Bahrain Grand Prix tickets selling fast as excitement builds
With just 15 days remaining until the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2025, Bahrain International Circuit has announced a surge in ticket sales, indicating a large turnout for the region's premier sporting and entertainment event. The 'Beyon' grandstand tickets have sold out, following the earlier sell-out of main grandstand tickets, corporate hospitality suites, and Paddock Club passes.
The circuit urges fans to purchase their tickets soon, as limited availability remains for the Turn One, University, and Victory grandstands. Hospitality packages for the Champions Club and The Dome Lounge are also selling quickly. The 21st edition of the Bahrain Grand Prix promises a packed schedule of races, entertainment, and musical performances.
In addition to the racing action, the Bahrain Grand Prix will feature a diverse range of family-friendly entertainment, including circus acts, roaming performers, stage shows, and carnival games. A highlight of this year's entertainment will be the giant Ferris wheel, a popular attraction among Grand Prix attendees. Children will also be entertained by Sonic-themed shows and other activities.

Formula 1 and Allwyn to launch community award programme
Formula 1, together with leading multi-national lottery-led entertainment company and Official Partner Allwyn, will celebrate and spotlight community-focused initiatives around the world with the new F1® Allwyn Global Community Award. The brand-new programme, created as part of the two organisations' multi-year partnership and as part of their shared commitment to driving positive change, will celebrate local initiatives that leave a positive impact on society. Art for paws
Bahrain-based artists and zoophilists with a soft-spot for strays are creating vibrant murals, eye-catching paper art, Dilmun-themed graphics and more, all to offer the kingdom's furry friends a better life. British creative Kylee-Jai Wright, who arrived in Bahrain with her family and chihuahuas, 16 years ago, has brought alive a colourful mural, beautifying one of the boundary walls of the Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre's (BARC) shelter in Hamala last month. 'My friend, who fosters many dogs for BARC and had painted a mural for them, suggested my name. I designed the mural on my iPad and sent it over and they really loved it,' the 42-year-old told GulfWeekly. Sadly, the abstract artist's 10-year-old son Elliot Walsh died tragically in his sleep last year. The stated cause was Sudden Unexplained Death in Children – a medical term for a death that remains unexplained even after a thorough investigation, including an autopsy. A grieving Kylee-Jai could not get herself to go anywhere or do anything but as time passed, she began expressing herself through art and poetry. 'It was peaceful for me to go and paint there and I enjoyed the process,' said the animal lover, who has rescued two cats that were rejected by their mums. Indian expatriate and marketing professional Joylyn Fernandes' childhood passion for paper art grew into something bigger last year, when she decided to donate some of her work for an exhibition raising funds for Palestine. 'Since then, I have continued to raise funds for causes I am passionate about. 'I hand-cut my 'paper illustrations' after I create a rough digital rendition,' the 40-year-old self-taught arist from Janabiya, who has called Bahrain home for the last decade, explained. Joylyn co-founded registered local feline rescue charity Rescat in 2019. Since then, the volunteers have rescued and rehomed around 500 cats, with another 500 having undergone TNR; 'trap- neuter-return' is a method of controlling stray cat population. 'I have just started making art for this cause, but I plan to continue and invite more commissions. I am working on more pieces to sell and raise funds for TNR.' Bahraini branding and design creative Jenine Sharabi was sensitised to animals from a very young age. 'My mother, raised on a farm in the US, taught us to cherish animals, and my father's kindness reinforced that. When my family moved to Bahrain in 1989, my parents adopted Dusty, a remarkable black-and-white Bahraini Dilmun cat. Today, I share my home with four of them, alongside my toddler, who already adores them,' the 39-year-old from Budaiya said. The graduate from Central Saint Martins art and design college in London organises paint-and-sip events, proceeds of which are donated to Rescat. Her latest creation for the charity is a tote bag featuring a Dilmun cat. 'The Dilmun cat is a local treasure. All proceeds of these bags go toward Rescat's rescuing, rehoming, and TNR efforts,' the artist, who also created Rescat's brand identity, added.

Russell roars to pole in Canada
Mercedes' George Russell grabbed a dazzling pole position and then enjoyed cracking a joke at rival Max Verstappen's expense on Saturday after clocking a sensational lap in qualifying for Canadian Grand Prix. The 27-year-old Briton was delighted with what he described as 'one of the most exhilarating laps of my life' and said, when asked about the prospect of starting alongside Red Bull's four-time champion, that he had 'a few more penalty points to play with'. His light-hearted jibe referred to his verbal rivalry with Verstappen since last season and their recent clash at the Spanish Grand Prix -- where the Dutchman rammed into Russell's car in the closing stages. Verstappen was handed a timed penalty that dropped him to 10th and also given three points on his drivers' super-licence, taking him to a total of 11 and within one point of a ban if he commits any further misdemeanors. Fans in the capacity crowd at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve roared their approval as Russell warmed to his theme after clocking the only sub 1.11 lap of the weekend to date. 'We're mates, so it's all good,' insisted Russell, despite his tense and often strained relationship with Verstappen who, in Barcelona, said 'give him some tissues' after their clash. 'But I've got a few more points on my license to play with so, yeah, let's see,' Russell said. It may have been good-natured fun, but it was also a reminder to Verstappen that he cannot risk repeating his 'red mist' aggression and a possible race ban. Russell captured his first pole this year at the end of a thrilling session. Russell clocked a best lap in one minute and 10.899 seconds to outpace Verstappen by 0.160 seconds. 'On my steering wheel, you've got the delta and I just saw every corner that I was just going onetenth quicker and I got into the last corner and I was sixtenths off so I knew the lap was mighty,' Russell said. 'Crossing the line and seeing we were P1 was a real surprise, but I was so chuffed with it. It was probably one of the most exhilarating laps of my life, an awesome experience in front of this amazing crowd.' Verstappen, who is third in this year's drivers' title race behind the McLaren pair Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, shook hands with Russell to congratulate him, but will harbour hopes of claiming an unprecedented fourth consecutive Canadian win. Last year, Russell led from pole for 20 laps before pitting to hand the lead to Norris for five laps until he also pitted. Verstappen then took control to win ahead of Norris with Rus - sell coming home third. 'I'm very happy with what we have achieved to be on the front row, ' said Verstappen, having claimed Red Bull's 200th front row start. 'Tomorrow, we can have a solid race. We did the right thing with the tyres.' 'Childish, annoying' Asked about starting alongside Russell, the champion refused to comment, showing real irritation about the speculation on penalty points and bans. ' I'm not talking about it anymore,' he said, having already confirmed he would not change his aggressive style. 'It's a waste of time to discuss this. It's so childish and it is really annoying.' Russell's sixth career pole confirmed Mercedes' potential for success at the high-speed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The late-session drama lifted the oft-warring pair clear of championship leader Piastri and Kimi Antonelli in the second Mercedes. Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton was fifth for Ferrari ahead of two-time champion Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin, Norris in the second McLaren and Charles Leclerc in the second Ferrari.
