a massive migration of capital into alternative assets — specifically gold, silver, and Bitcoin (BTCUSD). He argues that as traditional markets falter, 'billions will rush into gold, silver, and Bitcoin,' with these assets serving as safe havens during the turmoil. Silver: The 'Biggest Bargain' of 2025 While Kiyosaki remains bullish on gold (GCQ25) and Bitcoin, he singles out silver as the most compelling opportunity. He claims silver (SIN25), currently trading around $35 an ounce, is still 60% below its all-time high and could triple in value by the end of 2025. 'The biggest bargain today is silver. In 2025 silver may 3X,' he wrote, urging investors to buy physical silver rather than exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which he dismisses as 'fake money.' 'Silver is priced around $35 an ounce, which means almost everyone anywhere in the world…has a chance to grow richer…while millions grow poorer,' Kiyosaki stated, encouraging followers to act decisively to protect and grow their wealth. Don't Miss: Advice: Take Action or Be Left Behind Kiyosaki's message is clear: those who are proactive and shift their portfolios into what he calls 'real assets' may not only preserve their wealth but could become 'extremely rich' during the downturn. He ended his tweet with a call to action: 'What are you going to do tomorrow…grow richer or grow poorer? Please choose to get richer.' However, critics have pointed out that Kiyosaki has called '9 of the last 0 market crashes.' Resurfaced tweets show he has made similar calls in December of 2023, July of 2023, September of 2022, and September of 2021. His track record suggests that while it's good to be wary of market conditions, as is true at any time as a prudent investor, it's unclear how much stock you should actually put into his latest warning. Regardless, it's never a bad idea to consistently reassess your portfolio, adjust to the times, and hedge your bets. 3 Crypto-Centric Stocks in Focus on the Ongoing Bitcoin Rally
The cryptocurrency rally has slowed over the past few days, but it is far from over as positive investor sentiment continues to boost the market. Bitcoin (BTC), which hit an all-time high last week, has also slipped over the past few days, but is still well above the $100,000 mark. The recent decline comes as profit-taking is underway, with big whales selling Bitcoin over the past week. However, slowing inflation and easing trade tensions have raised hopes of the Federal Reserve resuming rate cuts in the coming months, which bodes well for cryptocurrencies. Given this situation, it would be ideal to invest in crypto-focused stocks. We have selected three stocks, namely Visa Inc. V, PayPal Holdings PYPL and CME Group Inc. 's CME. Each of these stocks has strong growth potential for 2025 and has seen positive earnings estimate revisions in the last 90 days. Bitcoin Holding Its Ground Bitcoin hit an all-time high of $111,886.41 last week. Since then, the cryptocurrency has pulled back marginally and was hovering around $104,500 on Wednesday night. Bitcoin has dropped 0.7% in the past week, but the decline is primarily because of the profit-taking by big whales. Between May and June, Bitcoin has stayed above the $100,000 mark for the longest period — 27 days, and 25 days at a stretch. The ongoing Bitcoin rally is being fueled by several encouraging developments, such as easing trade tensions, rising hopes for favorable U.S. crypto regulations, and growing interest from institutional investors. Moreover, investors have lately shrugged off trade tensions since President Donald Trump announced a temporary halt on tariffs. Also, the United States and China agreed to a 90-day pause on new tariffs as part of a trade truce. The White House said earlier this week that Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will talk about trade issues this week. Trade negotiations with other nations are also underway. At the same time, the cryptocurrency industry is seeing encouraging developments on the regulatory side. The GENIUS Act — a proposed bill focused on regulating stablecoins — recently passed a key stage in the Senate. Trump, along with his crypto and AI advisor David Sacks, has also been actively backing pro-crypto policies, boosting investor confidence in the digital currency market. 3 Crypto-Centric Stocks With Upside Visa Inc.
