Five children among eight injured during pickup-buggy crash in mid-Michigan
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Lakeview post, which are investigating the crash, said all five children were taken to a hospital, where they were listed in serious to critical condition. A woman who was in the buggy also went to the hospital where she was listed in critical condition. A man who was in the buggy had minor injuries.
The man who was driving the pickup was reported to have minor injuries.
The crash happened on Dickerson Lake Road, east of M-91, in Montcalm Township.
The crash remains under investigation.
"Please keep this family and their community in your thoughts," the state police report said.

The body of a missing 15-year-old boy was discovered this week at a Detroit cemetery under suspicious circumstances. Lawrence Dowl, 15, was reported missing by his family on Wednesday after he did not return home, according to a report from affiliate FOX 2 Detroit. Detroit and Michigan State Police joined the search Thursday before Dowl's body was discovered at a local cemetery. Detectives told WDIV Dowl was "wearing gloves and what we believe to be some kind of ski mask," and the case is being investigated as a homicide. Dowl's family said he disappeared Tuesday after getting into a white Dodge Durango on the city's west side, according to FOX 2. He was reported missing the following day. The family added there was no way to track him, as he left his cell phone at home, according to the report. Police received a tip about the park in the area, which police and troopers searched with K9s prior to the discovery. Dowl's aunt, Lamisha Pullom, told FOX 2 Dowl and another boy were dropped off before they started walking. "We were told by a friend or supposed to be a friend, the person who was driving the car, that they dropped him and another boy off in this area and they took off walking," Pullom said. It is unclear if any suspects have been identified. Dowl's cause of death has not yet been released. The Detroit Police Department did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital.

Authorities investigate potential fraud in Hamtramck's 2025 primary election
Two Hamtramck City Council members have been arraigned on charges related to alleged fraud in the 2023 election. And now authorities are investigating potential fraud in the Aug. 5 primary election. CBS News Detroit obtained footage after submitting a Freedom of Information Act request to the clerk's office for surveillance camera footage pointed at a ballot box outside City Hall. City officials confirmed to CBS News Detroit that it handed the footage over to Michigan State Police, which is now investigating the potential fraud. MSP declined to comment, but confirmed it is investigating. Video from July 29 to Aug. 5 showed several individuals dropping off a handful of ballots, including someone in a black Nissan Maxima who made multiple trips. The video showed the person stuffing ballots in the box on each trip in the days leading up to the election. Another person in a red Tesla was also seen making several stops at the box, dropping off a handful of ballots. Michigan law restricts people from dropping off multiple ballots, unless it was for immediate family members. On Monday, Councilman Mohammed Hassan, 57, was charged with election law forgery, two counts of unqualified elector attempting to vote, forging a signature on an absentee ballot application and providing a false statement in an application for an absentee ballot. Fellow Councilman Muhtasin Sadman, 26, was charged with election law forgery, forging a signature on an absentee ballot application and providing a false statement in an application for an absentee ballot. 6 killed in crash involving Amish van after truck runs stop sign
Six people died in a two-vehicle crash in Tuscola County, Michigan, authorities say. The incident occurred at an intersection in Gilford Township just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, according to the Tuscola County Sheriff's Office. Authorities say a pickup truck occupied by three people collided with a "full-size van" after the truck went past a stop sign. Ten people were inside the van at the time of the crash. The sheriff's office stated that people from the van and pickup truck were ejected from the vehicles and that the accident could have been prevented: "Please keep those affected by this tragedy in your thoughts. These incidents are preventable and people need to slow down and obey traffic laws." CBS News and ABC 12 reported that the large van was carrying Amish people, and five of them were among the deceased. According to the outlets, the local Amish use a horse and buggy to get around but will ride in vehicles for extended trips. The other person who died was from the truck, ABC 12 reported, and at least six others were hospitalized. Gilford Township is about 118 miles from Detroit. According to the Michigan State Police, a pickup truck struck a buggy occupied by five children and two adults. A 4-month-old died while hospitalized. The other juveniles were also taken to the hospital, and two people were released, as of Wednesday, Aug. 13. One adult, identified as a 24-year-old female, was said to be in stable condition.
