Thug Life crosses the Rs 2.50 crore mark in the advance booking
Starring Kamal Haasan, Trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan, and Nassar, Thug Life has recorded decent pre-sales of Rs 2.50 crore for the opening day on its home turf. The movie has sold around 1.50 lakh tickets in 1275 shows across 200 cinemas in Tamil Nadu. The movie is showing better trends than Amaran, Raayan, and Thangalaan among the recent Tamil releases. However, it has to pick up soon to record a phenomenal opening at the box office.
Besides Tamil Nadu, the movie is witnessing solid pre-sales at the US box office. It has already smashed over USD 315K of advances in North America and is expected to open with the career-best figures for Kamal Haasan in this territory. Moreover, the movie is also recording strong advances in Malaysia and Sri Lanka. While the action drama has already fetched good pre-sales of USD 58K in Malaysia, it has clocked around USD 9K advances at the Sri Lankan box office.
Thug Life in cinemas from June 5
Thug Life is all set to release in cinemas on June 5. The movie will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. It will clash with Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 in the Hindi belt. It will be interesting to see how the movie performs at the box office.
You can book your tickets from the online ticket-booking web portals or grab them from the counter itself.

Sara Ali Khan says she 'dehumanised' Alia Bhatt, confesses being jealous of her when she won a National Award: 'We don't see what goes behind it'

Sara Ali Khan who was last seen in 'Skyforce' is gearing up for the release of her next, ' Dino' which also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Sheikh. Sara who made her debut with 'Kedarnath' has now confessed in an interview that she was envious of Alia Bhatt when she won her first National Award for 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'. However, Sara is courageous enough to admit to her feelings and point out how she was wrong. She opened up on it in an interview with NDTV, "When Alia got the National Award, I was like, 'God, she got it, she has a kid also, her life is set'. But I don't know what she went through to get that. I, as an actor, dehumanised her.' She added further, 'You don't know, she must have had challenges and disappointments too, to reach where she has. But I didn't realise what went into it. There are two sides to every coin.' The actress admitted how being envious is wrong as one sees the success of a person but not what went behind it. She added, "Most often, when we are envious of other people, we feel so without all the information. We are envious because we just see that success and then we want that. We don't see what goes behind it; we never see it. Envy means blindness.' ' Dino' directed by Anurag Basu is set to hit the screens on July 4. Kamal Haasan on Kannada remark: My words were intended only to convey we are all from the same family

Veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan, on Tuesday (June 3, 2025), said he has always stood for the equal dignity of all Indian languages and remain opposed to the dominance of any one language over another, as such imbalance undermines the linguistic fabric of India. In a letter to Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Haasan addressed the controversy that has erupted after he suggested that 'Kannada came from Tamil' at the audio launch of his latest film Thug Life. His comments triggered strong reactions and resulted in the likelihood of the film not being released in Karnataka due to opposition from political parties. 'It pains me that my statement at the Thug Life audio launch — spoken out of genuine affection for the legendary Dr. Raj Kumar's family, especially Shiva Rajkumar — has been misunderstood and taken out of context. My words were intended only to convey that we are all one and from the same family and not to diminish Kannada in anyway,' he said. Speaking about rich history of Kannada language, Mr. Haasan, 'There is no dispute or debate on the rich legacy of Kannada language. Like Tamil, Kannada has a proud literary and cultural tradition that I have long admired. Throughout my career I have cherished the warmth and affected extended to me by the Kannada speaking community, and I say that with clear conscience and conviction: my love for the language is genuine and I have great respect for the love that Kannadigas have for their mother tongue.' Mr. Haasan further added, 'Cinema is a universal language that knows only love and bonding. My statement was also to establish that bond and unity is amongst all of us. It is this love and bond that my seniors taught me which I wanted to share. It is out of this love and bond that Shivanna attended the audio launch event. I really regret that Shivanna had to go through such embarrassment on account of this.' He further said, 'Cinema must remain a bridge between people - never a wall that divides them. This was the intent of my statement. And I never have been nor would I ever want to give any room for public unrest and animosity. I sincerely hope that my words are received in the spirit they were intended and that my enduring affection for Karnataka, its people and their language is recognised in its true light.'
