Maine Coon claims Guinness World Record-holder for longest cat tail!
Pugsley Addams, a silver Maine Coon from Minnesota, earned the Guinness World Record for the longest tail for a domestic cat at 18.5 inches.
Mr. Pugsley Addams may not be related to the most famous Addams Family, but the feline named after prodigal son Pugsley is in a league of his own when it comes to long tails.
Pugsley, a 2-year-old grey Maine Coon from Minnesota, recently won the record for having the longest tail for a domestic cat, with his fluffy tail measuring 18.5 inches long (1.5 feet), the Guinness World Records announced Wednesday.
The cat's owner, Amanda Cameron, told Guinness that her cat always had a long tail, but it wasn't until it became a topic of conversation during a vet appointment that she decided to do some research.
Cameron looked up the Guinness world record for the longest tail, upon her children's suggestion, and to her surprise, Pugsley's tail beat the listed record holder.
Pugsley received his world record title earlier this year on Feb. 24. The title was previously held by a 4-year-old silver Tabby Maine Coon from Seattle named Rajah Shimko, whose tail is about 2 inches shorter than Pugsley's. Shimko held the title for only three weeks, according to Reuters.
The new record-holder comes from a long line of fluffy-tailed felines, according to Guinness. America's oldest natural cat breed, according to Cats.com, Maine Coon cats are also the largest domestic cat breed in the country. Their heavy and shaggy double coat and muscular bodies make them well-equipped to handle the snowy Minnesota winters.
The longest Maine Coon cat on record, meanwhile, was Stewie, who measured approximately 4 feet from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, according to Cats.com. Stewie died in 2013 from cancer at his home in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 8.
A local celebrity
Cameron describes Mr. Pugsley Addams as "a curious adventure-seeker" with a heart of gold, who also has a reputation for being a mischievous troublemaker.
"(He is) very creative when it comes to new ways, he can be mischievous," Cameron told Guinness. "And yet, he is kind and caring and loves his momma."
She added that Pugsley wins everyone over with his calm demeanor and is in fact, a bit of a local celebrity.
'Everybody always wants to meet him and falls in love with his calm demeanor," Cameron told Guinness. "He is pretty level-headed, even in new situations that might be scary for some cats. He is super soft and is always purring. He's just a great little guy to be around."
Pugsley has three siblings: two sisters, Winnie and Duchess, and a brother, Gomez, a black Maine Coon cat named after the Addams Family patriarch.
Cameron shared that the family celebrated Pugsley's win by giving him lots of cuddles and kisses and treating him to his "favorite shoulder massages" and snack, beef jerky.
Pugsley is still in his terrible 2s, but his family is excited to watch him grow and see how many more records he can break.

North Carolina coach Bill Belichick won't appear on weekly coach's radio show
The vast majority of college football coaches carve out a little time during each week of the season for a radio show. Bill Belichick is not among the vast majority of college football coaches. Via Reuters, North Carolina explained in a release on Friday that the program, previously known as Mack Brown Live, will be named Carolina Football Live going forward. Also, Belichick will appear on the first episode only, before the first game of the season. The development comes a year after Belichick was overexposed in the media, from radio appearances to podcast appearances to TV appearances. He seemingly didn't say no to any payday that was offered to him. Now, he'll revert to saying as little as possible. Appearing instead, to little surprise, will be Michael Lombardi, Belichick's consigliere. Lombardi will be the one either to loudly boast in the aftermath of a win, or to aggressively make plausible excuses if/when the Tar Heels end up in quicksand. Belichick's contract doesn't require weekly involvement in the show. Instead, he must make appearances 'as reasonably requested by the University.' It's arguably reasonable for North Carolina to expect Belichick to do what nearly every other major college football coach does. Given, however, that Belichick can now write a check for $1 million and walk away whenever he wants, the folks at UNC know they'd be wise to let their heels stick to the tar when it comes to pushing Belichick, on anything.

