Inside EastEnders star Zack Hudson actor's life away from soap with famous wife

Daily Mirrora day ago

Zack Hudson's fate in Walford has been revealed tonight, but what does actor James Farrar have going on in his personal life when he's not filming in Albert Square?
EastEnders fans were left reeling this week as Zack Hudson's fate was thrown into question after a dramatic car crash resulted in him vanishing beneath the surface of a lake. But while his friends and family in Walford may be in mourning, what do we know about the man behind the character, and the life he leads when he is not in Albert Square?
James Farrar, 37, joined EastEnders in 2021 as Zack Hudson, who quickly became a central figure in the soap. Zack has had no shortage of dramatic storylines, including a recent one where it was revealed that he is the secret father of Barney Mitchell.

Now, after this week's shock crash, viewers are wondering if the actor's time on the soap has come to an end. Tuesday night's (May 27) episode of EastEnders left fans stunned as they watched Teddy and Zack's car plunge into a lake after Teddy lost control of the vehicle.

The tension has only built in Wednesday's (28 May) follow-up, as Zack has not been found and characters on-screen think he is dead. While the show has not yet officially confirmed Zack's demise, fans have been speculating that this Farrar has appeared on the soap for the last time, especially after a comment the actor made during a recent interview on This Morning. When asked if he would survive the crash, he simply shrugged and said, "We'll see."
He previously told the Mirror: "There is something really exciting coming up next year that nobody really knows about yet. It keeps me going into work every day going…. I'm buzzing for it to start. It is just starting around now."

Away from the high-stakes drama of EastEnders, James Farrar has a fulfilling life that extends far beyond the world of Walford. Farrar was born in Greenwich, London, and studied drama and media at the University of Portsmouth before attending the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2010.
Before becoming an actor, James had a successful career as a model. He fronted campaigns for major fashion houses such as Jimmy Choo and Dolce & Gabbana, and even shared the spotlight with well-known figures like Nicole Kidman and Kate Moss.
However, he eventually took a step back from that glamorous lifestyle because of a very personal reason. He previously told TV Mag: "One of the reasons I joined EastEnders was because of my mum, who has cancer.

"It meant that if these are my last days with her, we spent them together rather than me travelling the world." His mother has since undergone chemotherapy and, according to James, is "smashing it" with the "grit of a warrior".
In 2017, James married wellness expert Ali Roff Farrar, the Wellness Director for Psychologies Magazine and co-founder of luxury retreat brand We Are Remedy. The couple welcomed their daughter Summer in 2021 and now live together in Blackheath, London.
Outside of acting, James is also a certified personal trainer and vegan chef. This is a lifestyle he shares with his wife. They have hosted wellness retreats together for people looking to recharge, and they both champion looking after your physical and mental wellbeing.

EastEnders 'is bringing back an iconic character' in shock recast after an eight-year absence from the Square

