🎥 Paolo Di Canio talks about his favourite memory of West Ham fans 😍
Paolo Di Canio made a name for himself in the 1990s and early 2000s as one of the most flamboyant and controversial footballers around, but it was at West Ham where he found a home. The Italian Maverick joined the Irons in January 1999, with Harry Redknapp taking a punt on a player who had become persona non grata after pushing referee Paul Alcock while with Sheffield Wednesday. Advertisement The gamble paid off, with Di Canio becoming the darling of the East End, scoring 51 goals in 141 appearances, and perhaps none more important than his FA Cup winner against Manchester United in 2001. His goal at Old Trafford also led to his favourite moment and memory with his adoring fans. Di Canio left West Ham in 2003 after relegation, but judging by this upcoming series, the bond between club, player and fans is as strong as ever. 📸 Phil Cole

The new Rangers recruit flying under the Russell Martin radar but will feel the same pressure soon enough
There's one man who has slipped under the radar in the midst of the furore surrounding Russell Martin's arrival at Ibrox – that's Dan Purdy. But he'll come into full focus soon enough. Rangers' new technical director, replacing the unwanted Nils Koppen, came to mind when I remembered a quote from Arsene Wenger. Advertisement READ MORE: 6 surging Rangers transfer headlines that go beyond Coady and Turgeman as £20m vision faces strict timeline READ MORE: First Rangers departure of summer 'close' days after Russell Martin confirmed his internal Ibrox assessment The Frenchman, who knew a thing or two about being successful when he won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup finals with Arsenal, was once asked what made a good manager. His answer was only two words long, but spoke volumes. 'Good players,' he said. Purdy, formerly of Everton, is now under every bit as much pressure as Martin in that case. Because Rangers' squad is in a state of flux and Martin's immediate future is partly dependent on Purdy's success rate in his operational sphere at Ibrox. Advertisement Some players have gone and it remains to be seen if the like of Vaclav Cerny return after the conclusion of loan agreements. High-profile players like Nicolas Raskin could conceivably be allowed to go by the club's new owners to signal the start of a proper player trading model. Whatever happens, we are about to see the cut of Purdy's jib under difficult circumstances. Martin says he wants players who are brave enough to do his bidding. The same phrase applies to the talent spotter. Rangers will never suffer Crystal Palace UEFA sweat as SFA chief makes dual ownership rules clear
Mike Mulraney insists the SFA would never allow dual ownership where it could cost clubs a place in Europe. Co-Leeds United investor, the 49ers group, has just bought a minority share in Rangers, similar to Brighton owner Tony Bloom at Hearts and Bournemouth's holding company Black Knight who have put money into Hibs. Advertisement SFA chiefs have given these deals the green light but only because they are minority investments in the Scottish clubs. READ MORE: Kevin Thelwell gets ruthless with Rangers stars as sporting director sees no limit to Ibrox exits READ MORE: Scoring on my Rangers debut felt like a dream but it's a current Celtic hero who has really helped kickstart my career English FA Cup winners Crystal Palace are sweating on their European inclusion for next season because they also have control of French side Lyon. Mulraney said: 'We make sure if ever there is a contention about a dual-ownership model whereby the Scottish club would be seen as subordinate, that cannot be. You can't get investment rights unless you agree the Scottish club is never subordinate. Scottish FA president Mike Mulraney 'In the event UEFA said, 'these two clubs can't play in the same competition, we've changed the rules', nobody really thought about it. The SFA ensures that the Scottish club is never subordinate.'