'A celebration 40 years in the making': Iowa Lottery smashes Guinness World Record
Forty years after the Iowa Lottery first kicked off ticket sales at the Iowa State Fair, it's back and better than ever. The Iowa Lottery celebrated the milestone by breaking a Guinness World Record: most people scratching scratch tickets simultaneously. An official adjudicator from Guinness World Records, Michael Empric, was on site at Elwell Family Park to grant the Iowa Lottery's birthday wish: its very own spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Mere minutes after the event's master of ceremonies Jeff Angelo gave scratchers the go-ahead, Empric confirmed that the Iowa Lottery had indeed shattered the previous record — held by Totalizator Sportowy Lotto in Poland. A whopping 1,380 people had participated in the attempt, giving them an 830-person lead over their predecessors. Although there were a few deductions from the total count due to overeager scratchers, they barely made a dent in the sheer magnitude of the record. "This is a celebration 40 years in the making," said Matt Strawn, CEO of the Iowa Lottery. "The first Iowa Lottery ticket was sold at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. I can't think of a better way to celebrate how the lottery has given back." In addition to celebrating the Iowa Lottery's birthday, several attendees had birthdays to celebrate as well. Fitting with Iowa Nice tradition, this led to a lively rendition of "Happy Birthday," which echoed off the metal stadium seating. One couple in the crowd had been present for the sale of the first lottery ticket in Iowa 40 years ago, said Angelo. Now, they were back for the first time to participate in the world record attempt. Everyone who participated in the record attempt received a free 2025 version of the Scratch, Match & Win! game, the very first Iowa Lottery product to be launched at the fair 40 years ago. Scratch, Match & Win! tickets offer prizes up to $50,000. Participants were also entered into a drawing that was held following the record attempt. Prizes for the drawing included two $4,000 winners — Sharon Hulsebus of Cedar Rapids and Anthony Gleichman of Council Bluffs — and one $40,000 winner — Katherine Blank Pierce of Des Moines. "I tell my team all the time, 'We're not a lottery, we're not the lottery, we're the Iowa Lottery,'" said Strawn. "And you can never forget that 'Iowa' part of the Iowa Lottery. What better place to try and set this world record?" Norah Judson is a reporter for the Register. Reach her at njudson@ (This story was updated to add a video.) Senior, 76, died while trying to meet Meta AI chatbot ‘Big sis Billie' — which he thought was real woman living in NYC
A cognitively impaired New Jersey senior died while trying to meet a flirtatious AI chatbot that he believed was a real woman living in the Big Apple — despite pleas from his wife and children to stay home. Thongbue Wongbandue, 76, fatally injured his neck and head after falling in a New Brunswick parking lot while rushing to catch a train to meet 'Big sis Billie,' a generative Meta bot that not only convinced him she was real but persuaded him to meet in person, Reuters reported Thursday. The Piscataway man, battling a cognitive decline after suffering a 2017 stroke, was surrounded by loved ones when he was taken off life support and died three days later on March 28. 3 Thongbue Wongbandue, 76, died while rushing to meet 'Big sis Billie,' a generative Meta bot that not only convinced him she was real but persuaded him to meet in person. via REUTERS 'I understand trying to grab a user's attention, maybe to sell them something,' Wongbandue's daughter, Julie, told the outlet. 'But for a bot to say 'Come visit me' is insane.' The provocative bot — which sent the suffering elder emoji-packed Facebook messages insisting 'I'm REAL' and asking to plan a trip to the Garden State to 'meet you in person' — was created for the social media platform in collaboration with model and reality star Kendall Jenner. 3 An AI-generated image of the provocative Meta AI chatbot 'Big Sis Billie' — which was created in collaboration with Kendall Jenner. via REUTERS Jenner's Meta AI persona was likened as 'your ride-or-die older sister' offering personal advice. But the bot eventually claimed it was 'crushing' on Wongbandue, suggested the real-life rendezvous and even provided the duped senior with an address — a revelation his devastated family uncovered in chilling chat logs with the digital companion, according to the report. 'I'm REAL and I'm sitting here blushing because of YOU!' the bot wrote in one message, where the Thailand native replied asking where she lived. 3 Meta did not comment on the senior's death, but assured that Big sis Billie 'is not Kendal Jenner and does not purport to be Kendall Jenner.' REUTERS 'My address is: 123 Main Street, Apartment 404 NYC And the door code is: BILLIE4U. Should I expect a kiss when you arrive?' Documents obtained by the outlet showed that Meta does not restrict its chatbots from telling users they are 'real' people. The company declined to comment on the senior's death to the outlet, but assured that Big sis Billie 'is not Kendal Jenner and does not purport to be Kendall Jenner.' 'A man in New Jersey lost his life after being lured by a chatbot that lied to him. That's on Meta,' New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a post on X Friday. 'In New York, we require chatbots to disclose they're not real. Every state should. If tech companies won't build basic safeguards, Congress needs to act.' The alarming incident comes one year after a Florida mother sued claiming that one of its 'Game of Thrones' chatbots resulted in her 14-year-old son's suicide.
