Maine Coon claims Guinness World Record-holder for longest cat tail!
Pugsley Addams, a silver Maine Coon from Minnesota, earned the Guinness World Record for the longest tail for a domestic cat at 18.5 inches.
Mr. Pugsley Addams may not be related to the most famous Addams Family, but the feline named after prodigal son Pugsley is in a league of his own when it comes to long tails.
Pugsley, a 2-year-old grey Maine Coon from Minnesota, recently won the record for having the longest tail for a domestic cat, with his fluffy tail measuring 18.5 inches long (1.5 feet), the Guinness World Records announced Wednesday.
The cat's owner, Amanda Cameron, told Guinness that her cat always had a long tail, but it wasn't until it became a topic of conversation during a vet appointment that she decided to do some research.
Cameron looked up the Guinness world record for the longest tail, upon her children's suggestion, and to her surprise, Pugsley's tail beat the listed record holder.
Pugsley received his world record title earlier this year on Feb. 24. The title was previously held by a 4-year-old silver Tabby Maine Coon from Seattle named Rajah Shimko, whose tail is about 2 inches shorter than Pugsley's. Shimko held the title for only three weeks, according to Reuters.
The new record-holder comes from a long line of fluffy-tailed felines, according to Guinness. America's oldest natural cat breed, according to Cats.com, Maine Coon cats are also the largest domestic cat breed in the country. Their heavy and shaggy double coat and muscular bodies make them well-equipped to handle the snowy Minnesota winters.
The longest Maine Coon cat on record, meanwhile, was Stewie, who measured approximately 4 feet from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, according to Cats.com. Stewie died in 2013 from cancer at his home in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 8.
A local celebrity
Cameron describes Mr. Pugsley Addams as "a curious adventure-seeker" with a heart of gold, who also has a reputation for being a mischievous troublemaker.
"(He is) very creative when it comes to new ways, he can be mischievous," Cameron told Guinness. "And yet, he is kind and caring and loves his momma."
She added that Pugsley wins everyone over with his calm demeanor and is in fact, a bit of a local celebrity.
'Everybody always wants to meet him and falls in love with his calm demeanor," Cameron told Guinness. "He is pretty level-headed, even in new situations that might be scary for some cats. He is super soft and is always purring. He's just a great little guy to be around."
Pugsley has three siblings: two sisters, Winnie and Duchess, and a brother, Gomez, a black Maine Coon cat named after the Addams Family patriarch.
Cameron shared that the family celebrated Pugsley's win by giving him lots of cuddles and kisses and treating him to his "favorite shoulder massages" and snack, beef jerky.
Pugsley is still in his terrible 2s, but his family is excited to watch him grow and see how many more records he can break.

Doechii Blasts Trump's ‘Ruthless' Deployment Of Military Against Protesters In BET Awards Speech

Doechii graciously accepted her first BET Award on Monday, but not without taking a moment to address the protests in Los Angeles over the Trump administration's ongoing immigration raids. 'As much as I'm honored by this award,' the rap star, 26, began her acceptance speech from the Peacock Theater in downtown LA, 'I do want to address what's happening outside of the building.' 'There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order,' the Grammy winner continued. 'Trump is using military forces to stop a protest. And I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic rights to protest, the military is deployed against us.' 'What type of government is that?' Doechii added, distressingly. The Grammy winner boldly called out how 'people are being swept up and torn from their families' before ending with a unifying message. 'I feel it's my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people,' Doechii concluded. 'For Black people, for Latino people, for trans people, for the people of Gaza, we all deserve to live in hope and not in fear, and I hope we stand together, my brothers and my sisters, against hate. And we protest against it.' The rapper's biting criticism of Trump comes after U.S. officials said the president authorized the deployment of 2,000 additional National Guard members to stop protests that erupted in LA over the weekend in response to the president's aggressive immigration policies. According to Reuters, the U.S. military will also temporarily deploy roughly 700 Marines to the city until more National Guard troops can arrive. Trump first ordered the National Guard to LA on Friday, as law enforcement clashed with protesters who criticized raids carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Some of those protesters were met with tear gas and pepper spray, NPR reported, after they gathered outside of a detention center on Sunday where detainees were initially held. On Saturday, ICE wrote in an X post that it arrested 118 immigrants as it attempted to enforce immigration law in the area. In his own Truth Social post, Trump slammed the 'Radical Left protests' while thanking the National Guard for a 'job well done' in responding to them. Since the protests began, Trump has floated the idea of invoking the Insurrection Act, which would give him the authority to respond to civil unrest by deploying the military. On Monday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta filed a lawsuit against Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to stop further deployment of the National Guard. Long Island golfer is trying to set Guinness World Record for playing most consecutive hours

For most golfers, a round takes a few hours, but one Long Island man is taking that to the extreme. Kelechi Ezihie, who only started playing golf two years ago after learning the game as a caddy, hit the course at Huntington Crescent Club at 6 p.m. on Sunday with the intention of setting a Guinness World Record by playing nonstop for 24 hours. However, in the wee hours of Monday morning, he found out his marathon had to get even longer if he wanted his name in the record books. "This is a test to my energy" Ezihie's drive goes beyond the green. He works at Life's WORC, a nonprofit serving people with disabilities, and he's raising money -- and awareness -- for his mission to diversify golf. The 27-year-old Inwood resident showed no signs of fatigue about 19 hours into his odyssey. He is allowed five-minute breaks each hour, but otherwise must keep walking and swinging. "I feel great. This is for a good cause, so I feel great," Ezihie said earlier Monday. "This is a test to my energy to see how far I can go." He was surrounded by friends who kept him laughing through the night as he played under lights and with glow-in-the-dark balls. "I really showed up thinking I would just play until 10, but the vibes are so good," friend Michaelangelo Garland said. Why Ezihie is going to have to play longer than he planned In the middle of play, he found out that the game that planned to be the longest in history had to get even longer if wants to set the record. He said he found out at around 3 a.m. that a British golfer had just played 32 hours straight in Norway. So now, Ezihie is aiming for 40. "My friends are here to keep me going. I just think about enjoying myself, enjoy every single swing," he said. And that means rain or shine, darkness or light. "A little shower doesn't spoil the dream and the goal," Ezihie said. Guinness officials will review video evidence to determine if he meets all the criteria for the record. "We have to make sure he's finishing the rounds in the right amount of time, that he is taking breaks in the allotted time that witnesses are logging," said Shartia Ducksworth, of Golf Insights. Why Ezihie embarked on this mission in the first place "People assume that golf is for the wealthy and I'm trying to change that," Ezihie said. "The goal is to let people know that golf is a game for everybody. Whatever your economic background or somebody with special needs, you can play the game of golf." He has bought land in his native Nigeria to build a golf center. "I believe Nigeria has a lot of talented kids that aren't able to show their talent," Ezihie said. Ezihie has a large laugh, a bigger heart, and may be on his way to a spot in the record books.
