Circus performers hit the highwire in Dartmouth, N.S., this weekend.
Canada Circus Spectacular was at the Zatzman Sportsplex for two shows Sunday afternoon. This was just one stop in the 90-show summer program.
'It takes a lot honestly. Early mornings and sometimes late nights. At the beginning we had to learn how to put this up and take it down faster,' says spokesperson, Aaron Ketchum.

Canada Circus Spectacular is in Bridgewater for two shows tomorrow before heading to Amherst for a single show Tuesday.
The productions will then move on to its New Brunswick performances with dates across the province from June 18 to 25.

Cape Breton musicians save the day after Sloan's gear doesn't show up

Tony Leudy and Stephen Campbell lent their gear to Sloan during Red Farm Field Trip music festival. (CTV Atlantic/Katie Kelly) The first-ever Red Farm Field Trip music festival wrapped up with a bang in Cape Breton, thanks to some last-minute local heroics that helped keep the show on the road. Canadian rock legends Sloan were set to headline Sunday night's performance in Howie Centre, N.S., but just hours before taking the stage, they found themselves without their gear. While the band made it to Cape Breton, their equipment didn't. 'My phone was blowing up,' said Stephen Campbell, a local musician. 'I had about seven different people calling and texting me, asking if I had any gear on this list.' Campbell and fellow musician Tony Leudy were two of the locals who quickly stepped in to help, answering the call from organizers who were scrambling to find replacements. 'They said 'Sloan's gear didn't arrive. Do you have anything?'' Campbell said. 'And I was like, 'I have pretty much all of it.'' Gear The gear Tony Leudy and Stephen Campbell loaned to Sloan. (Source: Stephen Campbell) Within the hour, Campbell had packed up bags of guitar pedals, guitars, straps, picks and strings and raced to the festival grounds to help set up. The generosity didn't go unnoticed. Sloan gave mid-set shout-outs to the local crew who saved the show, turning a potential cancellation into an unforgettable night. 'It was pretty cool,' said Campbell. 'I'd grown up listening to them, and then looking up on stage and they're playing your guitars and pedals - it was amazing.' Campbell is a member of RG Schaller and the Peacemakers, who have several upcoming shows including a spot at Rock the Fiddle.

Aziz Ansari kicks off Halifax Great Outdoors Comedy Festival Thursday

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival is returning to Halifax this week, with Emmy-winning comedian and actor Aziz Ansari as opening night headliner. In an interview with CTV Atlantic's Katie Kelly, Ansari said he's looking forward to his first time in Halifax. 'I hear it's a beautiful outdoor venue, and I love doing outdoor shows like that,' said Ansari. This stop is part of Ansari's 'Hypothetical Tour' which talks about a new chapter in his life. 'I just got married, and we're trying to have kids, so I'm talking about all the headaches that come with that.' This marks the third year for the Halifax edition of the travelling comedy festival. Mike Anderson with Trixstar Entertainment says this year's lineup is the biggest yet. 'We've got Tony Hinchcliffe and & The Killers of Kill Tony on Friday,' he said. 'Saturday is a festival in itself - we've got Jeff Arcuri for the matinee, and in the evening, Ms. Pat, Whitney Cummings, and Bert 'The Machine' Kreischer.' The laughs continue on Sunday with a stacked lineup featuring John Mulaney, Fred Armisen, Nick Kroll, and Mike Birbiglia. 'Live comedy is the best,' said Ansari. 'It's so cool to travel around and see how much people are into coming out and seeing standup these days. I'm excited to do it in Halifax.' Anderson says the festival has grown thanks to support from the local comedy community and audiences across the Maritimes. 'We're excited to welcome Halifax and all the visitors to this amazing city and these beautiful grounds,' he said.
