East Riding of Yorkshire Council to award community grants
The latest round of community funding grants has been opened by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, with residents able to apply for thousands of pounds to improve where they live.The authority said it would provide grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 to support locally-led initiatives, which included improvements to local high streets, community infrastructure and green spaces.Other categories included the preservation of heritage landmarks, new events, along with schemes aimed at boosting tourism.In total, £500,000 was available to be allocated, a spokesperson said.
'Build pride'
The scheme is supported by the government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), which has awarded £1.7m to 64 projects across the East Riding since 2022.Council leader Anne Handley said: "We're proud to support local communities across our region and this is a fantastic scheme to build pride and invest in our local areas. "I highly encourage interested groups to... see how they can get involved."Anyone interested in applying should first contact the council's local growth team to ensure their proposal meets the eligibility criteria.Submissions can then be made online until 25 June .

Topshop confirms it'll open STORES as website to launch later this year
IN a sea of closures and retail struggle, Topshop is bucking the trend and opening stores this year. The brand aims to relaunch Topshop and Topman for its loyal millennial fans and newcomers, both online and brick-and-mortar. 2 In 2021, Topshop and Miss Selfridge were purchased by Asos, following the collapse of former owner Arcadia. Wilson teased shoppers and said that they should expect Topshop's more casual side, as well as the formal "going out" pieces. Adolescence becomes Netflix's second biggest English-language TV series
Adolescence has become Netflix's second biggest ever English language TV series. The critically acclaimed UK drama series knocked off Stranger Things after it reached a total of 141.2m views since its launch in March. The fourth season of the sci-fi drama had totalled 140.7m. The No 1 slot is still taken by the first season of Wednesday, which had 252.1m views in its first 91 days. The second season is scheduled to premiere in August. The highest non-English language show is the first season of Squid Game, which had 265.2m views in its first three months. The show had already made history in the UK becoming the first programme on a streaming platform to top the weekly audience charts. The news comes after the show swept the Gotham TV awards in New York, winning breakthrough limited series and two acting awards for stars Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper.
