THAT'S SWEET I'm sick of mums forking out £70 for birthday cakes so DIY-ed one for my son with Asda buys for a fraction of the cost
WITH the cost of living continuing to squeeze household budgets, many parents are looking for ways to save money, especially when it comes to celebrations like birthdays.
A birthday cake is often a centrepiece, but with many shop-bought cakes costing a small fortune, it doesn't have to break the bank.

One mum has shown that you can create a fun, personalised cake for your child without spending a lot – and it can still be a big hit.
Crystal, a mum who shared a video on her TikTok page @crystal.jewell3, revealed how she made her son's ninth birthday cake using budget-friendly items from Asda.
Admitting she often leaves things until the last minute.
She added: "But hey, we moved and he's gonna have a birthday cake no matter what.'
Determined to make her son's day special, Crystal dashed to Asda before school pick-up and grabbed two of the budget Just Essentials by ASDA chocolate cakes, which costs £4.53 each.
She also bought chocolate icing, Kinder treats, Happy Hippos, and other sweets.
She explained: 'I can bake cakes but they come out shit half of the time, so I wasn't getting a chance at it today.'
Stacking the two cakes on top of each other, Crystal got creative with her decorations, layering the cake with the icing.
She then decorated the top of the cake herself, by adding her chocolate bars around the cake, as well as the Happy Hippos and Kinder egg surprises on top of the cake.
She admitted she didn't bother decorating the back of the cake, as she asked: "Who's going to see the back of the cake?" before adding: "Well in all honesty I never bought enough of them straw thingies (Chocolate straws) to even decorate the back of the cake.'
I DIY-ed a 'professional' level kids' birthday cake for less than £25 using Amazon & eBay buys - I didn't bake a thing
Despite her self-deprecating humour, Crystal's efforts paid off.
Once she put the cake into a box and revealed the finished product, she said: 'For some, you may look at it and think what a load of s**t.
"But do you know what? When he's here, he was over the moon.'
Within two days of her video being shared, Crystal went viral gaining one million views, and 1,681 comments as many people rushed to share their thoughts.
One wrote: "Let's normalise this kind of cake over the £70 baked cake for birthdays!"

A second added: "I'm gonna do this for my daughters graduation cake as I can't afford to get one done.
"Going to get two plane cakes. Lob em together and add some decorations from Amazon. Bish bash bosh well done us mums."
Whilst a third said: "The child will remember his cake, not how much it was.
"You've saved money on cake for other things. Top mum."

JoJo Siwa reveals she and Chris Hughes want to start family very soon
Big Brother star JoJo Siwa says 'I absolutely would love to have babies' as she discusses her future plans with boyfriend Chris Hughes after shutting down pregnancy rumours Dance Mom's star JoJo Siwa has hinted at her plans to start a family, which 'aren't that far away', with her boyfriend Chris Hughes as their whirlwind romance grows stronger. The couple met in the iconic Celebrity Big Brother house in April, and viewers watched their bond begin a loving friendship that eventually grew into something more. Not long after the show ended, the two revealed they started dating and have been sharing intimate details about their romance with fans online ever since. After travelling to the UK to promote her new song Raspy, JoJo opened up about her future and revealed she 'craves' motherhood in the future. It comes after David Beckham speaks 'as a father' in 'family' announcement after latest Brooklyn snub. When asked about whether she wants children, JoJo, 22, told The Sun: 'I crave them, I absolutely would love to have babies, it's absolutely in my future and I don't think it's that far away.' The dancer added: 'I'm at a place in my life where my career by no means is slowing down, but my career is at a point where it works and it runs and I know how to do everything that I'm doing and I'm not learning anything new, so I'm at a great place with that. 'Obviously I have a great boy in my life, there are a lot of things to happen before then, but definitely want kids.' JoJo's family admission follows after Chris, 32, opened up on their close relationship last month in a chat with US Weekly where he discussed the pair getting married. Chris said: "When you're besotted with each other and in love with someone, I think it's fun to look forward to those things." He added: "Of course, I want to get married to her, I would never shy away from that. And one day I want to have children. We both come from extremely loving families and very wholesome families who care for you so it would be nice to reciprocate that going forward. One day I'd love to have children, it would be an absolute dream for sure." Last month, JoJo hit out at the claims that she was pregnant to her 46 million followers on TikTok as she shared a video of herself plugging her cover of Bette Davis Eyes. The rumours began on TikTok after a video of Chris appearing to affectionately stroke JoJo's stomach sent fans down a rabbit hole and videos of fans discussing the rumours are being posted in their tens. JoJo decided to shut down the rumours by playing a game of Two Truths and A Lie, and asked fans which statement is a lie: '1) I've never smoked a [cigarette] 2) I'm pregnant 3) This song comes out on Spotify Friday.'

