‘CM Dashboard' launched by Siddaramaiah for development monitoring in Karnataka
The Chief Minister's Dashboard (CM Dashboard), a platform that provides real-time, integrated insights into key development indicators across Karnataka, was launched on Friday.
It was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the review meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of all districts and CEOs of all zilla panchayats at the State Secretariat here.
The dashboard, developed in-house by the Centre for e-Governance (CeG), is now functionally complete and hosted under the domain cmdashboard.karnataka.gov.in. 'This platform provides real-time, integrated insights into key development indicators across Karnataka, enabling data-driven governance and decision-making at the highest level,' an official release said.
Integrated system
The dashboard is built using a microservices-based architecture, ensuring scalability and ease of integration. The data is integrated via APIs (application programming interface) from various departments, eliminating manual entry, said the release.
The dashboard categorises State performance data into four primary sectors: economic growth (e.g., investments and beneficiaries), legal/judiciary management (RTI and Sakala case disposals), infrastructure development (roads, irrigation, and renewable energy), and citizen-centric governance (guarantee schemes and Janaspandana).
The Chief Minister, during the launch, told respective officials to remain in the taluk and district headquarters to address the grievances of the public. The district in-charge Secretaries were instructed to visit their respective districts twice a month for review of development works. He also told them to pay surprise visits to schools, hostels, and hospitals and submit reports to the Chief Secretary.
Referring to Indira Canteens, the Chief Minister instructed the Deputy Commissioners to commence delivery of food at all canteens which have buildings within a week. Out of 186 new Indira Canteens, construction of 103 had been completed. Food is being delivered at only 43 canteens.
On farmer suicides
The Chief Minister reviewed the district-wise data of farmer suicides and took to task officials for the delay in the release of compensation in 13 cases.
Dissatisfied with the delay in the recovery of encroached tank-bed areas, the Chief Minister told officials to undertake the survey work immediately and recover the encroached tank-bed areas. Out of 10,931 encroached tanks, officials have recovered 6,065 tank- bed areas.

In a sharp political swipe, Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna on Sunday criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah saying he has become like 'a train that missed the village station.' 'The old Siddaramaiah is lost. He may take 10 steps forward, but then retreats 50 steps backward under pressure,' he said, while responding to media questions in Kalaburagi about the Hemavati Link Canal Project in Tumakuru. Accusing the State government of stagnation and political favouritism, the Central Minister condemned the Congress government for implicating farmers who are opposing the project. 'The State government is acting like stagnant water, trying to appease some while punishing others unjustly. Why are poor farmers being targeted with criminal cases? What wrong have they done? The State government should stop harassing people. Officials who once declared the project unfeasible are now saying it's possible, just to protect their positions,' he said urging the State government to work with Central irrigation experts to resolve issues on technical merit. Speaking on railway projects in Karnataka, Mr. Somanna said that works worth ₹7,654 crores have been announced in budget for 2025-26. 'During the UPA government, Karnataka got an insignificant amount for railway projects. Now, the amount has crossed ₹7,000 crore. Vande Bharat Express trains are already running across 13 districts in the State. There have been requests to run Vande Bharat trains between Mangaluru and Bengaluru and Belagavi and Bengaluru. These services will be launched shortly,' he said. Acknowledging concerns that rail services are becoming increasingly skewed toward upper class passengers due to the focus on air-conditioned coaches, Mr. Somanna said that Indian Railways will soon introduce 10,000 new general class coaches to better serve the needs of common passengers and address overcrowding in trains across the country. Mr. Somanna also noted that the Indian Railways is making significant savings of approximately ₹18,000 crore annually through electrification and promised that all new railway lines will be launched as electrified routes to ensure sustainability and cost-efficiency. 'As much as 44,000 km of railway lines have been doubled over the last 10 years. Electrification of several routes has led to significant savings, estimated at ₹17,000 crore to ₹18,000 crore, while also helping reduce air pollution. Out of the 300 Amrit Bharat railway stations being upgraded nationwide, 61 are located in Karnataka and are currently under development,' he said. Responding to comparisons with the UPA government, Mr. Somanna pointed out that during the 2009-10 fiscal year, ₹11,500 crore had been spent on doubling projects. In contrast, the present government has allocated ₹70,000 crore for such work in the 2025-26 fiscal year alone, he said arguing that this demonstrates a much stronger commitment to railway development than previous administrations.

Newly formed taluks will get Praja Soudhas as government-sanctioned administrative approvals
With Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah handing over the administrative approval letter to the Deputy Commissioner, Yadgir, the long-pending demand of the people of newly formed taluks to have a taluk administrative building is likely to be fulfilled in a year. Mr. Siddaramaiah handed over the letter to B. Susheela, Deputy Commissioner, after new taluks got administrative approval during the recent meeting held at Bengaluru. Yadgir district had three taluks — Yadgir, Shahapur and Shorapur (Surpur) then. But these taluks were divided when Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter announced it in 2013, as Gurmitkal divided from Yadgir, Wadagera from Shahapur and Hunsagi from Shorapur, respectively. Despite the announcement, new taluks weren't provided the taluk administrative buildings even after many years. Therefore, it was forced to function with the locally available government buildings. But, lack of sufficient space for administration, the officers and general public as well faced difficulties, more particularly in summer. Considering the necessity, the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government had promised to construct new taluk administrative buildings and named them 'Praja Soudha' and approved the proposal during the cabinet meeting held at Kalaburagi in September last year. After necessary formalities, taluks have finally got the administrative approval for the construction of Praja Soudhas in each taluk at a cost of ₹ 8.60 crore in two phases. Both Wadagera and Hunsagi taluks were represented by Congress MLAs Channareddy Patil Tunnur and Raja Venugopal Naik, while Gurmitkal was represented by JD(S) MLA Sharanagouda Kandkur. It is learnt that all MLAs have put their hands together for Praja Soudhas get administrative approval. 'The Chief Minister has shown special concern to build administrative buildings in the newly formed taluks, as they were much needed for the smooth functioning of daily activities and public convenience. The new Praja Soudha buildings will have all basic facilities and other requirements as people wanted,' Mr. Tunnur reacted. 'The Yadgir district has remained backward with a lack of civic facilities and government buildings. The government should establish other required buildings, including courts, for taluks for overall development,' Sharanu Gadduge, a pro-Kannada activist, has urged.

Excessive chemical use degrades soil; action plan to revive it, says CM Siddaramaiah
BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said excessive use of chemicals by farmers is a cause of concern as over 43% of land lost soil organic carbon leading to rapid desertification. The CM said to deal with this, it has been suggested to prepare an action plan to revive the soil. It has been suggested to educate farmers in this regard, he said. The CM said compared to previous years, farmer suicides have decreased and the aim is to focus on ensuring that there is no suicide. For this, teams have already been formed at the village level and these teams should be activated further. It has been suggested to take strict action at the district level to control private moneylenders and microfinance, he said. The CM said he has directed the senior officers to give notice to DDPI and BEOs in the places with below 60% pass rate in SSLC and second PU examinations. The number of children joining government schools is decreasing by around one and a half lakh to two lakh every year, the CM said added that to prevent this, regular meetings should be held with parents and BEOs should visit schools regularly. The DCs have been instructed to inform the concerned officials about this and take action.