EastEnders has reportedly decided to bring back an iconic character who has not been spotted in the Square for nearly a decade. In another shocking recast, the legendary soap is said to see the return of Max Branning's son Oscar, according the Sun. But the character, who has not had a story line since 2017, will not be played by Charlee Hall but it will be recast to Pierre Moullier. A source told the publication: 'It is an exceptional bout of casting - Pierre looks more like a younger Jake than Jake did himself. It's uncanny. 'He's going to bring something new to Oscar and the character will definitely set the cat amongst the pigeons in the Square.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. This will be Pierre's soap debut as he has previously appeared in as a 'boy in the street' during one episode of Cast Offs. MailOnline has contacted representatives for the show for a comment. Actor Jake Wood is also set to reprise his role as Max Branning later this year, in a return much-anticipated by fans following a four-year absence. Jake's return comes a year after he celebrated being sober for over 20 years. The actor, 51, opened up about his past struggles with alcohol as he filmed himself from his hot tub while reflecting on life. The soap star wore a woolly hat as he enjoyed a cigar while sending an inspirational message to his followers. Posting on Twitter, he said: 'So I'm sat here in a hot tub, having a cigar, it's pretty cool. 'And just reflecting on how grateful I am for all the amazing things I've got in my life. I've got an amazing family, beautiful family, fantastic friends. Everyone is happy and healthy. The soap star played Max Branning in the BBC soap from 2006 to 2021 'Also, and I don't really talk about this often, I just want to say that tonight I'm 20 years sober. [I] stopped drinking 20 years ago tonight and that changed my life in so many ways. 'It's immeasurable. So anyone on the same journey, I send you love and support, and if anyone's struggling there's help out there, alright?' He signed off by saying: 'You can do it. Love you guys. Happy New Year.' Jake captioned the post: 'I am 20 years sober tonight. So proud of myself and for anyone out there on a similar journey. 'If you are struggling there is help out there, please reach out and believe me if I did it you can too. Sending you all love & strength and a happy and healthy 2024.' Jake was inundated with support from friends and fans, including some of his former co-stars. Musician Nitin Sawhney wrote: 'Congratulations and have a great new year, Jake.' Danny Robbins, writer of West End production 2:22 A Ghost Story which Jake Wood has starred in, penned: 'Well done Jake. Great achievement. Happy New Year. See you soon x'. And this is not the only exciting news for the BBC soap as they are set to battle it out against Emmerdale for the top categories at the British Soap Awards 2025 this month, with each show receiving 13 nominations. The two shows have eclipsed rivals Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, who have secured 11 nominations each ahead of the ceremony on May 31. The glitzy event will be returning to London to Hackney Empire, after previously taking place in Manchester, and will once again be hosted by Jane McDonald as it returns following a surprise hiatus last year. As always, the numerous accolades will be presented by an array of well-known faces from across the TV and showbiz world, with the TV event broadcasting a few days later in a primetime slot. The ceremony will celebrate a mammoth year in soaps looking back on 12 months of murder, mystery, make-ups, break ups, trials, tribulations and tears. An incredible year saw Gail Platt depart the cobbles after 50 years in Coronation Street and EastEnders celebrate its 40th anniversary. Lacey Turner has been nominated for Best Leading Performer for her role as Stacey Slater in EastEnders ahead of the May 31 ceremony Ned Porteous will compete for Villain of the Year at the awards thanks to his fine performances as Joe Tate in Emmerdale Meanwhile Hollyoaks leapt a year into the future and in Emmerdale a dramatic limousine crash into a frozen lake left viewers stunned. The Viewer Voted Categories include Best British Soap, Best Leading Performer, Villain of the Year and Best Comedy Performance. The nominees for Best Leading Performer are Lacey Turner (Stacey Slater, EastEnders), Kellie Bright (Linda Carter, EastEnders), Eden Taylor-Draper (Belle Dingle, Emmerdale) and Beth Cordingly (Ruby Miligan, Emmerdale). And the public has a tough choice when it comes to Villain of the Year with Calum Lill (Joel Deering, Coronation Street), Navin Chowdhry (Nish Panesar, EastEnders), Ned Porteous (Joe Tate, Emmerdale) and Tyler Conti (Abe Fielding, Hollyoaks) to choose from. The Best Comedy Performance category includes Jack P Shepherd (David Platt, Coronation Street), Patsy Palmer (Bianca Jackson, EastEnders), Nicola Wheeler (Nicola King, Emmerdale) and Nicole Barber-Lane (Myra McQueen, Hollyoaks). Gazza looks better than ever as he shares feelings that 'run riot' in his life

