JeM Terrorist Abdul Aziz Esar, Who Threatened India, Dies Mysteriously In Pakistan: Report
Notably, this is the second such incident in a fortnight. Earlier on May 17, Lashkar-e-Taiba's top terrorist Saifullah Khalid was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pakistan's Sindh.
Notably, JeM is rattled with India's Operation Sindoor in which the Indian Armed Forces targeted nine terror camps on May 7. "India successfully destroyed nine major terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), targeting Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen facilities. Over 100 terrorists were killed in action," said the Government of India.
During the Operation Sindoor, India redefined the rules of engagement, striking deep into Pakistan's heartland, including Punjab province and Bahawalpur, once considered out of bounds even for US drones. India made it clear: neither the LoC nor Pakistani territory will remain untouched if terror originates from there. Bahawalpur is the main base camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The Indian Armed Forces launched coordinated and accurate missile strikes on 9 terrorist bases - 4 located in Pakistan (including Bahawalpur and Muridke) and 5 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (such as Muzaffarabad and Kotli). These locations were key command centers of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), responsible for major attacks like Pulwama (2019) and Mumbai (2008).

After PM Modi, Amit Shah meets President Murmu amid Parliament logjam over Bihar voter list row
Union Home Minister Amit Shah called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Sunday. The meeting came hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on the President. The reasons behind the subsequent meetings of the prime minister and the home minister with the President were not known. "Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan," the Rashtrapati Bhavan wrote on 'X'. The back-to-back meetings come in the backdrop of the logjam in Parliament over the opposition demand for a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar ahead of the Assembly elections in the state. Since the Monsoon session began on July 21, Parliament has seen little business except discussions in both Houses on Operation Sindoor. The prime minister's meeting with the President also came days after US President Donald Trump announced 25 per cent tariffs on exports from India and an unspecified penalty because of New Delhi's purchases of Russian military equipment and oil. SIR brings the INDIA bloc together for first physical meeting since June 2024
United in their opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the INDIA bloc partners will meet together outside Parliament for the first time in 14 months on Thursday (August 7, 2025) , when they are set to gather at the Delhi residence of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Apart from Parliament floor strategy meetings, the last time the INDIA bloc leaders physically sat across the table from each other was on June 1, 2024, just three days before the Lok Sabha election results were declared, at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence. On July 19, 2024, the bloc had a virtual meeting on the results. Thursday's (August 7, 2025) dinner meeting will be followed the next day (August 8, 2025) by a joint protest march to Election Commission's headquarters in the Capital. The SIR has acted as glue to bring the bloc back together after a tumultuous year of speaking out in separate, and sometimes contradictory, voices. 'SIR affects all citizens' Speaking to The Hindu, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav emphasised the importance of protesting the SIR together. 'We can protect the temple of democracy [that is, Parliament] only if we can enter it,' he said. Terming the SIR a systematic method to blunt the Opposition's strength, he said it was essential that the exercise be opposed every step of the way. INDIA Bloc Plans Big Move Against SIR Voter Roll Drive The Rashtriya Janata Dal's Rajya Sabha MP and senior leader Manoj K. Jha said that the INDIA bloc was primarily constituted for elections, and while it is a strong idea, it would be wrong to assume that the bloc has to consult each other 24x7. 'Instead of Special Intensive Revision, this exercise by the EC should be called 'special intensive deletion'. This is an issue that affects every citizen of the country; thus, it is imperative for the INDIA bloc to stand by the country,' Mr. Jha said. He added that while he would not go to the extent of saying that the exercise is aimed only at excluding voters who may vote for the Opposition, the fact remains that every time Opposition leaders point out a problem, the BJP comes to the EC's defence. 'It is as if only the BJP understands the intent of this exercise,' Mr. Jha said. Seeking Parliamentary debate on SIR The top leadership of the majority of the INDIA bloc partners are expected to be present at the dinner at Mr. Gandhi's residence and the protest march the following day. The Aam Aadmi Party, which has declared that it is not part of the bloc anymore, is likely to skip both events, but they will continue to support the agitation against the SIR inside the Parliament. The Opposition is going to press again for a debate on the issue in Parliament at the meeting of the Business Advisory Committees of both Houses, which usually has to be held at the beginning of the week. 'The SIR 'vote chori (theft)' as a subject can easily be discussed in both Houses. BJP is scared. Next week, we will give the shaky Modi coalition a tutorial in Parliament and teach them how it can be discussed,' the Trinamool Congress's Rajya Sabha Parliamentary Party leader Derek O'Brien said. The government pulled out a precedent, from the tenure of the Lok Sabha's longest serving Speaker Balram Jakhar, who had ruled that the Election Commission, which is a Constitutional body, cannot be discussed in the Parliament. 'This is a facetious argument. We are not asking for a discussion on the Election Commission, we are demanding for a debate on an administrative decision taken by the poll panel, which right now is underway in Bihar, and will be carried out across the country,' the Congress whip in the Lok Sabha, Manickam Tagore, said.
