Where Is He Now: Car Lover From TLC's My Strange Addiction
You likely remember the guy on TLC's My Strange Addiction years ago who was in love with his car, Chase, a red Chevy Monte Carlo. The episode shocked and horrified a number of people because the guy wasn't talking about loving his car in the traditional sense, like how enthusiasts really like their ride. Instead, he claimed to be romantically involved with the vehicle. While some people wrote off the episode as someone doing anything to get on TV, others think Nathaniel, who was 27 at the time, was being dead serious. In the episode, he would caress and kiss Chase, the Monte Carlo, repeatedly.
Screen captures from the episode have been used for all kinds of memes in recent years. But many people have wondered whatever happened to Nathaniel, the guy who was in a relationship with his car.
Perhaps after fielding a lot of requests for an update, TLC did a follow-up episode not too long ago with Nathaniel, who's now 39. With tear-filled eyes, he announced on camera that, 'unfortunately, Chase is no longer a part of my life.'
That's right, the guy no longer loves the car he was so romantically invested in a decade before. But why? Did Chase cheat on him with the neighbor's Mustang? Did he fall in love with a Dodge Ram? What could possibly pull the guy away from his beloved red Monte Carlo?
The answer is a serious accident. After taking the Chevy in for routine servicing, Nathaniel received the call he probably secretly dreaded. We don't get any details, but it's understood a technician was behind the wheel when tragedy struck.
Our big question is why if the guy loved the Monte Carlo so much, did he not have Chase fixed and fully restored? For whatever reason he didn't, choosing instead to have a blanket made with photos of the car printed on the fabric, a constant reminder of his lover now sitting in some scrap yard.
They say love hurts, and apparently that's true even if you don't get involved with another human.
But don't worry, Nathaniel has a new love, a black sedan that's apparently female. TLC doesn't show more than just a few parts, we guess to keep the new ride's identity safe for whatever reason. So that's what happened to the My Strange Addiction guy who was in a relationship with his car.

Over 21,000 Ford, Lincoln vehicles recalled for headlight issue. See impacted cars.
Ford has issued a recall for over 21,000 vehicles due to an issue that may cause headlights to malfunction, increasing the risk of a crash. Impacted vehicle models include the 2025 Lincoln Nautilus, 2025 Mustang Mach E and 2025 Mustang vehicles, Ford said in an announcement on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. According to Ford, which owns Lincoln, the LED Driver Modules may contain a device that can cause the low-beam and high-beam headlights, daytime running lights, front position lights and front turn signals to malfunction. For Nautilus vehicles, the device can also cause the rear tail light, rear turn signal and rear position light to fail, Ford said. Ford said there have not been reports of accidents or injuries related to the lighting issue. Mostly 2025 Ford Mustangs recalled Impacted vehicles were manufactured between March 4, 2025 and July 24, 2025, Ford said in the recall announcement. Just over two weeks later, plant personnel found eight more vehicles with similar issues. Two months later, in May 2025, someone submitted a warranty claim for a Nautilus vehicle in China, Ford said, and by June 15, seven more warranty claims were filed in China. Ford's Critical Concern Review Group in China opened an investigation on June 18, then transferred the investigation to Ford's team in the U.S. Investigators analyzed the vehicle parts and found that the headlight malfunctions were linked to a burnt device in the headlamps.
