Imam Khamenei on New Persian Year: Nation Lost Valuable Figures, I Urge Investments for Production

Al Manar20-03-2025

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said there were hardships and difficulties during the last year, calling on the Iranian government and nation to focus on efforts to improve the economy, especially through increased investment aimed at boosting production.
In a message delivered on the occasion of Nowruz – beginning of the Persian New Year- on March 20, 2025, Imam Khamenei went through the important developments in the past Iranian year of 1403.
The Leader noted that the Iranian nation and the Islamic Ummah lost several valuable figures last year, including President Ebrahim Raisi, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash, as well as several Iranian advisers in Damascus, alongside 'subsequent sorrowful incidents in Tehran and Lebanon.'
Imam Khamenei was referring to the Israeli assassination of senior Hamas and Hezbollah leaders in Tehran and Beirut, including former Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah.

His eminence emphasized that the nation's high morale and solidarity were evident in their response to the loss of the president, as demonstrated by the massive turnout during his funeral, and proving once again that such tragedies could not weaken the nation.
Acknowledging the economic challenges faced by the Iranian people, particularly in the latter half of the year, the Leader praised the nation's remarkable strength of will, spiritual resilience, and unity.
Designating the calendar year 1404 as the 'Year of Investment for Production,' Imam Khamenei said the government bears the responsibility of removing barriers to economic progress, while citizens are expected to actively contribute by stepping up their investments to drive economic growth.
Furthermore, the Leader commended the Iranian nation's generosity and solidarity in supporting the people of Lebanon and Palestine amid Israeli aggression. He said the overwhelming flow of public aid sent to support their brothers and sisters in need revealed the nation's commitment to Islamic unity and humanitarian.
Renewed Israeli Aggression on Gaza Crime
Meanwhile, Imam Khamanei described that the renewed attacks by the usurping Zionist regime on Gaza as truly large, atrocious crime.
'The Islamic Ummah must stand united against this. They should set aside their differences on various issues. This matter concerns the entire Islamic Ummah.'

His eminence also urged all freedom-seekers around the world – within the United States itself, in Western and European countries, and in other countries – to strongly oppose this treacherous, horrendous act.
'Once again children are being killed, homes are being destroyed, and civilians are being displaced. The people must stop this tragedy.'
In this context, he lashed out at the US which he stressed that 'is complicit in this tragedy.'
'Experts in political issues worldwide concur that this action is being executed under the direction of the United States, or at the very least, with the approval and a green light from the US. Therefore, the US is also complicit in this crime. The same is true about the events in Yemen. The attacks on the people of Yemen and on Yemeni civilians is also a crime that must definitely be stopped.'

Lebanon FM stresses to Iranian counterpart the need to disarm Hezbollah

Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji informed his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on Tuesday that Hezbollah put his country in a 'difficult situation' when it embarked on more than a year of fighting with Israel in 2023, and stressed the importance of disarming the Tehran-backed terror group. Araghchi met with Raji — a member of the Lebanese Forces party — in Beirut, on his first visit to Lebanon since October last year, when Hezbollah was in the midst of an all-out war with Israel in southern Lebanon. A month later, Beirut and Jerusalem would sign a ceasefire agreement that brought an end to the fighting During the meeting, Raji told Araghchi that recent 'military adventures' — an apparent reference to Hezbollah — had put the country in a 'difficult situation,' the Saudi Al Arabiya news outlet reported. These adventures, Raji told his Iranian counterpart, 'had not contributed to ending the Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory.' When Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon following the deployment of the Lebanese Armed Forces per the terms of the November 2024 ceasefire, it left troops stationed in five strategic hills located several hundred meters inside Lebanon, which it says are necessary to defend Israeli border communities. Six months on from the start of the ceasefire, the Lebanese state has been working methodically to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure in the south of the country, and is estimated to have seized the majority of the group's weapons stockpile south of the Litani River area. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal last week, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said that his government had achieved 80 percent of its objectives regarding the disarmament of militias in the country's south. 'All over the Lebanese territory, the state should have a monopoly on arms,' Salam told the US outlet, stressing 'the need to extend and consolidate the authority of the state.' Echoing his prime minister on Tuesday, Raji appeared to take a firm stance against allowing Iran's agenda to influence Lebanon's future, telling Araghchi that the country's ability to recover from the recent fighting was tied to Hezbollah's disarmament, Al Arabiya reported. Unprovoked, Hezbollah began attacking military outposts and communities in northern Israel on October 8, 2023, in a show of support for fellow Iranian proxy Hamas in Gaza after its assault on southern Israel a day earlier. The fighting continued for more than a year, including some two months of open war in southern Lebanon, and ended with the ceasefire signed in late November. The fighting displaced over 1 million people inside Lebanon, and caused destruction that the World Bank has said will cost $11 billion in reconstruction. Raji informed Araghchi that 'coordination between Lebanon and Iran should occur through official state channels,' rather than via proxies like Hezbollah, which enjoys Tehran's support, monetary and otherwise, having received billions of dollars and all types of weapons over the years.
