Broncos invite former Saints QB Ian Book for rookie minicamp tryout
The book isn't shut on this former New Orleans Saints quarterback. 9News Denver's Mike Klis reports that Ian Book, a fourth-round pick by the Saints back in 2021 out of Notre Dame, is replacing former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder as a veteran free agent tryout at this weekend's rookie minicamp.
Book, 27, flamed out quickly in New Orleans after injuries and COVID-19 absences forced him into the lineup as a rookie. He completed 12 of 20 passes for 135 yards and threw two interceptions in a prime-time loss to the Miami Dolphins, and was waived after training camp the next summer. But he wrote a new chapter with the Philadelphia Eagles and went on to spend time with the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, ultimately returning to Philly just in time to back up Jalen Hurts and win a championship ring in the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX win over the Chiefs.
Now he's auditioning for Sean Payton and the Broncos. Payton made the call to draft Book in the first place, so now Book may have a real shot. He'll compete with fellow tryout QB Blake Stenstrom for a shot at a roster spot behind Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham, and Sam Ehlinger. Good luck to him as he turns to the next page of his story.

He's had an excellent offseason, he's had an excellent career so far and he's going to have an excellent future." Throughout his 39-game NFL career thus far, the 24-year-old wide receiver has racked up 191 receptions for 2,565 yards and 10 touchdowns. He played in just eight games last season. Back in the 2023 campaign with the Saints, Olave caught 87 passes for 1,123 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games. He showed off the true No. 1 potential that made New Orleans take him No. 11 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. Anything could change and the Saints could open up to trading Olave. For right now, Moore and company seem to view him as an important piece of the future. Regardless of who wins the starting job, that quarterback will need major support and a go-to target. Olave can be that guy if he's able to stay healthy. Only time will tell whether or not Olave can remain on the field and overcome his injury history. Examining the most significant question for Eagles' first-year OC Kevin Patullo Keeping Philadelphia's dynamic offense explosive and efficient is the biggest question for Eagles' first-year offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. The Eagles wrapped up OTAs on Thursday and will hold one mandatory mini-camp on Tuesday afternoon before a summer break leading into the mid-July start of training camp. There's a lot of pressure to maintain a Super Bowl-caliber offense, and that falls on first-year coordinator Kevin Patullo. Nick Sirianni's longtime confidant was promoted to offensive coordinator after Kellen Moore accepted the head coaching position in New Orleans. The Athletic recently examined the biggest question for every new player caller in the NFL, and Patullo is tasked with ensuring "offensive continuity" for the league's top unit. Boasting one of the most well-rounded and potent offenses and a Lombardi Trophy came at a price: The Eagles lost offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to a head coaching job after only one season. That means quarterback Jalen Hurts in 2025 will play for his sixth play caller in six seasons. By now, the quarterback has grown accustomed to change. But he has good familiarity with this latest OC, as coach Nick Sirianni promoted Patullo (previously his pass game coordinator) to play caller. Patullo has worked with Hurts for four seasons, so he understands his likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses. Patullo also fully grasps the capabilities of running back Saquon Barkley and wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. But he's not Moore, so various aspects about the Eagles' approach to attacking defenses could change. "Being able to coach both positions, you can really marry the two. Coaching receivers in Indy, I was able to use my quarterback knowledge from coaching that position and playing it and get the guys to understand why they needed to be somewhere and why we needed to have them there at that time. ... I think you can teach the guys a perspective that they're not used to hearing." Patullo on his relationship with Nick Sirianni No longer the Eagles' passing game coordinator, Patullo was asked how the promotion would impact his relationship with head coach Nick Sirianni. Patullo says he and Nick Sirianni challenge each other and test each other. He says Nick pushes the coaches to get better. Patullo came to Philadelphia with Sirianni and said he has been here since day one with Nick, and he has had a big-picture view and been in all the different meeting rooms in the past. Patullo on how the Eagles offense will be different Jalen Hurts has had four offensive coordinators during his stint as the Eagles' starting quarterback, and each play-caller looks to put his special stamp on the offense. Broncos make brief appearance in 'Madden NFL 26' trailer
EA Sports has released the first trailer for "Madden NFL 26," and there's no love for Bo Nix or any members of the Denver Broncos' offense. The only time the Broncos are shown in the trailer comes at the 0:35 mark when Las Vegas Raiders rookie running back Ashton Jeanty is tackled by a Denver defender. It appears to be safety P.J. Locke, who wears No. 6, making the tackle. Early in the trailer, Dalton Risner is shown in the tunnel with teammates before a Minnesota Vikings game. Risner is actually still a free agent, and this isn't an announcement of a signing from EA Sports, but an oversight. The 29-year-old guard played for the Broncos from 2019-2022 and spent the last two years in Minnesota before hitting free agency this spring. Later in the trailer, former Denver quarterback Russell Wilson is shown being sacked by Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons.
