Don't worry - Alexander Isak is COMING

Isak unwilling to stay with Newcastle
The forward has made it plain he wants to leave St. James' Park this summer. Newcastle were hoping that their star attraction would be willing to sign a new contract - with his current terms extending until 2028.
But Isak told the club he is NOT interested in a pay rise - and instead was seeking an immediate exit.
Isak did not travel with Eddie Howe's squad for their preseason tour to Asia - citing a minor thigh injury - and has been training at Real Sociedad's facilities while he awaits a move.
Don't let this rejection fool you
Liverpool of course are right there for Isak - with sporting director Richard Hughes having the striker top of his list of potential recruits.
The club are aware it would take a British record fee to land Isak - and right now it might be assumed that Newcastle won't let it happen.
But don't let this first rejection fool you.
It took Liverpool around FOUR attempts before Bayer Leverkusen were convinced to sell Florian Wirtz. The Germans told Liverpool 'No' time and again until Richard Hughes conjured a bid guaranteeing £100m down and another £16m in add-ons.
That deal was never in doubt - despite the rejections. It was just a case of the two sides meeting in the middle.

Alex Highsmith being evaluated for a groin injury

Steelers edge rusher Alex Highsmith could miss some time with a groin injury. Highsmith left Sunday's practice after getting hurt during a drill. Head coach Mike Tomlin said it was the only new injury in the session and that Highsmith is going to be checked out by medical personnel. "Alex Highsmith didn't finish," Tomlin said, via the team's website. "Don't know the severity of it. In the one-on-one pass rush period, he stopped. He said maybe he felt his groin. But we'll evaluate it, and I'll be more definitive next time we talk, not only about the injury but the significance of it." Highsmith dealt with groin injuries last season and missed six games. He had 45 tackles, six sacks and a forced fumble when he was healthy enough to play.

Phinia acquires Swedish Electromagnet Invest for $47m

Premium fuel systems and aftermarket solutions firm Phinia has acquired Swedish Electromagnet Invest (SEM) for Skr452m ($47m). SEM, established in 1915, specialises in advanced natural gas, hydrogen, and other alternative fuel ignition systems, primarily for the commercial vehicle and industrial markets. In June 2025, Phinia signed a definitive agreement to acquire the SEM's issued and outstanding shares. The acquisition is set to bolster Phinia's portfolio in alternative fuel technologies and is anticipated to generate around $50m of annual revenue as well as nearly $10m of annual adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA). Phinia will integrate SEM's expertise in advanced ignition technologies for both on- and off-road commercial and industrial engines. The acquisition is expected to enhance Phinia's product portfolio and strategy, enabling the company to explore adjacent market opportunities and provide customers with a broad range of products and turnkey solutions. Phinia CEO and president Brady Ericson said: 'We're genuinely excited about what lies ahead. This acquisition opens new possibilities through the strategic expansion of our portfolio. 'By combining Phinia's expertise in engine management systems with SEM's deep knowledge of advanced ignition technologies, we expect to create a powerful platform for innovation and efficiency.' For second quarter (Q2) 2025, Phinia reported net sales of $890m, marking a 2.5% year-over-year increase, and adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.27 per share. Phinia concluded the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $347m and $499m of available capacity under its revolving credit facility. The company's total debt was reported at $990m. Adjusted free cash flow also saw a decline, coming in at $20m, which is a significant drop from the $108m reported in the Q2 2024. This decline was largely attributed to higher working capital demands, which arose as the company dealt with changing order volumes and other dynamic conditions within the industry, as well as the timing of its capital spending. Phinia updated its financial outlook for the year, now expecting net sales to be between $3.33bn and $3.43bn. CBS Sports predicts Nebraska's first loss of the 2025 football season

A new list predicts that Nebraska will go 3-0 before suffering its first loss of the 2025 football season. Brad Crawford of CBS Sports predicted the first loss for all 18 conference teams. Crawford believes that the Huskers will suffer their first loss on September 20 against the Michigan Wolverines. Nebraska's 2025 schedule has been a topic of conversation over the last several months. Phil Steele recently named the Huskers' schedule as the easiest schedule in the conference. They also recently ranked tenth in the conference for miles traveled during the season with 2,790 miles scheduled. The Cornhuskers will only travel four times during Big Ten play. They will play at Minnesota, Maryland, and Penn State, but the farthest road trip in 2025 will be on November 8 when Nebraska plays the UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl. Here is what Crawford had to say about his prediction of a loss against the Wolverines. "Matt Rhule has lost his last 16 games against nationally ranked opponents. He'll look to end that skid against the Wolverines in Week 4 after what could be a 3–0 start. Dylan Raiola's national coming-out party could happen if Nebraska defends its home turf against one of the league's most talented teams." Nebraska will open the 2025 college football season on Thursday, August 28, when the Huskers face the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. CT. Contact/Follow us @CornhuskersWire on X (formerly Twitter), and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Nebraska news, notes, and opinions.
