Eight held from Bengaluru for Rs 32L dacoity by targeting an Angadia at an ATM in Navi Mumbai
NAVI MUMBAI: Sanpada police have arrested eight accused from Bengaluru for kidnapping-cum-dacoity of an Angadia, whom they had looted of Rs 32 lakh cash, when he had gone to deposit the cash at an ATM in Juinagar on May 31 morning.
Devidas Kathale, senior inspector of Sanpada informed that, six accused, including one posing as a cop, had executed the crime by abducting the Angadia identified as Mohammad Ramees Idavlath, in a SUV that they had hired from Sanpada, while two others were arrested for connivance as they were keeping a vigil in the locality. The eight accused were arrested from Bengaluru on June 2.
Inspector Kathale said,"On May 31 around 7.45 am, the complainant Mohammad Ramees Idavlath had gone to an ATM kiosk at Juinagar to deposit Rs 31.73 lakhs cash.
Probably, the gang of robbers were following him. As Idavlath entered the A kiosk, six men arrived at the spot in a SUV. One for them flashed an Identity Card claiming to be a cop from Mumbai. The fake cop told Idavlath to accompany him for inquiry by claiming that the huge cash in his possession was unaccounted.
He told Idavlath to accompany him to police station for inquiry. The six men forcibly dragged Idavlath in their SUV and drove along the Palm Beach road.

Inspector Kathale said, "From the CCTV footage surveillance, the SUV was traced and the driver informed that six men claiming to be from Kerala crime branch has hired his SUV and they took him around Sanpada node. At the ATM at Juinagar, they halted and targeted the Angadia Mohammad. They abducted him and left the SUV at Sanpada bridge after paying the driver.
We checked several lodges across Navi Mumbai and found that the accused had stayed at a lodge in Vashi.
From the Aadhar card details submitted at the lodge, it was learnt that the accused were from Bengaluru. Our police team reached Bengaluru and with the help of local police checked around 50 lodging and boarding where the accused could have stayed. Finally, the eight accused were apprehended from a lodge in Bengaluru. The arrested accused are Thansir Hamsa (26), Nijas Moin (27), Johnson Sunny (45) and Mohammad Ashraf (25), all of them working at a bakery and hail from Tamilnadu. The other accused are Anwar Basha (29) who works at a bakery, Fasil Kasim(30), a welder, Fasil Kasim (28), a driver and Fasil Rehman (31), a cleaner, both from Kerala. From the accused we have recovered Rs 30.48 lakhs cash apart from seizure of their mobiles and the SUV used in the crime. They have been remanded to police custody till June 7."

Cop at Bopdev Ghat help centre extorts Rs 28,000 from youths
Pune: Kondhwa police on Saturday filed a complaint against a constable and his friend for assaulting a youth from Chennai and his friends, who came to Bopdev Ghat for photography, and extorting Rs 28,000 on the pretext of filing a case against them. The incident occurred between 7 am and 9 am on June 5. The constable posted at Bopdev Ghat help centre was later suspended. Senior inspector Vinayak Patankar said, "We have served notices to constable Vikram Wadtile and his friend Kedar Jadhav, directing them to join the police in the investigation because they were charged with offences punishable up to seven years." Patankar said the 19-year-old Chennai-based youth, who is the complainant in the case, visited Pune to meet his grandparents. On June 5, the youth and his two friends visited Bopdev Ghat to take photographs and took a hookah pot with them. After a recent gang-rape incident involving a 20-year-old event management student at Bopdev Ghat, a police help centre had been set up there. Wadtile was stationed at the help centre. According to Patankar, "Wadtile questioned the youth and his two friends and searched their bag, where he found the hookah pot. The police officer said, "At the entrance of the police station, Wadtile stopped the vehicle and told the youths that they would be taken to Sassoon General Hospital for a medical examination and their future would be ruined." He initially demanded Rs 25,000 from each of them. When they said they didn't have that much money, they agreed to settle by transferring Rs 28,000 online to Kedar Jadhav's account. After receiving the money, Wadtile let them go. " The complainant grew suspicious and came to the police station to verify whether Wadtile was indeed a policeman. "He informed me about the incident. The youth did not know Wadtile's name but described his physical appearance. I conducted an inquiry, which revealed that Wadtile indeed threatened and extorted money from the youths. After the extortion case was registered, Wadtile and Jadhav returned Rs 28,000 to the youth," the officer said. Deputy commissioner of police (Zone V) Rajkumar Shinde suspended Wadtile pending departmental inquiry. He said that the cop had been held responsible for tarnishing the image of the police department due to his actions.

NEET fraud: Police investigate role of Ayurveda practitioner
1 2 Jaipur: Police here are investigating the role of Subhash Saini, an Ayurveda practitioner who was posted as a community health officer in Kuchaman city of Nagaur district, for his suspected involvement in a NEET exam impersonation racket. According to police, Saini is believed to be a key link in a network that arranged dummy candidates for the national-level medical entrance exam. Saini, previously arrested in a 2013 case involving NEET fraud worth Rs 65 lakh, is no stranger to such allegations. In that instance, he was accused of charging large sums of money to guarantee NEET clearance, although the exam was eventually cancelled. Six people were arrested at the time following a complaint lodged at Chomu police station. He was also booked in 2021 by Arain Police in Ajmer along with his brother Dr Ashok for cheating. The case came to light after police arrested three individuals Friday, including Saini, a final-year MBBS student from AIIMS Jodhpur, and a medical intern from Bharatpur. The two others were identified as Sachin Gaura, 22, and Ajit Gaura, 30. All three are residents of Chomu. Jaipur DCP (West) Amit Kumar said Sachin allegedly paid Rs 60 lakh to Saini to facilitate the impersonation. The scheme allowed Sachin to use Ajit's photograph on his NEET-UG 2020 admit card, enabling someone else—possibly Ajit—to take the exam in his place. Sachin secured 667 marks and a rank of 1,443, enough to gain admission to AIIMS Jodhpur. Ajit cleared NEET in 2019 after eight years of preparation. While Ajit and Sachin were remanded by court to police custody until June 13, Santosh Saini was sent to custody till June 10. Police say they are also investigating other individuals from Chomu who may be part of the gang and have requested records from the National Testing Agency, AIIMS Jodhpur, and Shri Jagannath Pahadia Medical College in Bharatpur.

Cops intensify search for Maoists in Odisha forests
1 2 Bhubaneswar: The recent intensified operations against Maoists in Chhattisgarh has reportedly forced them to disperse and seek refuge in adjacent forest areas, police officials said. Acting on intelligence reports, the special operation group (SOG) and district voluntary force (DVF) launched search operations in Charmal forests of Sambalpur district. Intelligence reports suggest that there was suspicious movement of some rebels from Chhattisgarh, who took shelter in these forests, prompting swift action from security forces. "It is an area domination exercise that is being carried out as part of ongoing offensive, search, and combing operations in Maoist-dominated areas in the state. It is not fully confirmed if the rebels dispersed and are trying to shift their bases. Considering their dwindling numbers in Odisha, it is not likely that they will have any sort of offensive action against security forces," said a senior police officer privy to the ongoing operations. In Oct last year, a senior Maoist cadre was killed in a combing operation launched by SOG in Kandhamal district.
