Killer's chilling excuse after butchering two women in 'horror movie' rampage

Jazwell Brown, who has today been sentenced to life in jail with a minimum term of 39 years, made a shocking remark to officers after stabbing Joanne Pearson and Teohna Grant to death in a frenzied rampage
On Christmas Day last year, two women lost their lives in a brutal rampage 'straight out of a horror film'.
Jazwell Brown, who has today been sentenced to life in jail, attacked his partner Joanne Pearson, 38, and neighbour Teohna Grant, 24, in Bletchley, Milton Keynes.

He then drove away "like nothing had happened", to the shock of neighbours who'd been carrying on their festive celebrations.

The 49-year-old double killer, who used a kitchen knife in the attack, also attempted to stab two others to death -Teohna's partner 29-year-old Bradley Latter, and a teenage boy.
Both Bradley and the teen were hospitalised with serious injuries, but thankfully survived. Joanne and Teohna tragically both died at the scene.
Today Brown was was jailed for life for the two murders, and was told he will serve a minimum of 38 years and 194 days behind bars. He was also sentenced to 18 years for attempting to kill the teenager, and 21 years for attempting to kill Bradley, both to run concurrently to the murder sentence.
Following his arrest, Brown chillingly told police: "I lost my cool tonight". He went on to describe his crime as "plain murder, not self-defence", the Mail Online reports.
Back in April, during an in person hearing at Luton Crown Court, Brown confessed to two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. He also pleaded guilty to one count each of possession of a knife in a public place and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, Joanne's pet Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Tilly.

Remembering the aftermath of the shocking incident, a witness, who did not wish to be named, previously told the Mirror that a man "walked out of the flat super chilled with his hands in his pockets.". They said: "It was like nothing had happened. He got in his car and drove off, no fuss. It was nuts.
"We heard banging on a door next to us, and there was a lad covered in blood and shouting 'I've been stabbed'. He had a chest wound and a head wound. We looked out and on the balcony of one of the flats, there was a woman in distress saying, 'I can't breathe, I can't breathe'.
"There was a dog, which is a bit like a staffie, running around the estate for an hour and a half covered in blood. It went in my friend's porch and there was a pool of blood."

They continued: "They have lived there about two years. The whole thing was crazy; my boy had to hear all that on Christmas Day. I had to calm my family down; it was so distressing. When the police arrived, they flashed torches up to the balcony where the woman's body lay. It was horrendous.'
Handing down sentencing today, Mr Justice Kerr told Brown: "The terrible crimes you committed on that day have torn apart the lives of many people. I have seen and heard the moving statements by your many living victims.
"Joanne's mother, Susan Pearson, has lost her loving daughter. Her sister Samantha is also devastated. Joanne was 38 when you murdered her. She will never see her parents, sister and large extended family again.

"Christmas will be a time of dread, stress, grief and mourning for the family. They are haunted by the suffering Joanne must have endured in her final minutes."
During April's hearing, Charles Miskin KC, defending, stated that Brown had shown remorse for his actions and that he was "profoundly sorry".

Celia Mardon, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said that the "inexplicable" attack was an act of "mindless violence". She said: "This was an inexplicable attack which has done irreversible damage – robbing two women of their lives and seriously injuring two others.
"The strength of the prosecution's case, which featured compelling witness, CCTV and forensic evidence, gave Jazwell Brown little choice but to admit his guilt, and we are pleased that those affected by this tragic event have been spared the process of a trial.
"While we may never know why Brown committed such mindless violence, we must remember the two lives that were needlessly lost. Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of Joanne and Teohna, and we hope that today's result provides them with some closure."

‘Cocaine-fuelled' knifeman killed partner and neighbour on Christmas Day

Brown then made his way across the communal landing to the flat next door, where Mr Latter and Ms Grant, who had left their door unlocked, were sitting in the living room enjoying a quiet Christmas Day, the court heard. The defendant then stabbed both victims multiple times with a 'blank' face, Ms Heer said. After leaving the second flat, Brown then fled the scene in his car, forcing his way through police officers trying to stop him, before driving off without switching his headlights on. His car was eventually brought to a halt by armed police in Milton Keynes, with a bloodstained knife found on the passenger seat and spots of Ms Pearson's and Mr Latter's blood found on his trainers, the court heard. While in a cell following his arrest, Brown made the unsolicited comment that he had 'gone f------ crazy', before later saying: 'Not self-defence. Murder. It's plain murder, not self-defence. Murder.' Mr Justice Kerr sentenced Brown to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 39 years for each of the murders, with the sentences to run concurrently. He also handed down 21 years' and 18 years' imprisonment for the attempted murders of Mr Latter and Jake Brown respectively, an 18-month sentence for possession of a knife in a public place and a nine-month sentence for causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, all to run concurrently.

