Thai soldiers kill 5 drug smugglers, seize 1.35m meth pills in Chiang Mai
The confrontation occurred around 2.40am when troops from the 3rd Cavalry Company, under the Chaiyanupap Task Force, encountered a group of six to eight individuals carrying large rucksacks suspected to contain drugs. When ordered to stop, the group opened fire on the soldiers with unidentified weapons, prompting a 10-minute gunfight.
No Thai personnel were injured in the exchange. After securing the area, reinforcements were deployed, including two additional ground units, two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and a military K9 unit specialised in drug detection.
A search of the area uncovered nine rucksacks, each containing approximately 150,000 meth pills, totalling 1,350,000 pills. Authorities also seized one homemade shotgun, one improvised pistol and two mobile phones. Also found were the bodies of five dead traffickers.
Col Amnat Wachirasaksopana, commander of the Chaiyanupap Task Force, led a joint inspection with local agencies. The confiscated drugs and weapons were handed over to Fang police station for further legal proceedings.

Police sting nabs online gun seller
KHON KAEN - Police arrested a 42-year-old man illegally selling firearms online in an undercover sting on Wednesday, and seized two semi-automatic pistols. Cyber Crime Investigation Division 3 led the operation to arrest Tinakrit, alias Kom, in a parking lot behind Ban Muang market in tambon Ban Thum, Muang district, about 1pm. They impounded a black 9mm Luger Parabellum and a black-sand coloured Sig Sauer P320SP pistol. Division 3 had learned Tinakrit was selling firearms, offering buyers weapon inspections before purchase at discounted prices. The unit coordinated with the investigation division of Provincial Police Region 4 to plan the sting. Undercover officers arranged to purchase the Luger for 24,000 baht. When Tinakrit arrived to show the weapon, they identified themselves. During the arrest they discovered he was carrying the second pistol. Police said Tinakrit admitted ownership of both weapons, and said he purchased them from an unidentified Thai man he met through social media but could no longer contact. He was charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and handed over to Muang Khon Kaen station for legal proceedings.

Hun Sen 'bodyguard' arrested in Buri Ram
BURI RAM: A Cambodian soldier arrested in this northeastern province bordering Cambodia is supected of being a member of the Bodyguard Headquarters (BHQ) of Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen. Lamduan police in Krasang district said in its Facebook page on Tuesday that its officers arrested the BHQ member, who was likely spying on Thai military movements in the province. Lamduan police posted several pictures of the man, who had tattoos on his chest and arms along with BHQ uniform attire and camouflage hat. The "spy" was arrested at a house in Krasang district. He told police he just lived there with his Thai wife. Police were continuing to Interrogate him.

Govt denies hatching plan to assassinate Cambodian leaders
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has firmly rejected recent Cambodian media reports that Thailand planned to assassinate Cambodia's leaders. They allege that Thai forces intended to use an AT-6TH light attack aircraft equipped with GPS-guided bombs to target Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet. The allegations circulated in Cambodian media were also shared on social platforms by Cambodia's Minister of Information. In response, Thailand's Department of Information director-general and Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Nikorndej Balankura dismissed the claims as entirely irrational and aimed at damaging Thailand's image. He emphasised that the spread of such disinformation, especially during ongoing bilateral talks through the General Border Committee (GBC), undermines efforts to resolve tensions peacefully. The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) also issued a firm rebuttal, affirming that all Thai air operations are conducted in strict compliance with international humanitarian law and within the framework of the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 51, which covers the right to self-defence. Additionally, RTAF spokesperson AM Prapas Sornchaidee addressed separate accusations concerning the RTAF's alleged use of MK-84 bombs and cluster munitions to attack Cambodia. Cambodian sources claimed the MK-84 bomb, manufactured in 1996, recently found on Cambodian soil belonged to the RTAF. The Thai air force denied the allegations, stating that it had not procured munitions from the sources cited by Cambodia and that all of its defence procurements are made solely through certified partners under official defence cooperation frameworks.
