The Seattle Kraken have traded for winger Mason Marchment from the Dallas Stars in a deal that includes a 2026 third-round pick and a 2025 fourth-round pick (originally Dallas's, previously traded to the Rangers).
This transaction frees up $4.5 million in cap room for Dallas—space they wasted no time in using to re-sign Matt Duchene earlier in the day—but doesn't fully address their roster flexibility concerns. The move also sparked fan reactions.

fanbases, the Seattle Kraken have acquired forward Mason Marchment from the Dallas Stars, sending a 2026 third-round pick and a previously traded 2025 fourth-rounder back to Dallas.
While the deal makes sense on paper, fans are split on what it means for Seattle's lineup and identity.
"This makes sense. The Kraken dealt Gourde at the deadline and he was the old pest so here's the new pest without giving up a whole lot," a Reddit user said.
"Great, now this diver is in the Pacific division," another commented.

"Who do the Kraken move on from to bring in more talent?" one had a question.
"How much was his contract? suprised they let him go for so little," one fan was shocked to which another replied, "4.5M right now, but hes a pending FA next year and they don't have any cap space."
"Tbh I kinda forgot the Kraken existed since the playoffs started.. nothing against them, tho.." another said.
The Stars continue to require the addition of at least four more forwards and could seek to move defensemen Matt Dumba or Ilya Lyubushkin to create more room.
For the Kraken, the trade fixes two obvious areas of weakness: goal goalscoring and toughness. Marchment has both, having had several 20-goal campaigns while averaging more than 100 hits.

Though Marchment is a solid value add, the fan reaction is split, with some questioning his penchant for diving and others a bit uncertain how he fits into an already congested lineup. Yet for a club that needs to add edge and scoring depth, this low-cost acquisition could be quietly significant.

IND vs ENG: Shubman Gill joins elite club with century on Test captaincy debut, anchors India on Day 1 at Headingley
Shubman Gill (BCCI Photo) NEW DELHI: Shubman Gill couldn't have scripted a better beginning to his tenure as India's Test captain. On Day 1 of the first Test against England at Headingley, the 25-year-old marked his leadership debut in style, slamming a composed and confident hundred to become only the fourth Indian to score a century in his first innings as Test skipper. Live Score: India vs England, 1st Test Day 1 Gill joined the elite list of Vijay Hazare (164* vs England, 1951), Sunil Gavaskar (116 vs New Zealand, 1976), and Virat Kohli (115 vs Australia, 2014), cementing his place in India's captaincy folklore. He is also the 23rd batter overall in Test history to register a century on captaincy debut. Walking in at a delicate juncture after the dismissal of KL Rahul (42), Gill steadied the innings with fellow young gun Yashasvi Jaiswal , forging a vital 129-run partnership. While Jaiswal played with his usual flair en route to a 101, Gill was the picture of poise, blending discipline with elegance as he reached his century in 140 balls, laced with 14 boundaries. He brought up his fastest Test fifty off just 56 balls, highlighting an intent to keep the scoreboard moving. His innings was dotted with trademark drives and confident footwork against both pace and spin. The milestone fifty came with a commanding stroke through covers off Josh Tongue — a fitting symbol of his authority on the day. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Cooling Tech Making Ductless ACs Go Mainstream [take a look] Keep Cool Click Here Undo At 25 years and 285 days, Gill also became the youngest Indian to score a fifty on Test captaincy debut, and only the ninth overall from India to do so. IND vs ENG: 'Gilly, ball ban gaya hai' - What Rishabh Pant-Shubman Gill chat caught on stump mic reveals
Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill have been solid after the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal (Image via X/@Rishabh_aaryan & SunRisers) A s the third session on Day 1 between India and England marches on, India's middle order looked in assured hands with the combined efforts of Rishabh Pant and captain Shubman Gill. Jaiswal, who has rapidly become England's new Test nemesis, notched up a sparkling 101 off 159 balls — his fifth Test ton and third against the English — to lay a solid platform for India. His dismissal, however, came at a crucial time: England captain Ben Stokes produced a timely breakthrough, trapping the left-hander and celebrating a much-needed scalp after plenty of work under the Leeds sun. In walked Pant at No. 5, and he wasted no time announcing his arrival. Facing Stokes for his second ball, Pant drilled a full delivery straight back past the England skipper for a scorching boundary. The shot drew an instant laugh from Stokes, who couldn't help but find laugh at Pant's aggressive greeting. Pant, however, appeared to show little to no reaction. — Sahil_Malhotra1 (@Sahil_Malhotra1) Since then, Pant has kept the energy high in the middle, regularly chatting with Gill between overs. In one such stump mic moment, Pant was heard telling Gill, ' Gilly, ball ban gaya hai. Banaya hai inhone abhi… ' - a remark hinting that England's bowlers have now got the ball to reverse swing, adding an extra layer of challenge on a pitch that still has good pace and carry. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không?