'Murder' victim found in exploded house named as 'lovely' human rights lawyer A beloved mother-of-two and human rights lawyer has been identified as the woman found with fatal stab wounds after a house explosion this morning. A huge emergency response including six fire engines and 40 firefighters raced to the two-storey terraced house where an explosion had torn through the basement and ground floor of the east London residence. ‌ The victim has been formally identified as 46-year-old mother and human rights lawyer Annabel Rook, whose body was found with knife wound injuries after the explosion. However, fast forward to 2025, the former Top Gear star's agriculture show has just finished its fourth series, with a fifth series already on the way. This season saw Jeremy Clarkson invest in a pub, The Farmer's Dog, so our Deputy Content Hub Director, Steffan Rhys, went to go and check it out. He wrote: "There was a full-blown security and parking operation guiding arrivals into an enormous adjacent field with hundreds, if not thousands, of cars already parked in it. Visitors streamed like ants in formation between car park and pub and the stunned "bloody hell!" I heard from a fellow visitor pretty much sums up what I was thinking too. ‌ "I'd naively thought that, given I had a lunch reservation (secured easily, several weeks earlier, on the pub website) it would be a quiet affair. Killer who stabbed his partner, neighbour and dog on Christmas Day learns fate ‌ A man who murdered his partner and neighbour and tried to kill his own son in an unprovoked and 'frenzied' attack after taking cocaine on Christmas Day has been jailed for life. Jazwell Brown attacked his partner Joanne Pearson with a kitchen knife at their home in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire, at around 6.30pm on December 25 last year. He stabbed her 31 times before turning the knife and a baseball bat on his son Jake Brown, with the youngster remarkably surviving his injuries. Brown went on to repeatedly stab Jo's dog Tilly, a Staffordshire bull terrier, who was later spotted on CCTV limping from the scene. Brown then headed next door to another flat and began attacking Teohna Grant. He also stabbed Teohna's boyfriend 29-year-old Bradley Latter who survived, while Teohna was also pronounced dead at the scene. Police previously said the dog had died, but they have since been informed Tilly survived. ‌ 'LEAKED' Premier League fixtures for 2025-26 season - but fans spot major issues As many football fans await the Premier League 's return, our sports team got their hands on a reportedly 'leaked' list of Premier League fixtures for the 2025-26 season. However, the list - which has been leaked and widely shared on social media platforms - is not as it seems. ‌ As is the case at this time of year, amid growing anticipation among supporters, social media has been awash with claims and fixtures coming to light early. One set in particular have been gaining quite a bit of traction. On the face of it, they look pretty legit. The usual font and layout used when the fixtures are actually released is certainly present. But dig a little deeper and issues arise. Most notable among them are a number of admin errors which, perhaps if you're only casting a casual glance and looking at the opening weekend, or even just for your club's full list, you wouldn't see.