Molly-Mae Hague's sister finally ends Tommy Fury feud after doubts over romance
Molly-Mae Hague's sister Zoe has been spending time with Tommy Fury and her niece Bambi - suggesting the family are all getting along nicely after awkward past exchanges Molly-Mae Hague's sister has had a change of heart over Tommy Fury. Zoe is now supporting the Love Island star's reignited romance with boxer Tommy - after previously sharing her fears the relationship was unsalvageable. Reality show fans will recall watching Molly-Mae and Tommy, both 26, fall for each other on ITV back in 2019. They then enjoyed one of the strongest romances in Love Island history - moving in together soon after leaving the villa, welcoming a baby daughter named Bambi in January 2023, and getting engaged six months later. But fans were shocked in August last year - when Molly-Mae revealed the unthinkable - that her romance with Tommy had come to a crashing end after months of speculation about the state of their relationship. By the beginning of this year, however, the couple appeared close together. It comes after Andy Carroll 'splits from Lou Teasdale due to her demands' weeks after public row. READ MORE: Gemma Collins' plans for 'mystical' wedding on hold again as she makes blunt admission And in May they confirmed they were giving their romance another try. Molly-Mae's sister Zoe, however, had expressed her fears that the relationship was doomed - with her damning opinion being aired in the reality couple's Amazon reality show, Behind It All, in May. Now, three months on, it seems Zoe, Molly-Mae, and Tommy are all getting along swimmingly. Taking to social media over the weekend, the trio shared footage and photos of themselves working out in a gym together - alongside toddler Bambi. Zoe and Bambi could be seen performing burpee exercises together, while further content showed the toddler watching her dad, Tommy, running on a treadmill in the same gym. Molly-Mae shared content alongside an amusing caption, writing: "I think she may feel the same about the gym as I do," drawing attention to Bambi's unimpressed expression while watching her dad exercise. The happy family scenes come just a few short months after the Love Island stars confirmed they were back together. A source previously said of the reunion: 'It sounds extreme, but Molly feels much more reassured when Tommy checks in. It all helps with trust, honesty and transparency between the two of them. "Tommy has been very dedicated so far — if he's on a train, he will FaceTime the moment he gets off. It's the same with any flights that he takes or hotels he's staying in. 'Tommy dutifully phones Molly the minute that he arrives anywhere. And then she likes him to also show her where he is. This has been going on for months now, and Tommy's friends are impressed that he has agreed to it whole-heartedly.' The strict rules were laid down after Tommy had opened up about his relationship with alcohol. He said last year: 'The reason why me and Molly broke up was because I got addicted to alcohol and I couldn't be the partner that I wanted to be any more. 'It kills me to say it, but it's true, I couldn't. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink, and it is what it is.' Following the confessions, Zoe had shared her concerns over her sister getting back together with the boxer. She said in scenes that aired in the Amazon reality show: "I would always, always, always, 100% be there for her,' Zoe insists in a tense on-camera exchange. 'But, yeah, I do worry for her, and my relationship with her if they would get back together. Definitely. I just want us to get on. I actually don't hate you in the slightest. Like, I feel like you actually hate me." Molly-Mae then hit back: 'No, I don't hate you. But I feel that anger from you towards me, from like, years and years of us sometimes having arguments.' But Zoe refused to back down, warning: 'I think she potentially needs to look into the future and think what's best for her and Bambi. She's got a long, rocky road ahead, unfortunately.' Molly-Mae has even had to hit back at her own fans - who have accused Tommy of not doing enough for his daughter and suggesting Zoe has been more present for her. In an emotional video post, Molly-Mae told her followers: "I've seen so many comments saying 'Zoe is more the dad' I only vlog when I am not with Tommy, I am with Tommy literally 80 per cent of the week and he is with Bambi the majority of the week. "But I vlog when we are here and he is at his because it's just something that I am not ready to like open up with yet and like flinging the camera around like when we're a family. I just think like we're not there yet and still figuring out life and living situations. I'm not ready to vlog like we used to."

As beauty buffs are learning to love and rock their authentic selves, thousands have taken to social media to show off their epic transformations - including TikTok user Nicole (@glitchnicole). For the past six years, Nicole had been getting facial fillers - and while at the time she didn't care what others had to say about the look, Nicole recently decided she was ready for a major change. ''It made me really happy. But now, I'm in a different stage and I wanted to reverse it - and I just did it,'' she said in a video posted this week. ''It is my body, my choice and my happiness. I'm really happy with my decision now but I'm not going to deny, I was also really happy then - and that is exactly the point. ''You don't always change something because you hate yourself - sometimes you do it simply because you want to, because it feels right for you.'' Nicole added that while she loved that people were ''going natural'', there could be a time where she could return to fillers - if that's what she wanted. As well as ditching fillers for the time being, the beauty buff has also said goodbye to another popular trend - hair extensions. Up until the jaw-dropping makeover, the TikToker was sporting Rapunzel-like hair - which weighed a whopping 400g, she revealed in a follow-up clip. I've lost 9 stone & am barely recognisable from my former self - my transformation's so insane people even think it's AI According to the stunner, the transformation has knocked off ''five years of age'' - and it's all thanks to giving up these two looks. But while Nicole may eventually have facial fillers again, one thing is clear - social media users cannot get enough of her new self. Four ways to give yourself a glowdown Thick fluffly lashes are out, so is the fake tan and long how to have the ultimate glow-down in four steps... The term "glow-down" refers to a woman removing what once was the most popular beauty choices, for a more natural look. Nails - Gone are the long, plastic talons, more women are favouring BIAB or gel manis. Hair colour - Remember when everyone wanted icy white hair? Not anymore! Millions of women are trying to go back to their roots (literally), and have soft blondes, and warm gold tones added to their hair, in a bid to achieve the "old money blonde" look. Makeup - Sculpting your face shape through the art of contouring is no more. Ladies are adding freckles and sweeping blush across cheekbones instead. One person wrote: ''You look SOOO much better. Younger. More vibrant.'' Another fan agreed, adding: ''Incredible honestly!! Best decision you've made to remove them fillers.'' Someone else chimed in: ''An angel got her wings back.'' ''Absolutely YES! You looked like you were already in your 40s!! Now you're glowing,'' a viewer commented. ''I'm Dutch, and even for a Dutch person I can be very straight forward. So my honest opinion: best decision ever and please don't ever do it again!'' a fan begged, ''You look way better, healthier, powerful, elegant, beautiful than before. Well done that lady!''
