Chandigarh: Haryana energy, transport and labour minister Anil Vij on Saturday called on Union minister of power and housing and urban affairs Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi. During the meeting, Vij requested the initiation and operation of a Metro rail line between Ambala and Chandigarh.
He pointed out that Chandigarh is a UT and serves as a capital of both Punjab and Haryana, making it a major transit hub. The two leaders discussed the matter in detail. The Union minister assured Vij of prompt action on the matter.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Vij said the Ambala–Chandigarh road is now experiencing heavy traffic. Given that Chandigarh is not only a UT but also a shared capital, hundreds of people commute daily between the two cities.
Therefore, there is a pressing need for a Metro service in this region, he said.
Vij added the road between Ambala and Chandigarh remained crowded throughout the day and passengers faced considerable inconvenience. He emphasised the need for alternative transport options beyond road travel.
, stating that as a representative of hundreds of thousands of people, it is his responsibility to bring their needs to the attention of the appropriate authorities, and that his voice is never ignored.

Bhopal: Union minister Bhupender Yadav has advised BJP MPs and MLAs to speak less to avoid controversies. During the second day of the BJP MPs and MLAs training camp in Pachmarhi, the Union minister for environment and forests emphasised that it is not necessary to react to every event. He also advised the party leaders to stay connected with the party workers at grassroots level. Yadav advised the 201 trainees at the camp to speak less, hinting at the controversy following minister for tribal affairs Vijay Shah's May 11 remark on Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, which dented the party's image after Operation Sindoor. Bhupender Yadav stated that sometimes it is better politics to remain calm and avoid giving statements. "It is better to remain silent. Giving a reaction to every incident can prove damaging.