Woman stabbed to death on Christmas Day after she and partner left door unlocked

Teohna Grant, 24, was stabbed to death by her neighbour Jazwell Brown, who also murdered his partner Joanne Pearson and tried to kill two more people, including his son A young woman who was spending Christmas Day with her boyfriend was killed by her drugged-up neighbour in a "frenzied" attack after they left their door unlocked. Jazwell Brown, 49, fatally stabbed his partner Joanne Pearson, 38, with a kitchen knife and beat her with a baseball bat in their flat in Milton Keynes while high on crack cocaine. He then attempted to do the same to his 18-year-old son Jake Brown, who survived the incident, Luton Crown Court was told. Brown then entered his neighbour's flat where he killed Teohna Grant, 24, and tried to murder her boyfriend Bradley Latter, 29, by stabbing him multiple times. Ms Pearson was stabbed 31 times in the attack, while Ms Grant suffered five sharp force injuries, including a deep stab wound to the neck. The attacker's son was left with a life-threatening wound to his chest. ‌ ‌ Brown, who carried out the unprovoked attacks after taking cocaine, appeared in court today, where he was jailed for life. Mr Justice Kerr sentenced Brown to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 39 years. He told the defendant: "The terrible crimes you committed that day have torn apart the lives of many people." The judge said he accepted a psychiatric report that "the use of illegal drugs was the immediate trigger of the attacks", adding: "That intoxication was voluntary." He said that Brown's assault on his son Jake was "a terrible betrayal of a son's natural trust in his father". Earlier, the court heard the defendant had lived on the second floor of a communal housing block in Santa Cruz Avenue, Bletchley, and had been in an "unhealthy" relationship with Ms Pearson for several years, with both taking Class A drugs. Jake Brown visited their flat on the evening of December 25 last year, and the defendant "seemed to become suspicious" after Ms Pearson was reluctant to smoke crack cocaine in front of the teenager, prosecutor Deanna Heer KC said. "The defendant then picked up a screwdriver and a kitchen knife from the table in the living room and approached Pearson, who asked him what he was doing and tried to walk away," the prosecutor said. "Without saying a word, he began to stab her with the knife repeatedly in a frenzied attack. ‌ "Jake Brown tried to pull his father away from her, only for the defendant to turn to him and stab him in the chest." The teenager called the police as he hid in the bathroom, where he heard Ms Pearson's dog Tilly squeal as if in pain, before Brown breached the room, holding the baseball bat. Brown then made his way across the communal landing to the flat next door, where Mr Latter and Ms Grant, who had left their door unlocked, were sitting in the living room enjoying a quiet Christmas day, the court heard. The defendant then stabbed both victims multiple times with a "blank" face, Ms Heer said. ‌ After leaving the second flat, Brown then fled the scene in his car, forcing his way through police officers trying to stop him, before driving off without switching his headlights on. His car was eventually brought to a halt by armed police in Milton Keynes, with a bloodstained knife found on the passenger seat and spots of Ms Pearson's and Mr Latter's blood found on his trainers, the court heard. Whilst in a cell following his arrest, Brown made the unsolicited comment that he had "gone f****** crazy", before later saying: "Not self-defence. Murder. It's plain murder, not self-defence. Murder." ‌ Mr Justice Kerr sentenced Brown to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 39 years for each of the murders of Ms Pearson and Ms Grant, with the sentences to run concurrently. He also handed down 21 years imprisonment and 18 years imprisonment for the attempted murders of Mr Litter and Jake Brown respectively, an 18-month sentence for possession of a knife in a public place and a nine-month sentence for causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, all to run concurrently. Appearing in the dock, Brown spoke only to confirm his identity and showed no emotion when the sentence was passed. ‌ Family members supporting the victims in the public gallery could be heard shouting at the defendant and applauding as they left the courtroom. Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin of Thames Valley Police said: "The events that unfolded on that day were truly horrific and tragic. "We may never know what prompted Brown to behave the way he did. In his own home, he stabbed his partner Jo 31 times, before turning the knife and a baseball bat on a teenage boy. Brown also repeatedly stabbed Jo's dog, Tilly, who survived despite her injuries. What remains even more incomprehensible is why Brown then left his home and tried the front door of a nearby flat, taking the knife and baseball bat with him. "It was in this flat that he stabbed Teohna multiple times, causing fatal injuries. Teohna's partner Bradley was also brutally attacked, sustaining more than 20 injuries to his neck alone. Somehow, Bradley survived." Mr Brangwin said the scenes faced by emergency services following the incident were "indescribable". ‌ He added: "The surviving victims and the families of Teohna and Jo have suffered enormously throughout this process. I would like to thank them for placing their trust in Thames Valley Police and the Crown Prosecution Service, allowing us the time and space to thoroughly investigate and bring Brown to justice." Lawyer Celia Mardon, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "We worked closely with Thames Valley Police to build a case to secure justice for all of those affected by Jazwell Brown's inexplicable and violent actions. Compelling evidence in our case included the accounts of eyewitnesses which were supported by forensic evidence. "DNA from a baseball bat found in the kitchen and a knife recovered from Brown's car pointed to these being the weapons he used in the attack. Blood from some of the victims was also on his trainers and clothing. And while in custody, Brown made self-incriminating remarks, including 'Not self-defence. Murder. It's plain murder'. "Given the overwhelming evidence against him, Brown admitted to his crimes, thankfully sparing the victims' families and friends the ordeal of a trial. We hope that today's sentence helps them in some small way to find the strength and support they need as they continue on their path towards healing."
