Meet Arnabi Mitra, girl recruited by Amazon as…; not from IIT, IIM, BIT, VIT, NIT, IIIT; she hails from...

After completing class 12, most students try to crack competitive exams like IIT-JEE, CAT, etc, to secure a seat in the prestigious colleges and universities, like IITs and IIMs. It is commonly believed that graduating from a prestigious college guarantees a job in the top companies across the globe, like Google, Microsoft, or Amazon. But does not having a degree from such colleges mean you can't work in top multinational companies? Certainly No. With hard work, commitment, and the right mindset, success can be achieved – regardless of your background. And the inspiring journey of Arnabi Mitra is proof. She did not come from an expensive school or a prestigious institute like IIT. Yet through sheer determination, she has successfully achieved a career milestone that many aspire to. Hailing from West Bengal, Arnabi Mitra finished her early education at local schools in the state. As per her LinkedIn profile, Arnabi studied up to Class 10 at St. Margaret's School and completed her Class 11 and 12 at Bethune School. Instead of opting for an IIT or NIT after Class 12, she chose to pursue her from the Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology (GCELT) in West Bengal. As per LinkedIn profile, Arnabi worked at Infosys for nearly two years, serving as a System Engineer Specialist, Digital Specialist Engineer in Bhubaneswar, and later as a Power Programmer. Arnabi didn't stop at her job in Infosys–she wanted something bigger. She developed her skillset and continued to upgrade. The next target was Amazon, for which she studied for 5-6 months. The last 2 months, she put in tremendous effort. The hard work paid-off, because she cracked the interview at Amazon. Arnabi has now been working at Amazon for nearly three years as a Software Development Engineer (SDE). Depending on experience and role, SDE Salaries at Major companies like Amazon usually range between ₹15.6 lakh to ₹31.1 lakh per annum. 'I am a SDE at Amazon . To brief me, I must say I have a good hold on data structure and Algorithm, I love coding and have an interest in theoretical computer science. I have a youtube channel where I teach and guide people to prepare for coding exams and interviews,' reads her LinkedIn bio.

RBI's rate cut hopes fade as Trump talks high tariffs

US President Donald Trump's surprise tariff announcement is set to weigh on the Reserve Bank of India 's monetary policy decision next week even as a final word on the trade deal is awaited. While most economists were not expecting a back-to-back cut in interest rates after June's unexpectedly large 50-basis-point reduction, Governor Sanjay Malhotra's recent comments had revived hopes of lower rates in the August 6 policy review. More so, as inflation fell to its lowest level in more than six years in June. The currency fell as much as 0.4% to 87.7375 per dollar in early Mumbai trading, approaching its all-time low of 87.9563 in February. Equities also declined, with the NSE Nifty 50 Index falling as much as 0.9%. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo With the US Federal Reserve holding interest rates steady — citing signs of a slowing economy — there is little incentive for emerging markets such as India to ease policy further. Volatility in foreign exchange and interest rates will likely 'feed into RBI's reaction function, partly constraining further near-term easing at a time when inflation dynamics have turned highly favorable,' said Madhavi Arora, economist with Emkay Global Financial Services Ltd . Live Events Economists do not expect the steep US tariffs to significantly hurt the South Asian economy, for now. Last year, nearly a fifth of India's total exports, valued at $81 billion, or 2.1% of the gross domestic product, went to the US. India's economy is relatively closed and driven by 'domestic demand as the mainstay of growth,' which limits the impact, said Aastha Gudwani, India economist with Barclays. She estimated the 25% tariffs could reduce India's GDP growth by around 30 basis points. The tariffs may have an indirect impact through the 'uncertainty channel,' weighing on domestic investment, Goldman Sachs Group economists led by Santanu Sengupta wrote in a note. 'Elevated policy uncertainty in the US can cause Indian firms, particularly those exposed to US tariffs, to postpone investment decisions,' the Goldman economists said, warning of potential downside risks to their growth forecasts for India in calendar years 2025 and 2026. Following Trump's post, India's federal government said it would continue to negotiate for a 'fair, balanced and mutually beneficial,' deal. In remarks to reporters at the White House later on Wednesday, Trump said his team was still in discussions with India. 'Another way to interpret' the latest development is to see it 'as a starting point for renewed negotiation,' wrote Pranjul Bhandari, chief India economist at HSBC Holdings Plc.

CM Yogi Adityanath Launches Youth Conclave and Expo-2025 in Lucknow

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the CM Yuva Conclave and Expo-2025 at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Gomtinagar, on Wednesday, marking a significant step toward empowering youth through self-employment under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan. The two-day event aims to integrate entrepreneurial opportunities with direct access to resources and financial support for young aspirants across the state. The Chief Minister inspected stalls showcasing franchise businesses, mobile enterprises, and advanced machinery. A key highlight of the event was the launch of the U.P. Mart Portal, a digital platform designed to connect aspiring entrepreneurs with suppliers, service providers, and institutional guidance. This integrated portal will serve as a one-stop solution for young entrepreneurs seeking streamlined access to tools and training. During his address to the audience, MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan announced that loans totalling Rs 2,751.82 crore have been distributed to 67,897 youths to date. This includes Rs 1,607.81 crore granted to 39,223 beneficiaries in the current fiscal year alone. The scheme targets 1.5 lakh youth, offering interest-free, collateral-free loans of up to Rs 5 lakh—supplemented by a 10% subsidy—for individuals aged 21–40 with at least a Class VIII qualification. Since its launch on January 24, 2025, the initiative has seen over 6 lakh registrations. The conclave drew participation from more than 150 franchise brands, 75 machinery providers, 50 mobile business models, 25 major banks, and 30 government departments, alongside academic institutions such as IIT Kanpur, HBTU, AKTU, Lucknow University, Ambedkar University, and Amity University. Several MoUs were signed during the event to deepen partnerships in entrepreneurship and skill development. Youth attendees benefited from direct interactions with businesses and received financial literacy and entrepreneurial guidance from banking and departmental experts. Ten beneficiaries were felicitated with loan cheques on stage, and twelve others received letters of consent to initiate ventures with leading brands. Notably, well-known franchise brands like Garage have announced a waiver of franchise fees for the youth of Uttar Pradesh, providing additional incentives for aspiring entrepreneurs. The event featured panel discussions led by senior officials, academics, bankers, and successful entrepreneurs, who shared insights on startup strategies, innovation, and financial planning. Success stories from scheme beneficiaries such as Prabhunur Kaur (Kanpur), Vijay Pandey (Lucknow), Shashank Chaurasia, Tuba Siddiqui, and Amar Deep Singh (Sitapur) served to inspire the attendees. Minister Sachan praised the launch of the CM Yuva Mobile App and the U.P. Mart Portal as milestones in strengthening the state's entrepreneurial framework. He emphasised the significance of district-wise participation, directing officials to ensure representation of at least 50 youth from each district. With more than 5,000 students, apprentices, and innovators in attendance, the conclave reaffirmed the state's commitment to fostering a self-reliant and economically empowered youth community.
