
Tesla driver dies in fiery crash in Monterey County
The California Highway Patrol said in a press release that the white Tesla was heading south on River Road north of Chualar River Road south of Salinas at about 1:41 a.m. when it veered left and off the roadway for an unknown reason. The car crashed into a tree and caught fire; the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
It was not known if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, or if the vehicle was in full self-driving mode, the CHP said.
The Monterey County Coroner's Office was withholding the driver's identity until the person's family was notified.
Anyone with additional information about the incident was asked to call the CHP Monterey Area office at (831) 770-8000.

Occupant of car taken to hospital after three vehicle crash in North Yorkshire town
A THREE-vehicle crash in Thirsk has seen one of the occupants sent to hospital for precautionary reasons. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it happened around 4pm today (August 2) in Thirsk. A service spokesperson said: "Crews from Easingwold provided scene safety for police after they attended a three-vehicle crash. "All occupants were out of the vehicle prior to fire crew arrival but one was taken to hospital via road for precautionary reasons. "Crews soaked up leaking fuel on the road. "The incident was left with the police."

Fiery Sacramento crash results in 3 dead; driver suspected of DUI hospitalized
Sacramento Police said three people died in an early Saturday morning crash that involved a suspected drunken driver. Just before 1 a.m., officers responded to a crash involving a truck and another vehicle near Roseville Road and Connie Drive. When police arrived, they found a vehicle on fire with two people inside. Officers were unable to put out the fire, and the two occupants died at the scene. A third person was found in the roadway and is believed to have been ejected from one of the vehicles, police said. The third person was declared dead at the scene. Police have not said what vehicle the person on the roadway may have been in at the time of the crash. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with major injuries but is in stable condition. According to police, the driver of the truck may have been driving under the influence. Sacramento Police have not yet identified the people who died in the crash or the driver of the truck. Police have also not yet released information about how the crash happened.