Once described as the most gifted English footballer of all time, Paul Gascoigne - aka Gazza - is 58 and looking fantastic. And he tells The Mirror he wants people to get to know 'the real me' Looking like a man at the top of his game, as he poses for an exclusive photoshoot, Gazza says: 'I feel better now than I have in years.' Once described as the most gifted English footballer of all time, now 58 and looking fantastic, he tells The Mirror: 'I hope I am at a point that I can really look back over everything I've gone through in my life with a different - and more positive - perspective. After so many years in the spotlight, I feel like it's time people got to know the real me.' ‌ Speaking ahead of his new book Eight being released by Mirror Books in the autumn, he has named it after the number 8 shirt he famously wore for England for Euro 96, as well as for Spurs. Eight, he reveals, also relates to the eight emotions he says have 'run riot through my life…sometimes all in the same afternoon!' ‌ The book promises to give the real story behind some of the more infamous events in the life of the Spurs, Rangers, Middlesbrough and England champion - from the drinking, to living with bipolar and his bizarre involvement in the hunt for killer his bizarre involvement in the hunt for Raoul Moat. Gazza, who recently appeared on a video tribute to Gary Lineker, when he bowed out as host of Match of the Day, thanked his former England and Spurs teammate for being there during his tougher times and hoped they would go 'gallivanting' together, now he has more free time. ‌ Gazza's well-documented addiction problems in the past have led to a series of arrests for drunk and disorderly and drink-drive offences. And his marriage to Sheryl Gascoigne in 1996 was dogged by allegations of domestic violence. But, despite their divorce in 1998, she has written about her ongoing attempts to help him. Coming 20 years after his autobiography My Story in 2005, Gazza feels that in Eight, he shows he now has a better grasp of what was happening to him during his rollercoaster life journey. Billed as 'Paul Gascoigne as never before,' if his story is anywhere near as showstopping as his new pictures, then it will be a riveting read. ‌ 'Gazza's looking better than ever - he was one of the heroes of my youth' Mirror photographer Rowan Griffiths photographed his footballing hero Gazza for the first time two weeks ago and says: 'He looks fantastic.' Meeting at a hotel in Didcot, Oxfordshire, Rowan says: 'Gazza knows how to hold the room. He was very genuine, asking how we all were. He was doing a speaking tour and seemed very well. I was so relieved to see him looking so good, as I was a fan from way back in the day myself. He was one of the heroes of my youth.' Rowan, who has been a Mirror photographer since 2003, reminisced with Gazza about the World Cup game against the then Czechoslovakia in 1990, when he scored one of the goals that bagged England a 4-2 win. 'I went to the Czech game,' says Rowan. 'Gazza recalled every detail of that game to me. Someone else asked if he remembered every game and he said yes he did. It's amazing to have that recall.' Disclosing that he has swapped hotel stays for Airbnbs when he is on speaking tours, so he has greater autonomy, when Rowan asked how he was feeling, Gazza said: 'I'm great.' While looking brilliant and posing like a consummate professional, Rowan says: 'He still likes a typical Gazza joke. We would be doing some serious portraits and the next thing, he was doing a ballerina pose! That's Gazza for you!'

Credit: ITV The former EastEnders star exhausted three lifelines before facing the £64,000 question. It posed: "The origin of the modern phrase 'there's a method in my madness' can be traced back to which Shakespeare tragedy?" Nina's available options were A) King Lear, B) Macbeth, C) Othello or D) Hamlet. Having been asked by Jeremy, the star admitted she "loves Shakespeare" but was struggling to work out the correct answer. She believed either B) Macbeth or D) Hamlet was right, although wasn't fully certain on either. Nina therefore opted to use her last lifeline - Ask the Audience - to help out. The results showed 43% believed the answer was Macbeth while Hamlet placed second with 32%. Nina selected Macbeth, but the correct answer turned out to be Hamlet. She still walked away with £32,000 for her charity - having set her safety net at that amount - in the episode first aired last year. Meanwhile, viewers recently saw a player use two lifelines on the £1m question - only to answer incorrectly. Devastating moment Who Wants To Be A Millionaire player uses two lifelines on £1m question and LOSES- but could you get it right- University Challenge alum Nicholas Bennett got through several round with relative ease. His £1m puzzler asked: "Which of these words, each coined by a famous writer, was derived from the tale of of a fairytale about three princes?" He could have chosen between A) Pandemonium, B) Serendipity, C) Utopia and D) Yahoo. Uncertain, he asked Jeremy and then used Phone A Friend - with neither possessing the correct answer. He opted for his initial thought, Yahoo - only to soon learn it was incorrect. Who has won the jackpot on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has offered hundreds of hopeful contestants the chance to become millionaires, but there has only been a handful of lucky winners. There have only been five real winners so far on the show as Charles Ingram, who was the third winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? in 2001, had his claim to the prize thrown out because of cheating allegations. The official winners are... Judith Keppel In 2000, garden designer Judith Keppel made quiz show history as she became the first ever winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Judith is also the only woman ever to have won the million-pound prize. David Edwards Former physics teacher David became the second contestant to win the top prize in April 2001. Following his success, Edwards went on to compete in both series of Are You an Egghead? in 2008 and 2009. Robert Brydges Oxford-educated banker Robert became the third Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? champion when he won the quiz show several moths after David in 2001. Robert has stayed out of the limelight since his win. Pat Gibson World champion Irish quiz player Pat won the show in 2004. Amazingly Pat had TWO of his lifelines still available for his final question, something no other winner has managed. Ingram Wilcox Ingram came close to losing on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2006 as he had used all his lifelines up at the £32,000 mark, but in a shocking twist he went on to scoop the jackpot. In the end, the right answer ultimately turned out to be B) Serendipity. Nicholas didn't let much disappointment show, as he optimistically said: "Still get £125,000." Speaking afterwards, Jeremy estimated: "We've just seen a contestant lose what we think is the biggest amount of money in Millionaire history." Who Wants To Be A Millionaire airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
