Wynne Evans returning to radio for ‘amazing community' who ‘supported me'

The 53-year-old announced he had been dropped from his BBC Radio Wales show in May after apologising for using 'inappropriate language' during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour. The Welsh opera singer said he will present The Wynne Evans Show from next week, live every weekday from 9am to 12pm on the website Evans said of the show: 'This show is for my amazing community – The Wynners – who've supported me through thick and thin. 'After so many messages and calls asking me to come back, I knew I had to do something special. 'This show is my way of giving back – a space where we can come together every morning, share a laugh, play the music we love, and just be ourselves. It's more than a show – it's a proper family.' The programme will be a mix of music, chat and guests hosted by the singer, who is best known for his appearances on the insurance adverts. Earlier this year, he apologised for language that he called 'inappropriate and unacceptable' after The Mail On Sunday reported that Evans was heard making a remark to a woman in a video filmed during the Strictly launch event. It is understood he was given a warning over the remark by tour producers. In January, he said: 'I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing. 'I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. 'Apologies to those I won't get to see at the remaining performances and I'm grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.' The singer, who won 2023's Celebrity MasterChef, told the Sun on Sunday earlier this month that the Strictly comment was not sexual or directed at one of the female cast but was a nickname for fellow contestant, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick. He told the paper: 'I didn't see the statement. 'Old spit-roast boy' was a nickname for Jamie Borthwick. I'm not a bad guy, I'm not a misogynist, I'm not any of these things.' Evans added: 'And so I went: 'I'm so sorry', and that was taken as a formal apology, so the press team issued a statement. I didn't see it. 'When I read the apology within the context of the story as it had been written, I was absolutely horrified.' In May, Evans claimed in an interview with the newspaper that he had not seen the apology statement before it was issued, an assertion believed to have been dismissed by the BBC It is understood any statement issued on Evans' behalf by the BBC was fully approved by him, and the singer also posted his own statement on Instagram in which he apologised. During his time on Strictly, there was controversy over footage showing him placing his hand on his professional partner Katya Jones' waist, which she moved. They both apologised claiming it had been a 'joke'. The Wynne Evans Show will launch on June 16.

Danish influencer slammed for 'damaging' Skye beauty spot

August Vallat, who goes by the username outdoorgingerchannel and has more than a million followers on Instagram alone, has been told to 'show some respect' after he allegedly damaged a protected beauty spot in the Outer Hebrides. Locals reportedly discovered scorched trees, felled birch wood, and discarded bottles at the Cuillin Hills, near Glenbrittle, which prompted widespread outrage on social media. Vallat, who regularly promotes the ethics of leaving no trace while camping outdoors in his videos, has been accused of hypocrisy after allegedly leaving the area where he stayed 'like a festival site'. Walkers visiting the site after Vallat had stayed allegedly found burnt grass, food wrappers, and trees damaged, the International Business Times reported. READ MORE: Plans for Sicilian-flavoured spaghetti Western backed entirely by female funders Vallat has reportedly deleted several posts from social media relating to his time at Glenbrittle and has blocked people from commenting on certain videos on his Instagram account. In one video posted on Wednesday, which is still on his Instagram, Vallat states he's going to 'survive' in Scotland for three days. In the short clip, he can be seen using an open fire on top of what appears to be a grass verge. Later in the same video, he can be seen, along with two other men he said were Scots, adding what appears to be tree branches to the open fire. Vallat says at the end of the video: 'It's more beautiful than most of the nature I have seen in my life.' However, people have been quick to criticise the Dane with one person commenting under the video: 'What a shame that you think it's ok to come to the Isle of Skye and cut down trees. 'Spread rubbish everywhere. Damage the ground with your fires. 'You then complained when a well known mountaineer 'hurt your feelings' for telling you to clear up your rubbish as you camped on the Cuillin, one of the most spectacular places in the world. 'Unbelievable. Go and educate yourself.' Meanwhile, a second person said: 'Scotland is 'the most beautiful nature' you've seen, yet you choose to come here and cut down trees, leave scars on the landscape from your fire and basically leave it less beautiful than when you arrived. 'How dare you treat our country like this. 'If you actually give a shit about the outdoors, I hope that you take a good hard look at how you have been behaving and think about what you are encouraging your followers to do. They added: 'Show some respect for these beautiful places that you are lucky enough to travel through and the people who live here.' In another video, Vallat and the two other men are then seen drinking bottles of beer while standing in a waterfall. One person commented: 'Leave no trace means exactly that — leave no trace. 'You should be ashamed of the way you vandalised the natural environment.' However, Vallat has denied the claims that he left any of the areas in poor states after he visited them, as he said the reports were 'fake news'. He said: 'The article is fake news. We did not leave any trash behind us at the campsite. 'I don't even know how this got in a journal. 'I have been camping for three years, and I have never had a problem like this so don't believe in everything you see on the Internet.'

Scots share 'the most Scottish thing' they have ever seen in person

Here in Scotland, we have seen it all. People from Scotland have shared "the most Scottish thing" they have ever witnessed. From bagpipes and kilts to relentless seagulls, a huge range of responses were shared. Everybody who lives in or is from Scotland will know that it is a place unlike any other. From our humour to our language, Scots are truly unique. ‌ On Tuesday, June 10, Facebook page Scottish Patter asked their followers about their unique Scottish experiences. Posting on their social media account, they questioned: "What's the most 'Scottish thing' you've ever witnessed in person?" ‌ Since being shared, the post has received more than 180 responses. Many Scots shared their funny experiences. This is a reference to the Scottish New Year's tradition of first-footing. It is said that the first person to cross the threshold of a home after midnight on January 1 will determine that household's luck for the following year. According to tradition, dark-haired men are said to bring luck. Gifts such as coal and whisky are also believed to bring good fortune for the year ahead. Also related to Hogmanay, a user posted: "Moving into a new home in East Kilbride, did not know anyone but at Hogmanay 14 people arrived at our door to wish us a guid new-year." ‌ A third Facebook user shared: "Seagulls trying to open a box of Tunnock's teacakes in the car park of an Asda. Best thing I've ever seen." As any Scot who has ever enjoyed fish and chips by the beach will know, the country's seagulls can be ruthless in their pursuit of food. Meanwhile, Tunnock's is among Scotland's most iconic companies—known for their products such as Caramel Wafers and Teacakes. ‌ Similarly, another Scot shared: "Saw a man in a kilt, sipping Irn-Bru at 8am, arguing with a seagull outside Greggs like it owed him rent. Didn't even flinch when it stole his sausage roll. "That bird understood the assignment." ‌ Meanwhile, a fifth Facebook user commented: "Kid going a fish and chips shop at 8am for a butty on the way to school in Paisley I was shocked." Someone else shared: "My husband's uncle run out of lemonade for his Tennent's shandy so used Irn-Bru instead." Another Facebook user wrote: "Was in Edinburgh for a weekend in February. Saw a middle-aged woman walking through the street with her shopping at about 9-10am. ‌ "She got to a bench in the middle of street, set her bags down and cracked opened a can of Tennent's from her jacket pocket. Sat and drank it in about five mins, grabbed her shopping and set back off." Elsewhere, one stated: "A guy in Edinburgh, in a kilt, playing the bagpipes."
