Watch: From Minister to expulsion: The Tej Pratap Yadav story
This rare and scathing statement came just a day after a Facebook post—apparently from Tej Pratap's profile—went viral. The post featured a photo of him with a woman and claimed they had been in a relationship for 12 years. The post was soon deleted, and Tej Pratap claimed that his social media accounts had been hacked and that he and his family were being targeted.
However, this is not the first time Tej Pratap has made headlines for controversial reasons. His political journey has been marked by turbulence and eccentricity.
2015: Tej Pratap was made Health Minister in the Nitish Kumar government. He was known more for his spiritual quirks—such as consulting astrologers and installing cows in his bungalow—than for effective governance.
2018: His marriage to Aishwarya Rai, the granddaughter of former Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai, ended publicly. Aishwarya accused Tej Pratap of domestic abuse and drug addiction and claimed that he dressed as religious figures and called himself their avatar.
2019: Tej Pratap formed a rebel outfit called the Lalu-Rabri Morcha amid rising tensions within the RJD. While he insisted that it was not a breakaway group, it indicated growing friction with his brother Tejashwi.
2021: He met Mukesh Sahani, an ally of the NDA, which sparked speculation about a potential shift in allegiance. He dismissed the rumours, but party insiders remained unconvinced.
-2025 (March): A Holi celebration video showed him instructing a bodyguard—a police constable—to dance or face suspension. The clip went viral and triggered outrage over his abuse of power.
With Tejashwi Yadav now firmly positioned as the face of the RJD, Lalu seems to be sending a clear message to both voters and his party: the RJD will not be held hostage by internal instability.
However, Tej Pratap's departure, especially under such dramatic circumstances, reveals deep fissures within the Yadav family—something the BJP-led NDA is likely to exploit in the upcoming election season.
The timing of this expulsion is critical. Bihar is headed to the polls soon, and the RJD is attempting to consolidate its core voter base. Tejashwi is trying to present himself as a stable, progressive leader in contrast to his elder brother's erratic image.
The BJP is already framing this situation as indicative of a broken family, broken leadership, and a party that cannot even govern itself.
For Tej Pratap, this expulsion may not signal the end of his political journey, but for the RJD, it marks a crucial turning point as it sheds baggage in the hope of winning Bihar. Will this gamble pay off? Or will this rift come back to haunt the Yadavs?

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann questions need to send nominees abroad to publicize the success of Operation Sindoor
CHANDIGARH: A day after making "One Nation, One Husband' remark, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today questioned the union government claim on success in Operation Sindoor. He said that for the first time in the history that any government is sending its nominees across the globe to tell everyone that they have emerged victorious in a war. He added that labelling any idea opposite to BJP's propaganda as anti-national reflects the country's sorry state of affairs. After the cabinet meeting here at his official residence, Chief Minister Mann said that it is ironic that Union Minister of State, Ravneet Singh Bittu has contradicted his stand on Operation Sindoor by saying that he was echoing the voice of Pakistan. He said that it is unfortunate that Bittu has issued such irrational statements whereas his masters sitting in Delhi have been giving hypothetical and baseless statements. Mann said that the Union Minister of State has forgotten that his own party has backtracked from their decision to send Sindoor to every household. He said that this type of attitude is unwarranted and undesirable adding that it is not in the interest of the country.

Why PV Anvar looms over Congress, LDF in Nilambur bypoll
The forthcoming by-election to the Nilambur assembly constituency in Kerala's Malappuram is generating huge political interest with the entry into the fray of its two-term independent MLA P.V. who had a falling out with the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), after he targeted chief minister Pinrayi Vijayan, is now state convenor of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He resigned as MLA in January after facing the heat for alleging that additional DGP (director general of police) M.R. Ajithkumar was involved in gold smuggling. Ajithkumar is widely considered as an officer enjoying the trust of the Vijayan Anvar contesting the June 19 bypoll, both the LDF and the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) are gearing up for the used to be a Congress citadel, with Aryadan Muhammed holding the seat uninterrupted for almost 30 years since 1987. Anvar, backed by the LDF, wrested the constituency in 2016 by 11,500 votes and again in 2021. The Congress has fielded Aryadan Muhammed's son Aryadan Shoukath, who had lost the election in 2016. The LDF nominee is the CPI(M)'s M. Swaraj, a youth leader and native of Nilambur. The BJP has announced advocate Mohan George, a former Kerala Congress (Joseph) leader, as its candidate in continuation of the party's efforts to woo the Christian nomination paper as a TMC nominee was rejected by the returning officer as the party had apparently delayed authorisation. Anvar then is technically contesting as an Independent, which could mean political freedom to decide on his loyalties should he do the Congress-led UDF and LDF assess Anvar's impact on the bypoll? 'Anvar cannot change the destiny of the Congress in Nilambur. We will win by a massive mandate and also inflict a shock on the Pinarayi Vijayan government. The people of Kerala are waiting to give their verdict,' said leader of the Opposition V.D. state secretary M.V. Govindan Master considers Anvar politically irrelevant. 'Anvar is of concern for the Congress. We are least bothered about him. We are confident of winning the bypoll,' he told INDIA Anvar remains a force to reckon with in the electoral politics of Malappuram. The 58-year-old entrepreneur-turned-politician has a Congress family background. He started his electoral career with the 2011 assembly polls, in which he contested from the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) stronghold of Eranad as an Independent, losing narrowly by 11,246 votes but securing a 41.5 per cent vote contested the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 from Wayanad but failed—a vote share of just 4 per cent. In the 2016 assembly polls, the CPI(M) backed him from Nilambur and again in 2021. Under the LDF banner, he also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Ponnani as an Independent, losing by over 193,000 was favoured by the CPI(M) as he lent the party political mileage in Malappuram against the IUML. But relations strained after he was denied a ministerial post in the second innings of the Vijayan government. Whether or not he wins, Anvar can arguably determine the outcome of the election since he has a captive vote base of around 25,000 in Nilambur. Good reason for the LDF and the UDF to keep fingers crossed till counting to India Today Magazine
