Ohio State women's basketball announces games vs UConn, TCU for 2025-26 season
Ohio State women's basketball has started building its 2025-26 nonconference schedule, which will include a game against national power Connecticut. The Buckeyes and Huskies are set to take part in a home-and-home series, with Ohio State heading to Storrs, Connecticut, this upcoming season and UConn coming to Columbus in 2026-27. These will be the first regular-season matchups between the Buckeyes and Huskies since 2019. Ohio State upset UConn in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes also announced they'll be one of four teams competing in the Coretta Scott King Classic in Newark, New Jersey, on Jan. 19. Ohio State opens the event against TCU. UConn and TCU are expected to be top-25 teams. Both reached the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight last year. In 2024-25, the Buckeyes' highest-ranked nonconference opponent was Stanford, which wasn't in the top 25 at the time and failed to reach the NCAA Tournament at the end of the year. Over Thanksgiving weekend, Ohio State will be at the Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas, for the second time in three years. Seven other teams are also participating in the event. The Buckeyes' opponent has yet to be determined. What does Ohio State's 2025-26 Big Ten schedule look like? Ahead of the 2024-25 season, the Big Ten changed the format of regular-season conference play, with each team facing the majority of the other teams in the conference only once and one designated conference opponent twice. For Ohio State, that opponent is Maryland. Here are the Buckeyes' other conference opponents in the 2025-26 season: Home: Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers, Wisconsin, UCLA, USC Away: Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, Washington, Oregon bmackay@ @brimackay15 This article originally appeared on The Columbus Dispatch: Ohio State women's basketball announces UConn home-and-home series

Saints Play of the Day: Aaron Brooks' 17-yard game-winner against Panthers
The New Orleans Saints 2025 season is rapidly approaching. To celebrate just 17 days left, we are turning back the clock over 20 years for an Aaron Brooks game-winning touchdown against the Carolina Panthers for today's Saints Play of the Day. Back in Week 12 of the 2001 season, New Orleans was fighting to stay above .500 and get back into the playoffs for a second straight year. Though the Panthers got out to an early 7-0 lead, most of the game was really a cat-and-mouse match. The Saints got the lead and kept pushing their lead until Carolina would answer right back. The Panthers ended up taking their second lead of the game with just under three minutes left in the game. Brooks and the New Orleans offense would have to get down the field and score. That's exactly what they did, and it didn't take long. The first play of the drive was a 42-yard connection with Ricky Williams. Then it was 14 yards to Eddie Williams and just like that the Saints were in striking distance. Our play of the day came on second and nine, when Brooks found Joe Horn in the corner of the endzone for a 17-yard touchdown. You can watch the action unfold for yourself here. New Orleans would go on to win from that touchdown by a score of 27-23. They improved to 6-5 on the season, but would ultimately finish 7-9 and miss the playoffs. The first year of the Brooks era wasn't pretty, but it had flashes like in this game. That pretty much sums up the career of Aaron Brooks, though.

And even though we won't be seeing either team's starting units hit the field at Bank of America Stadium, there will be more than enough to tune in for. Could the newly-signed (and reigning United Football League Most Valuable Player) Bryce Perkins pass his way onto the Panthers' roster? Can a few unlikely summer standouts, including wide receiver Brycen Tremayne and cornerback Corey Thornton, finish their runs into Carolina's plans? Will the kicking competition crown a winner between veteran journeyman Matthew Wright and undrafted rookie Ryan Fitzgerald? Well, we might get a good hint on all of those questions tonight.
