The Bolles School names new baseball stadium after famed alumnus Chipper Jones
The renovation project at The Bolles School, designed by David Luke Architecture, is set to enhance the baseball facilities at the Upper School's San Jose Campus with a budget of $3.7 million.
The lead gift for the renovation came from Jones himself, honoring the school and coaches who contributed to his career success.
'The heart and soul of Bolles Baseball will reside at this stadium where lifelong friendships will continue to form and teams grow stronger together,' Jones said.

The renovation includes a Fieldhouse named in honor of Jerry and Bruce Chappell, featuring approximately 3,000 square feet of space with locker rooms, a video room, coaches' offices, and an entrance lobby showcasing over half a century of baseball excellence. The stadium improvements will also feature an upper-level terrace with dual towers and a traditional architectural design that pays homage to historic Bolles Hall.
Planning for the facility began in 2021, with a ceremonial groundbreaking last December. The aim is to wrap up construction before the 2026 season.
Jones played his entire career with the Atlanta Braves, earning eight All-Star appearances and the 1999 National League MVP title before joining the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.

Speedway Classic Set To Break MLB's Regular Season Single-Game Attendance Record
When the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds meet at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, they'll be doing so in front of a record crowd. The MLB Speedway Classic will break the all-time single-game regular season attendance record as 85,000 tickets have already been sold, MLB announced Monday. The previous record was set in September 1954, when 84,587 fans watched a game between the New York Yankees and Cleveland at Cleveland Stadium as part of a doubleheader. As of Monday, fans from all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and nine other countries had bought tickets to attend Saturday's game, according to MLB. Tickets are still on sale for the MLB Speedway Classic. For car races, Bristol Motor Speedway has a stadium capacity of 146,000. However, the racetrack hosted more fans than that (156,990) when Virginia Tech and Tennessee played a college football game there in 2016. The single-game attendance record for all MLB games is 115,300. That record was set when the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the Boston Red Sox at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for a spring training game in 2008. Beyond the record being made in the crowd, Saturday's game will mark the first time an MLB game will be played in Tennessee. It's also the first MLB game that will ever be played on a racetrack. Both the Braves and Reds unveiled special uniforms that they'll wear for the game last week, with the location of the game serving as the inspiration for the theme of their looks. In addition, Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson will wear gear that's inspired by the hit movie, "Talladega Nights." The Reds will likely enter the series looking to continue their push for the playoffs. Cincinnati is one game out of the final wild card spot in the National League as of Monday. The Braves, meanwhile, have had a disappointing season and could be sellers ahead of the MLB trade deadline on Thursday. As for the pregame festivities, Hall of Famers who played for each team will throw the first pitch. Chipper Jones will represent the Braves, while Johnny Bench will represent the Reds. Sean Payton: Dre Greenlaw plays like Mike Tyson
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw made the most of the first day in pads at Broncos training camp. Greenlaw filled gaps and delivered hits throughout team drills in Denver and head coach Sean Payton said you didn't even have to be watching to know that Greenlaw was the one landing blows. Payton said "you can hear it" when Greenlaw makes a hit and then went on to compare his style to another knockout artist from a different sport. "He plays like Mike Tyson," Payton said, via the team's website. "He's tough, he's physical. He's built that way. There's not a lot of leaky yardage. Some guys [allow that]. He's a knock-back tackler. They stop where he hits them. There's an intensity to how he plays. He's one of those players that if you put the film on and didn't say anything, at some point early, you'd ask, 'Who is this guy?'" Greenlaw was limited to two games for the 49ers last year because of injuries and a quad injury interrupted his first offseason in Denver, so one key for the Broncos will be making sure Greenlaw's healthy enough to deploy that physicality on a regular basis. If he is, facing an already tough Broncos defense will be even less enjoyable for opposing offenses in 2025.

Commanders put OL Nate Herbig on reserve/retired list
Veteran offensive lineman Nate Herbig is walking away from football. Herbig signed with the Commanders this offseason, but the team announced on Tuesday morning that he has been placed on the team's reserve/retired list. He will no longer count against the team's 90-man roster limit. Herbig spent the last two seasons with the Steelers, but did not play at all in 2024 after a rotator cuff injury. Herbig appeared in 17 games for the Steelers in 2023 and he started 11 games at guard for the Jets in 2022. The Eagles signed Herbig as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and he started 17 of the 33 games he played while with Philadelphia. Nick Allegretti and Chris Paul remain on hand as depth options at guard in Washington.
