iOS 26 Beta Update Brings Adaptive Power Battery Feature For iPhones: How It Works

iOS 26 Beta Update Brings Adaptive Power Battery Feature For iPhones: How It Works

News187 hours ago
iOS 26 beta update is adding a new design, some new AI upgrades and also a battery-saving method for select iPhone models.
Apple's new AI-powered battery feature is getting more tools with the latest iOS 26 beta update that is available for select iPhone models. The new battery feature was previewed at the WWDC 2025 earlier this year and Apple introduced the tool with the first iOS 26 beta updates and now even the public beta version has it in full glory.
As the name suggests, adaptive power is allowing you to get more from the iPhone battery rather than hunting for the charger to juice up the device before the day ends. We mostly heard about this feature but didn't actually get to use or experience it before which has changed with the iOS 26 public beta updates.
Adaptive power is part of the battery settings for iPhones that support AI features. This means the new tool is available if you have the iPhone 15 Pro or later models. The company claims the new battery feature can make 'small performance adjustments' to give you longer battery life.
These changes include reducing the display brightness which does help increase the life, as well as delaying some of the activities to run on the device. This is what the Adaptive Power description tells you with the iOS 26 beta update.
We're not sure why Apple needs AI to use the new Adaptive power feature but it is likely that the intuitive reading to study the battery usage needs more than regular software tweaks. The new feature is disabled by default and you can use it with these steps:
When your iPhone is on the low power mode, the device will see background activities reduced, the processing speed comes down, and features like 5G, iCloud sync and more will see lower impact.
These iOS 26 beta updates are rolling out fast, right in time for Apple to announce the iPhone 17 series next month, and share the iOS 26 public release details.

Infosys Gives 80% Average Bonus Payout To Employees For Q1 FY26: Report

The bonus, applicable to employees in Band 6 and below (which largely includes junior and mid-level staff), is linked to performance ratings across levels, according to a report. IT major Infosys has rolled out its quarterly performance bonus for the first quarter of FY2025-26, with an organisation-wide average payout of 80 per cent, according to a Moneycontrol report citing an internal communication. The move follows the Bengaluru-headquartered company's strong June 2025 quarter earnings, where it beat analyst expectations on both profit and revenue. The bonus, applicable to employees in Band 6 and below (which largely includes junior and mid-level staff), is linked to performance ratings across levels. For PL4 employees, payouts range between 80-89 per cent, while PL5 employees will see 78-87 per cent, and PL6 employees will receive 75-85 per cent, depending on their performance category. At PL4, those rated 'Outstanding" will get 89 per cent of their eligible bonus, while those marked 'Needs Attention" are set at 80 per cent. At PL6, top performers will receive 85 per cent, with the lowest band fixed at 75 per cent. Infosys has informed employees that their individual bonus letters will be uploaded to their e-dockets. The average payout this quarter is higher than the previous one, which stood at around 65 per cent for eligible staff. The company posted an 8.7 per cent year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 6,921 crore in Q1, while revenue grew 7.5 per cent to Rs 42,279 crore, surpassing Street forecasts. This comes against the backdrop of wider compensation changes at the company. Infosys had earlier announced that it would roll out 6–8 percent annual salary hikes for employees in India starting January 2025, with a second phase in April 2025. 'Broadly, the comp (annual salary increment) that we are expecting is 6-8% in India, and the overseas comps will be in line with the earlier comp reviews," Infosys CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka had said after its Q3FY25 results. Infosys employs over 3.23 lakh professionals. The development follows rival Tata Consultancy Services' announcement of a wage hike effective September 1, even as it reportedly prepares to lay off about 12,000 employees this year. view comments First Published: August 20, 2025, 17:11 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Microsoft Staff Stage Sit-In At HQ Over Company's Israel Links: 'Gaza Is Being Bombed'

Microsoft employees staged a sit-in at the Redmond campus, accusing the company of enabling Israeli military operations in Gaza. Dozens of Microsoft employees and former staff staged a sit-in at the company's campus in Redmond, Washington, accusing the tech giant of enabling Israeli military operations in Gaza through its software. The demonstrators, who declared part of the campus a 'Free Zone", held placards reading 'Join the Worker Intifada – No Labor for Genocide" and 'Martyred Palestinian Children's Plaza". The protest was organised by the activist group No Azure for Genocide, which has been calling on Microsoft to end contracts with Israel and divest from the country. It comes less than a week after Microsoft said it had launched an independent review into claims that its Azure cloud services were being used by the Israeli military for surveillance. Anger Over Surveillance Claims Earlier this month, reports in the Guardian and Israel's +972 Magazine alleged that Israel's military intelligence unit, Unit 8200, had used Azure to store mobile phone recordings of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. The company denied knowledge of such practices, saying, 'We are not aware of the surveillance of civilians or collection of their cellphone conversations using Microsoft's services. Based on these reviews, including interviewing dozens of employees and assessing documents, we have found no evidence to date that Microsoft's Azure and AI technologies have been used to target or harm people in the conflict in Gaza." One protester, former employee Hossam Nasr, said the action was prompted by what he described as Microsoft's inadequate response. He said, 'I watched [journalist] Anas al-Sharif report on Gaza relentlessly, through starvation, through extermination campaigns, through bombing. He was intentionally targeted." Another employee, Nasreen Jaradat, said, 'Every single second that we wait, things are worse and worse in Palestine. More and more people are being bombed and maimed. It's time for us to escalate, however we can." The protest comes amid growing concern from international organisations about the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The UN has warned of 'widespread starvation, malnutrition and disease", while health authorities in Gaza estimate more than 62,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its military response to Hamas's 7 October attacks. view comments First Published: August 20, 2025, 16:39 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Viral Instagram video shows man ‘stealing' Final Cut Pro app from Apple Store - But does it work?

You may or may not have seen viral videos of people airdropping expensive Final Cut Pro software onto their Apple devices from a MacBook in an Apple Store. These infamous clips show individuals airdropping the software onto their devices, allowing them to run it on their own Macs for free, bypassing the hefty price tag of ₹29,900 for the official Apple version. But does this trick really work as claimed? Well, the answer is yes, but it involves some caveats. Apple Final Cut Pro costs ₹ 29,900. AirDrop Final Cut Pro To Your Own Apple Device: Details Firstly, the app you airdrop to yourself won't receive any official updates from Apple. This means you won't have access to new features unless you purchase the full version. Paying for the software is the only way to receive official updates and link your purchase directly to your Apple ID. Note: It's important to note that we do not endorse piracy or the unauthorised copying of Apple software. In fact, this method could be considered theft. Moreover, distributing Apple's original software in this manner is also illegal and could be classified as piracy.
