Jordan Spieth's Special Guest Turns Heads at Byron Nelson Classic

The PGA Tour's 2025 season continued this weekend with the Byron Nelson Classic at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
The tournament brought out the biggest names in the sport of golf including Jordan Spieth, who struggled to keep pace with the event's top golfers heading into Saturday and Sunday's action.

Spieth finished in a tie for 26th place at -6 heading into Saturday, 12 strokes behind the tournament's leader, Scottie Scheffler, who put distance between himself and the field at 18 strokes under par.
Spieth's round was noteworthy not just for his solid if unspectacular performance but also for the presence of a special guest who turned heads on the golf course.

"Bring your son to work day," the PGA Tour wrote on its X account Friday with a ruby red heart emoji.
The account shared a video of Spieth with his son Sammy as the golf superstar signed autographs in front of a throng of supporters at the prestigious golf event.

Spieth's son appeared curious, excited, and at times frightened as he followed his famous father around for pictures and autographs.
"Very nice to see, thank you for sharing," one fan wrote.
"Hopefully he's better than his dad," another fan added, criticizing Spieth for his less-than-stellar round.
The heartwarming video softened the blow of Spieth's less-than-stellar round as he attempted to scrape and claw his way back into contention.

Former MSU golfer Ryan Brehm has rollercoaster first round at Rocket Classic

With the PGA Tour returning for their annual trip to Detroit, the seventh edition of the Rocket Classic began on Thursday at the Detroit Golf Club. Former Spartan Ryan Brehm, a 2008 Michigan State graduate, has been a mainstay on the PGA Tour, and he made another start in Detroit. The Mt. Pleasant (MI) native, Brehm is looking to get his 2025 summer off of the ground, and is looking towards his hometown PGA Tour event to do so. On Thursday, it was an up and down affair for Brehm, who ultimately finished at a 71 (-1). At one point, late in the first round, Brehm was sitting at a very comfortable -3, but back to back bogeys to finish his round left a sour taste in his mouth. While he is a few shoots off of the number to make the weekend, he is still very much in the mix for making his first cut of 2025, but is in need for a big day on Friday. He will tee off at 7:07 a.m. on the first tee, looking for a big day to make the weekend.
