2026 Tesla Model S Review: Expert Insights, Pricing, and Trims

2026 Tesla Model S Review: Expert Insights, Pricing, and Trims

Motor Trend4 hours ago

The Tesla Model S is an electric car. When it launched for 2013, the Model S was Tesla's first mainstream electric car. Various updates have been applied to the Model S over the years, including a substantial refresh made for 2022. Tesla has made a few more changes for 2026. Rivals to the Model S include the Lucid Air, Audi A6 E-Tron, and BMW i5. What's New
Basics Updated suspension tuning to yield a more comfortable ride
A quieter cabin
Claimed range rises to 410 miles on the AWD model, up from 405. With 21s, range is 380 miles.
Plaid model has a claimed 368-mile range, up from 359. With 21s, range is 328 miles.
Exterior Mildly updated headlights and taillights, with adaptive-beam headlights
Updated lower front fascia
New Frost Blue exterior color option
Attractive new 19- and 21-inch wheel designs
Front-facing camera to aid in parking maneuvers
Interior Updated "dynamic" ambient lighting on the dashboard and doors Inside the 2026 Model S
The 2026 Model S' interior is merely decent, not competitive with truly luxurious electric sedans. The simple, streamlined design is available in three interior hues: black, white, and beige.
As ever, a large 17.4-inch central touchscreen is a primary design feature and unlike the Model 3 and Model Y, the Model S continues to have a standard driver display. That 12.3-inch display in front is joined by a 9.4-inch touchscreen for rear-seat passengers. New Model S Power and Performance—2026 Plaid?
As is the case today, the standard 2026 Model S is a dual-motor AWD setup making approximately 670 hp, providing a 0–60 mph time of about 3.1 seconds.
In an attempt to steal back acceleration records from the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach, Tesla may one day introduce an upgraded version of the triple-motor Model S Plaid with even more power than the 1,020 hp it has now. It would need to launch from 0–60 mph in less than 1.89 seconds if it wants to beat that epic Taycan. For now, we continue to wish the Model S Plaid came with fortified brakes to effectively and repeatedly counter its strong acceleration. Model S Range and Charging
Currently, all versions of the Model S come with a 100-kWh battery pack. Depending on specification, it can cover between approximately 328 and 410 miles on a charge, a bit more than the 2025 model.
Maximum charge rate tops out at 250 kW. Like all Tesla cars and an increasing number of vehicles from other automakers, the 2026 Model S has access to the Supercharger network. Self-Driving Model S?
The 2026 Model S comes equipped with Autopilot assist features such as automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
The so-called Full Self-Driving (FSD) software will also be available for an extra charge, allowing for hands-free driving on essentially any public road. In our experience, FSD is prone to erratic behavior and dumb decision making that calls into question its safety and utility. Other Electric Sedans: Lucid Air
Porsche Taycan
BMW i5
Audi A6 E-Tron

Millions Of Windows Users Get Microsoft's Free Upgrade Offer

Millions of Windows users suddenly move NurPhoto via Getty Images What a difference two weeks makes. June started badly for Microsoft, with news that its all-important Windows 11 upgrades had flatlined. But a fortnight later that surprising upgrade reversal has reversed again — and then some. Windows 11 has all but caught Windows 10 for the first time. If the data is right, that's a huge turnaround in 16 days. The data comes courtesy of Statcounter, and while it's never going to be completely accurate — only Microsoft has the actual data, it is indicative. That means it's the trends that matter. With little more than 100 days until Windows 10 falls off support and with more than 700 million users still on Windows 10, this could not be more critical. Windows 10 Vs Windows 11 (Worldwide) Statcounter At a headline level, as at June 17, Windows 10's worldwide market share has dropped below 50% (48.9%) for the first time. More notably, Windows 11 is knocking 50% (47.7%) itself for the first time. This after Windows 11 dipped and Windows 10 recovered in May, widening the gap between new and old in the wrong direction. If anywhere near accurate, this means almost 60 million Windows 10 users have upgraded. Clearly, May could have been a statistical anomaly and this is the data catching up, but either way it's good news for Microsoft and the security community. Windows 10 Vs Windows 11 (United States) Statcounter In the U.S., where Windows 11 overtook Windows 10 earlier this year, the gap is as wide as it's been — 55.2% for Windows 11 versus 42.0% for Windows 10. In Europe, there were slight gains for Windows 11. But the highlight is Asia, where a huge 10% swing sees Windows 10 drop from 59% to 49%, and Windows 11 top 46%. Unfortunately, this means there are still around 700 million Windows 10 users yet to upgrade. What we don't know is where the hard floor will be found. These are the 240-million-plus Windows 10 users whose PC's don't meet the upgrade criteria. Microsoft and PC OEMs are pushing those users to buy new hardware, and the Windows-maker is also launching a migration tool to make the switch as easy as possible. Windows 10 Vs Windows 11 (Asia) Statcounter Two weeks from now, when the data for the full month of June is available, we will see if this was a mid month blip or the mass acceleration of upgrades has continued. No one wants to see hundreds of millions of PCs fall off support at a time when exploited Windows zero-days have become a regular monthly event. For those with compatible PCs running a licensed version of Windows 10, the upgrade to Windows 11 remains free. Your PC will already be nagging you to upgrade, just follow the instructions. For those without, your options remain a paid support extension from October 14 or a new PC. Don't leave it too late and leave your PC exposed.

Motorola confirms Android 16 is coming to these phones

Ryan Haines / Android Authority TL;DR Motorola has revealed which phones will get Android 16. The list includes the Motorola Edge 40 Pro and higher, recent Moto G phones, and recent Razr foldables. Unfortunately, many Moto G phones and the original ThinkPhone are missing from the list. Google has just released Android 16, and we're now waiting for Android phone makers to announce their own rollout plans. Motorola hasn't announced a timeline for availability just yet, but it has revealed which phones will get Android 16. YTechB tirelessly combed through Motorola's website and put together a list of devices which are confirmed to get Android 16. You can check out the full list below. Motorola Edge 2025 Motorola Edge 60 Pro Motorola Edge 60 Motorola Edge 60 Fusion Motorola Edge 60 Stylus Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Motorola Edge 50 Pro Motorola Edge 50 Neo Motorola Edge 50 Fusion Motorola Edge 50 Motorola Edge 40 Pro Moto G Power 2025 Moto G 2025 Motorola G Stylus 2025 Moto G56 Moto G86 Moto G86 Power Moto G85 Moto G75 Moto G55 Motorola Razr 2023 Motorola Razr Plus 2024 Motorola Razr 2025 Motorola Razr Plus 2025 Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 Motorola Razr 60 Motorola Razr 60 Ultra Motorola Razr 50 Ultra Motorola Razr 50 ThinkPhone 25 Unfortunately, there are a few high-profile omissions here. This includes the original ThinkPhone, a variety of Moto G devices, and the low-end Moto E15. In saying so, Motorola's budget phones typically get horrible OS update policies. Motorola's website also lists the Razr 2023 as getting Android 16, but not the Razr Plus 2023. I'm guessing some phones might not be listed because they haven't received Android 15 just yet. So there's still hope that devices like the ThinkPhone and Razr Plus 2023 will get Android 16. Android 16 brings iOS-like Live Updates, an embedded photo picker, improved predictive back support, an Advanced Protection Mode, and anti-scammer protections during phone calls. Got a tip?
