PKR election: All candidates urged to uphold order, decorum in campaign
SHAH ALAM: All candidates contesting in the 2025 PKR Election have been urged to uphold decorum and order, and to adhere to the guidelines set by the Central Election Committee (JPP) throughout their campaign.
PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari in a post on platform X said the reminder also applied to him as he is defending his position.
He urged candidates to take advantage of the upcoming party elections as a platform to present ideas and visions in a mature manner.
"This election is an opportunity for us to reflect on our past term's performance, to be evaluated by party members, and to be observed by the public.
"As a core party in the unity government, the people will be watching our every action and behaviour. Let us all demonstrate peaceful and mature politics for everyone's benefit," he said.
The nomination process, which ended last Friday, saw Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim retaining his presidency unchallenged, while the deputy president post will see a contest between Nurul Izzah Anwar and incumbent Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, who is also the economy minister.
In the race for the vice-president post, aside from Amirudin, 11 others have submitted their nominations, including three incumbents, namely, Nik Nazmi Nik Mat (natural resources and environmental sustainability minister), Chang Lih Kang (science, technology and innovation minister), and Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (Menteri Besar of Negri Sembilan).
The Finance Minister's political secretary Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim was uncontested for the position of PKR Youth (AMK) chief, while incumbent Fadhlina Sidek (Education Minister) and Rodziah Ismail (the Ampang member of parliament) will have a rematch for the position of PKR Women's chief.
The PKR National Congress, including the AMK and Women's Congress, is scheduled to be held from May 21 to 24 in Johor Baru, with May 23 set as polling day.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the exemption covers all institutions, including preschools, primary and secondary schools, vocational education centres, institutions of higher learning and general training institutes. Advertisement 'After receiving numerous views from (private) education and training institutions, the Madani Government has sought the best solution to train our young people. 'This (exemption) is intended to allow them to focus on improving quality,' he said when officiating at the highlight of the National Training Weeks (NTW) 2025 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium grounds, here, Saturday. Also present was Human Resources Minister Steven Sim. At the same time, the Prime Minister directed the Secretaries-General of the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma) to monitor and ensure that these training institutions offer quality training following the granting of the levy waiver. 'Also monitor private companies with high profits to ensure they give something back to their workers,' he added. Under the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad Act 2001 (Act 612), employers are required to pay a levy to the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), an agency under the Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma), for training and skills development. Anwar also stressed the need to train the younger generation in new fields using current methods, in line with the Madani Economic Framework, and not remain stuck in outdated training approaches. He said these include areas such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors and chip manufacturing. 'Malaysia's semiconductor industry is not small — the country is regarded as a hub and base for the Asean region. Nearly all of the world's largest semiconductor and AI companies are based in Malaysia,' he said. Meanwhile, Kesuma, in a statement, said the levy exemption amounts to RM46 million. Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin said the successful organisation of the fifth edition of HAWANA was the result of seven months of meticulous planning by Bernama staff, with the support of various parties. 'Alhamdulillah, I am grateful that our efforts over the past seven months to ensure the smooth execution of this event have paid off.
