Hong Kong is buzzing with football fever as the city hosted the semi-final of the Saudi Super Cup on Tuesday night.
Fans soaked up the raucous atmosphere at Hong Kong Stadium, as the match between Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad featuring Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo kicked off just after 8pm.
A father, Yousuf, brought his son Jackson to the match to celebrate his birthday and support Ronaldo.
"I think it's fantastic, it's very well organised and the game was fun, and Ronaldo is playing well," he told RTHK.
Another fan, Wood, who also came to support Al-Nassr and Ronaldo, said it was a brilliant game.

"I think the the Super Cup in Hong Kong is a great experience and will promote, widely promote, the Saudi entertainment, the Saudi Cup around the world," he said.

Opening ceremony for National Games bowling event The bowling competition is the only mass participation event the SAR will be hosting in the National Games. Photo: RTHK Twenty-seven teams from across the country took part in the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games bowling competition on Thursday at the Kai Tak Sports Park Bowling Centre. The national anthem was played before Hong Kong bowler Rickle Kam led the athletes in taking the oath, while Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Vivian Sum declared the competition open. The three-day finals will begin on Friday, the only mass participation event of the Games to be staged in Hong Kong. Speaking after the ceremony, Kam said he was honoured to compete at the new Kai Tak venue. He added that the local squad had undergone training to adapt to the lanes and hopes to reach the podium. Hong Kong women's representative Chloe Lee said she was excited about the competition, describing herself as ready to perform at her best. The schedule includes men's and women's singles matches on the first day, doubles on the second, and five-player team events on the final day.

Bowlers set sights on National Games prizes in HK

Bowlers set sights on National Games prizes in HK Boco Wong said he hopes Hong Kong bowlers can make the podium at the National Games' mass participation event. Photo: RTHK The National Games' bowling competition will begin in Hong Kong on Friday - the only mass participation event the SAR will be hosting. The chairwoman of the Hong Kong, China Tenpin Bowling Congress, Vivien Lau, said she hopes the SAR can make the podium in front of home fans at the Kai Tak Sports Park Bowling Centre. All 10 Hong Kong players but one are former members of the SAR's squad, with Daniel Tse the exception, as he plays for the team at the top level as a part-time athlete. The rest, including Boco Wong, are taking part as amateurs in the three-day tournament. Wong was into bowling since primary school, and he joined the local tryouts for the Games in April to test himself at this major event. "We quit and then we came back again, so it's actually honourable to be back in the team again and to represent Hong Kong," Wong told RTHK. He said he's also aiming for a spot on the podium, as he'll play more of a supportive role next to teammates Rickle Kam, Leo Tse, Daniel Tse and Michael Mak. Wong noted that Kam and Mak are experienced players who took part in past Asian Games. "They gave me a lot of inspiration and also gave me some ideas on how to tackle the lanes because we have two different patterns," he said. His teammate Zoe Tam, on the women's side, said this will mark the first time in seven years that she'll represent Hong Kong. "I'm a bit nervous and scared, but I still feel the excitement that I can bowl in a competition again," she said. Tam called the return "amazing" and shared that the team brings their own personalised equipment, like bowling balls as each are catered to their fingers and also lane conditions. She said she hopes their participation will spark people's interest in the sport. "I really want to inspire people into to bowling, because I think now bowling is not a really public sport," Tam said. "I think it's a good time to show the public that we can bowl together."

Al-Ahli crush Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Super Cup

Al-Ahli crush Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Super Cup Al-Ahli dominate Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final with a 5-1 win. Photo: Reuters Crowds at the Hong Kong Stadium were treated to a goal-fest as Al-Ahli crushed Al-Qadsiah in a one-sided Saudi Super Cup semi-final. With Al-Hilal's withdrawal handing Al-Ahli their spot, the green-and-white side dominated possession from the opening whistle, but it was Al-Qadsiah who drew first blood. In the eighth minute, a clever short corner caught Al-Ahli napping as Al-Qadsiah's center-back Gastón Álvarez rose high and scored with a header. But their lead was erased five minutes later when a pinpoint long throw found Franck Kessié, who powered a header into the net, levelling it at 1-1. The game tilted in the 28th minute when VAR spotted a handball in Al-Qadsiah's box and awarded Al-Ahli a penalty, which was calmly converted by Ivan Toney to give his team the lead. A moment of brilliance from Riyad Mahrez followed, as the Algerian star danced past several defenders before delivering a delicate chip to assist Enzo Millot's first Al-Ahli goal to stretch the lead to 3-1. Things went from bad to worse for Al-Qadsiah in the 42nd minute, as Christopher Bonsu Baah's reckless stamp on Al-Ahli defender Roger Ibanez got him a straight red card after VAR review, leaving his side down to ten men. Mahrez whipped in another perfect corner kick in first-half stoppage time for Kessié to head his second goal. Nacho Fernández's own goal off a horribly wrong clearance in the 61st minute added insult to injury, wrapping up a dominant 5-1 victory for Al-Ahli. They will next face Al-Nassr in the final at 8pm on Saturday. Al-Nassr - led by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and João Félix - will be without Sadio Mané in the final after he received a straight red card in their 2-1 semi-final win over Al-Ittihad on Tuesday.
