The body was identified to be of Rohit Kumar Singh, a resident of Bihar's Khagaria district, reported news agency PTI.
The 30-year-old man was bathing at the Bagmati river, in Chandrapur Municipality around 2.40 pm on Saturday, shortly after which he went missing.
He had reportedly consumed alcohol before stepping into the river water, PTI quoted The Himalayan Times, which cited local police.
A rescue team comprising the Armed Police Force's Disaster Response Unit and local police found Singh's body at around 10.25 am on Sunday, from an irrigation canal of the river in the Gujara Municipality area, said Rautahat DSP Deepak Kumar Rai.
A post-mortem examination was conducted, after which his body was handed over to the family.
This incident occurs months after multiple similar accidents of deaths of Indian tourists were reported in Nepal.
An eighteen-year-old boy from India lost his life while swimming in Nepal's Tinau river in May 2025, reported The Rising Nepal.
A resident of Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj district, Sohaib Ansari went missing at around 4 pm on May 22, while swimming in the Tinau River at the dam side in Tinau-3, Palpa after repeated warnings by the authorities to avoid entering the river.
Sohaib was visiting Nepal along with his four other friends at the time of the incident, said the TRN report.
Another report by The Kathmandu Post in the same month, a 15-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur drowned in the Tinau river and lost his life while swimming.
The Palpa district of Nepal, saw another death earlier this year, in March, where a 25-year-old man from Gorakhpur, Shivam Pandey, went missing while swimming, reported Makalukhabar.
Five days later, his body was discovered nearly one kilometer downstream from the Ramdi Ghat in the Bagnaskali Rural Municipality-5 of Palpa district, the report added.

Dalit woman gang-raped, fiance assaulted in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi; 3 arrested

A 20-year-old Dalit woman, who had gone out with her fiance in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district, was allegedly raped by four men who also assaulted her male partner, said a police official on Wednesday. The police immediately registered a case on the duo's complaint and sent them to a community health centre in Semaria for treatment, said the ASP. (Pexels/Representative) Four persons were involved in the gang-rape and three of them have been arrested, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Arvind Srivastava told PTI. Five police teams have been deployed to nab the absconding accused, he informed. He said the victim, a resident of an area under Churhat police station limits, had gone out with her fiance on Tuesday. After parking their motorcycle on the roadside near Kathoutha, they went to a nearby hill. Four men roaming in the area spotted the couple. They beat up the woman's fiance and chased him away, said the police officer. "After this, the accused took turns to rape the woman," Srivastava stated. The official said after escaping from the clutches of the accused, the woman contacted her fiance and both of them reached the Semaria police station where they narrated the horrific incident to cops. The police immediately registered a case on the duo's complaint and sent them to a community health centre in Semaria for treatment, said the ASP. The opposition Congress targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over the gang-rape incident and added the crime has exposed the sorry state of law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh. State Congress president Jitu Patwari said the shameful incident tarnishes the entire humanity and also highlights the 'horrific state' of law and order. "In the last three years alone, 7,418 incidents of rape of Dalit and tribal women, 338 gang-rapes and 558 murders have been registered in Madhya Pradesh. On an average, seven Dalit or tribal daughters are becoming victims of this cruelty every day. These figures prove the failure of the BJP government," the former minister maintained. Patwari alleged that due to inaction on part of the BJP government, crimes have increased in the state and victims are not getting justice.

Shama Parveen Ansari, who resided in Bengaluru, was taken into custody by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on July 29 for allegedly disseminating extremist ideologies linked to Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), a proscribed terrorist group. Authorities claim that Ansari used her social media platforms to push radical narratives and called for militant actions against India. According to the ATS, Ansari managed two Facebook pages and one Instagram account with a total following of around 10,000. These platforms were reportedly used to circulate violent, anti-national content, including speeches from extremist clerics and propaganda material supporting AQIS ideologies, news agency PTI reported. Following India's launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7 — an anti-terror campaign targeting militant hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir — Ansari publicly urged Pakistan Army chief General Asim Munir to take aggressive military action against India. In a May 9 social media post, she called on Munir to seize what she described as a "golden opportunity" to restore Islamic rule under the banner of "Project Khilafat" and dismantle ideologies like Hindutva and Zionism, the report said. She also reposted content from Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Aziz of Lahore, who called for armed rebellion to bring about an Islamic caliphate in India. A third video posted by Ansari allegedly featured an AQIS leader encouraging violent campaigns against Indian democracy and the Hindu community, invoking the narrative of 'Ghazwa-e-Hind' — a radical concept advocating for the conquest of India. These individuals also allegedly used Instagram to share similar extremist content, the report added. Bizarre! ‘Donald Trump' of Bihar's Hasanpur village applies for residence certificate ahead of election

In a bizarre trend ahead of the state elections, 'Donald Trump,' a resident of Hasanpur village in Samastipur district, has applied for a residence certificate in Bihar. According to the news agency PTI, a prankster posing as the American president applied for the Bihar residence certificate online on July 29. And surely enough, the person had his research on point. The applicant, posing as 'Donald Trump,' a resident of Hasanpur village, said his parents' names were Frederick Christ Trump and Mary Anne MacLeod, the same as the father and mother of the US President, respectively. However, the district administration ordered lodging of an FIR so that the mischief monger could be tracked down and brought to book. In a statement, the administration said the revenue department official concerned 'turned it down on August 4'. 'It appears there is a diabolical attempt to negatively impact the special intensive revision of electoral rolls which is underway as per the instructions of the Election Commission,' the administration stated. The Samastipur administration also said, 'In view of the seriousness of the offence, a case has been lodged at the Cyber police station, Samastipur, for appropriate investigation and action.' Donald Trump was the fourth incident of its kind reported in the state since the Election Commission began its mammoth exercise in June. Recently, applications were received in rural Patna and Nawada in the name of canines named 'dog babu,' and 'dogesh babu,' respectively. In East Champaran district, an application was received in the name of 'Sonalika tractor,' with the photograph of a Bhojpuri actress. Applications in all the aforementioned cases have been rejected, and FIRs were lodged at the police stations concerned. Senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala shared a news clip that said 'certificate has been issued' in favour of the application. 'This is the biggest proof that electoral roll revision in Bihar is a fraud, aimed at stealing votes,' Surjewala said. He said, 'Keeping quiet in such a situation is a crime. Let us all raise our voices and become watchdogs of democracy.' The Samastipur administration explained to Surjewala that the certificate has never been issued. 'Somebody has deliberately made such an application and it was rejected during scrutiny. An FIR has also been lodged. The guilty will not be spared,' they shared, correcting the politician.
