In short, the Google Pixel 9 Pro's key advantage is the 48MP 5x (113mm) periscope camera. The 42MP ultra-wide selfie camera is a nice perk too. Both phones use the Tensor G4, but the Pro has more RAM (16GB vs. 12GB), which should help. The Pixel 9 and 9 Pro are equal in one respect – size. If you want a bigger screen, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL offers a 6.8' panel. The battery life is about the same on both phones, but the Pro XL has a slight advantage in charging. More details in our Pixel 9 Pro vs. 9 Pro XL article and in the video above.
One non-Pixel phone on offer this week is the Samsung Galaxy A36. Even without a metal frame, we found its build quality to be great. The screen is bright and the stereo speakers are loud, but certain features like HDR are missing. Next up, Samsung tablets. Going in ascending order means that we start with the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024), the third iteration. It has a big 40% discount on the 128GB model (the 64GB model is the same price due to a smaller discount). The Exynos 1280 is okay and there is a microSD slot, but the 4GB of RAM is quite limiting. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 is from mid-2023 but still has a couple of OS updates left (it just got One UI 7). It has a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and 8GB of RAM, which helps performance (there's a microSD slot too). The screen is an 11' 120Hz OLED panel and you get full DeX support (the Tab S6 Lite has DeX, but it's limited to the tablet's own screen).
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra are the current models (there is no vanilla model in this generation). They have 12.4' and 14.6' displays, respectively, with 10,090mAh and 11,200mAh batteries. Both are powered by the Dimensity 9300+ chipset. Note that the Tab S9 launched with Android 13 and is only promised 4 OS updates, while the Tab S10 series came with Android 14 and is getting 7 OS updates.

Huawei has switchable lenses on the Pura 80 Ultra, iOS 26 is here, Week 24 in review
It was a busy week. Both Apple and Google offered major software events - Apple's WWDC detailed the next versions of its iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and Apple TV software, while Google released Android 16 to the masses. Apple's iOS 26 has a new design called Liquid Glass with emphasis on transparent and changeable visuals, inspired by VisionOS. And yeah, we jumped from iOS 18 to 26 because of consistency. The iPad got a major update too with the addition on the Background Tasks API - now you can finally call it a computer! Huawei's Pura 80 series is here, and the Pura 80 Ultra is unique. It has a 1-inch type main camera, an amazing screen, a big battery, but that's not the unique part. It packs a 50MP 1/1.28-inch sensor attached to two zoom lenses. Huawei fitted an intricate moving mechanism that shifts between the two lenses. You get 3.7x and 9.4x optical zoom with sensor-shift OIS. This effectively means that you can capture shots at f/2.4 aperture with an 83 mm equivalent focal length or at f/3.6 aperture with a 212 mm focal length. The Pura 80 series is available in China - the Pura 80 Pro and Pro+ already, while the Pura 80 Ultra is on pre-order and will begin shipping on June 26. The vanilla Pura 80 isn't available just yet. Google released the stable Android 16 to its Pixel lineup, going back to the Pixel 6 series. However, two of Android 16's biggest changes are not part of this first stable release. We're talking about Material 3 Expressive and the new Desktop mode, which will arrive later. There's no sign of the Glyph Interface - and the dot-matrix display that is rumored to be replacing it. The most significant redesign since iOS 7 is here. The two lenses are attached to a massive 1/1.28-inch telephoto sensor. Huawei has stepped up not just its camera game, but it has improved satellite messaging, faster chipsets, better water resistance and more. Available for Pixel 6 series and up. Oppo quietly launched A5i and A5i Pro, though they are not entirely novel designs. Both are based on the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1, which is a rebrand of the Snapdragon 662. The same chip was used in the Oppo A5 Pro 4G, which shares many similarities with these two new models. The Oppo A5i Pro is available in the Philippines – right now, it's exclusively sold through Shopee, but starting on June 20 it will also be available from Oppo's TikTok shop and Lazada. The Pro is priced at PHP 9,000, which converts to $160/€140/₹14,000. We haven't found Oppo A5i in stores just yet. The A5i comes in Starry Purple and Nebula Red, the A5i Pro comes in Midnight Purple. You probably saw this coming. The Pro also has the better camera, though the differences between the two models aren't huge. Unsurprisingly they will be higher than their predecessors'. Google launching a line of wireless charging accessories could have a big impact on Pixel's future
