India will be split into two halves due to...! Scientists flag BIG danger hidden under the Himalayas, say it can trigger...
The Himalayas are the majestic mountain ranges surrounding the Indian plains and valleys, but beneath these breathtaking mountains lies a a threat of such gargantuan proportions that it can literally split the entire country into two separate halves. India could be split into two
As per a team of scientists at the Stanford University, the tectonic plate on which India rests has started developing cracks, and this phenomenon can trigger devastating earthquakes, weather changes, and even alter the entire map of the Indian sub-continent in the near future.
Simon Klemperer, a geophysicist at the Stanford University, and his team, have identified a unique process taking place in the Indian tectonic plate. Under the process, which the geophysicists have dubbed 'delamination', the heavy, dense part of the Indian tectonic plate is now slowly breaking and sinking into the depths of the Earth, as if a part of India's land is quietly and steadily, sliding deep inside the planet. Indian tectonic plate breaking up
According to a new study by the American Geophysical Union, the Indian tectonic plate has been sliding northwards for the last 60 million years, and this collision gave birth to mountain ranges like Himalayas, but now this phenomenon poses a major threat to the Indian sub-continent.
The study reveals that heavier parts of the plate are no longer able to support themselves, and are breaking up and sliding deeper inside the earth. The process is slow, but the its effects can be seen in the coming future, it said. Northern India most vulnerable
As per the research, its believed that the Himalayas surrounding Northern India and its adjoining areas are the most vulnerable to this phenomenon, and the intensity and intensity and frequency of earthquakes in North India, Nepal, Tibet and Northeast India could surge by a significant margin, if the breaking up of the tectonic plates intensifies.
North India is already categorized as an active seismic zone.
The research warns that this breaking up of plates could drastically alter the shape of the landmass, and even change direction of rivers, and the position of mountains. Additionally, changes in the elevation and structure of the land could affect monsoon and climate cycles.
Scientists predict that populous cities in the region, such as national capital Delhi, Dehradun, Guwahati, and Shillong, are at the most risk due to their infrastructure and large populations.

Modi's visionary plan to open up space sector a true game changer : ISpA
Chennai, Aug 15 (UNI) The Indian Space Association (ISpA) today hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning the growth in India's space sector in his Independence Day address and said his visionary plan to open up India's space sector has been a true gamechanger. Backed by progressive reforms such as the Space Policy, liberal FDI push and strong government support, the industry has grown multi-fold in just five years, ISpA Director General Lt Gen AK Bhatt (retd) said. "The surge in space startups and their achievements reflects an unprecedented wave of innovation and ambition among our youth", he said. "With this momentum, we are confident of achieving the goal of USD 44 billion space economy by 2033 and cementing India's position among the world's leading spacefaring nations. Self-reliance in critical tech crucial for Viksit Bharat, says PM Modi
Clean energy to semiconductors, defence to medicines, space to deep sea, information technology to nuclear energy — Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the importance of self-reliance in critical technologies and scientific research and development in India achieving the objective of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Addressing the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, the PM highlighted the technology initiatives that are underway, like in clean energy and space, and emphasised the need to develop capabilities in areas like semiconductors and fighter jets. '…slavery made us impoverished, and it also rendered us dependent. Our reliance upon others kept increasing. The bedrock of a Viksit Bharat is also a self-reliant Bharat. The greater a nation's reliance on others, the more its freedom comes into question,' Modi said, while making his point about technological self-reliance. He said a made-in-India chip would be available in the market by the end of the year. Modi spoke about the progress being made in harnessing renewable energy sources like solar and wind, the efforts to mine and develop critical minerals, and stressed on the importance of nuclear energy. 'By 2047, when the nation will complete 100 years of Independence — the year we have set as target for achieving the goal of a 'Viksit Bharat' — we are moving forward with the resolve to increase our nuclear energy capacity more than tenfold,' he said. The Prime Minister also mentioned India's Deep Ocean Mission aimed at exploring resources under the sea. His remarks came just a day after it was revealed that two Indian divers, 'aquanauts', recently completed trips up to the depth of about 5,000 metres in the Atlantic Ocean. This is in preparation for the country's 'Samudrayaan Mission' in which three Indian divers are supposed to travel in an India-made vessel to about 6,000 metres below the ocean surface. Modi also spoke about astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla's recent journey to the International Space Station, and India's own Gaganyaan mission which is supposed to send humans into space by 2027. 'And I am very proud of the reforms done in space recently, more than 300 startups of my country are now working only in the space sector and thousands of youth are working with full potential in those 300 startups,' he said. He asked the youth to put in similar energy into other complex technological areas to strengthen the nation as well as generate jobs and revenues. 'My appeal is to the young scientists of my country, to my talented youth, to my engineers and professionals, and also to every government department. Should the jet engine for our Made in India fighter jets be ours or not? We are considered the pharma of the world … Isn't it the need of the hour that we put more energy into research and development, we should have our own patents… The Government of India has formulated the BioE3 policy. I request the youth of the country to come and study the BioE3 policy and take steps,' he said.

Delhi Confidential: Sky Not The Limit
At an event Thursday, celebrating the deepest underwater human dive by two Indian aquanauts, Union Minister Jitendra Singh couldn't resist drawing a parallel with the country's space mission. India's two big dreams — sending humans to space and to the bottom of the ocean — he said, seemed to be moving in sync, 'almost like a cosmic–oceanic jugalbandi'. First, an Indian astronaut, Shubhanshu Shukla, travelled to space on a foreign spacecraft. Not long after, Indian aquanauts Commander (Retd) Jatinder Pal Singh and R Ramesh plunged into the depths of the Atlantic on a foreign submersible. Both missions are opening doors to more international tie-ups. And both are poised to play a big role in the country's Viksit Bharat story. The best part: in 2027, if all goes to plan, homegrown tech will carry an Indian into space and another to the ocean's floor. This back and forth, Singh said, wasn't exactly choreographed, but he wouldn't be surprised if it kept playing out in the years to come. As the last date for nomination of candidates for the vice presidential election nears, the BJP parliamentary board is likely to meet on August 17 (Sunday) to finalise the name of the ruling alliance's candidate. The NDA parties have already authorised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president J P Nadda to select the nominee. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah called on Nadda late Friday evening, triggering speculation about the possible names, but some BJP insiders said the announcement of the chosen candidate would most likely be made close to the final date of nominations on August 21 (Thursday).
