Gaza hospitals report eight famine deaths, including a child, in past 24 hours
The latest figures bring the total number of deaths attributed to starvation and malnutrition in the besieged territory to 188, including 94 children, amid a worsening humanitarian catastrophe fueled by "Israel's" ongoing blockade and military assault.
In its daily update, the ministry reported that 87 Palestinians were killed in the last 24 hours, including eight bodies retrieved from beneath rubble, and 644 others were injured. It warned that many victims remain trapped under the debris or in the streets, unreachable due to the inability of emergency crews and civil defense teams to operate safely.
The death toll from "Israel's" genocide, which began on October 7, 2023, has now climbed to 61,020, with at least 150,671 wounded.
Since March 18, 2025 alone, Gaza has witnessed 9,519 deaths and 38,630 injuries, underscoring the escalating scale of the conflict's toll in recent months.
The health ministry also highlighted the ongoing tragedy of those killed while seeking food, water, or aid. Over the past 24 hours, 52 Palestinians were killed and 352 were wounded while trying to access humanitarian assistance. This brings the total number of aid-seeking casualties who reached hospitals to 1,568 dead and over 11,230 injured.
The ministry reiterated that the true toll is likely higher, as dozens remain buried under rubble or in inaccessible areas due to the relentless Israeli bombardment and the collapse of emergency services.
The crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, with health officials warning of a looming public health disaster as famine, disease, and displacement spread across the strip.

At least 20 dead as aid truck overturns in central Gaza
At least 20 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured early Wednesday when a truck loaded with food aid overturned in the central Gaza city of Deir al-Balah, according to Palestinian medical sources. The truck was reportedly driving along an unprepared, makeshift road when it tipped over as large crowds of civilians gathered around it, attempting to reach the desperately needed supplies. The chaos resulted in the vehicle overturning directly into the crowd. Medical officials confirmed that the majority of the victims were displaced persons and residents from severely affected areas who have been struggling with extreme food insecurity. Witnesses report that the victims had been waiting for hours to receive the aid being distributed. The incident is the latest in a string of fatal aid-related accidents in the besieged enclave, where access to food, water, and medical assistance remains critically limited. In recent months, hundreds have been killed or wounded during chaotic aid distributions, as international organizations continue to warn of a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation.