Google might finally be catching up to Apple when it comes to accessories, and that could make a real difference for Pixel users. A recent report suggests that the Pixel 10 may introduce magnetic charging support. If true, this could lay the groundwork for a new kind of accessory system — something that's been referred to as "Pixelsnap." But to make this work, Google will need to do more than just add magnets. It needs to launch a complete lineup of its own accessories that are designed to work with the feature. Apple's MagSafe system, introduced with the iPhone 12, has become more than a wireless charging solution. It's now a full ecosystem of magnetic accessories: wallets, chargers, battery packs, mounts, and more. Apple's own products lead the way, and third-party makers have followed with plenty of options. The system is reliable, easy to use, and consistent across the iPhone lineup. In comparison, Android phones, including Pixel devices, have long supported Qi wireless charging but never had a shared magnetic standard. That's created an uneven experience. A few Android brands like Motorola and Realme have explored magnetic systems, but none have reached wide adoption or established a consistent accessory lineup. One issue that has held back Pixel devices in particular is the placement of the wireless charging coil. Unlike iPhones, which have their MagSafe coil centered directly in the middle of the device, Pixel phones tend to place their coil slightly higher on the back. This difference may seem minor, but it can cause problems with accessory compatibility. For users trying to use MagSafe accessories with a Pixel, the experience has often been unreliable. A Pixelsnap system could fix that by standardizing the coil location and adding a magnetic ring designed specifically for accessory alignment. This wouldn't just make accessories work better, it would also give Google a chance to develop its own platform of tightly integrated products — from chargers and stands to wallets and mounts. Right now, Pixel users don't have many first-party accessory options beyond the Pixel Stand and a small set of official cases. Google has largely relied on third parties to fill in the gaps, but that approach has left the Pixel ecosystem feeling incomplete. If Pixelsnap is coming, this is a chance to change that. With one well-designed magnetic system, these devices could work together more seamlessly and deliver a more consistent user experience. But success will depend on how committed Google is. If the magnetic ring is added quietly without any first-party accessories, Pixelsnap risks being overlooked or ignored. To stand out, Google needs to launch a curated line of accessories that show off what the system can do. These products should be available at launch, work flawlessly, and show that Google is serious about offering more than just the phone. There's also the question of whether this system will remain exclusive to Pixel phones or expand to other Android devices. If it's made open, Pixelsnap could grow into a broader Android standard — something the ecosystem has long needed. But if it's limited to Pixel, Google will need to show why that exclusivity adds value. As Apple continues to strengthen its ecosystem and Samsung doubles down on foldables and wearables, I believe this could be the Pixel's chance to fill a different role in the Android space. A smartly executed Pixelsnap system could bring the kind of consistency and polish Pixel users have been asking for ages. It's a small addition on the surface, but it could have a big impact — one that makes the Pixel feel more like part of a thoughtful ecosystem, rather than a standalone device. For Google, the real challenge is sticking with it and getting every piece to snap into place.

The iPad just became more like a Mac — and that could finally justify a 15-inch model
Apple has made a lot of changes to the iPad over the years, but iPadOS 26 might be one of the most important updates yet. The new software brings a more desktop-like experience to the iPad, and according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, it could be the perfect time for Apple to introduce a larger model — possibly a long-rumored 15-inch iPad. One of the biggest improvements in iPadOS 26 is the new multitasking system. Apple has replaced the Stage Manager feature with a more flexible and user-friendly way to manage multiple windows. You can now freely move apps around, resize them more smoothly, and use new toggles to tile windows side by side. A new Exposé mode shows all open apps at once, and there's even a Mac-style menu bar to help you navigate. Past versions of iPadOS tried to bring desktop features to the iPad without going too far. But now, Apple seems more comfortable letting the iPad compete directly with the Mac — and the software feels more mature because of it. That shift could open the door to a larger iPad. Right now, the biggest model is the 13-inch iPad Pro. But if Apple really wants to make the most of these new multitasking tools, a 15-inch version could make a lot of sense. It would give users more space to work and offer a better fit for the new windowing features. Gurman reports that the company is working toward a future where iPads and Macs share many of the same design elements and apps. The main difference would be how users interact with them: touch on iPads, keyboards and trackpads on Macs. He also says Apple is planning a 19-inch foldable device for 2028 that would combine elements of both. Of course, releasing a larger iPad won't be enough on its own. Apple still needs to get developers to update their apps for bigger screens and make sure the iPad remains a strong option for both casual and professional users. But with iPadOS 26 finally bringing a more complete multitasking experience, the idea of a 15-inch iPad is no longer just a rumor — it might be the missing piece. I am personally looking forward to this future, iPadOS 26 already feels completely different using it with the new windowing system and having a larger 15" model, would definitely take that experience to that next level.
