Kerry SFC draw: East Kerry to meet St Kieran's in preliminary round
The preliminary round 1 draw for the Kerry SFC was made on Monday evening with a new format that only involves district teams. It had to be devised when Shannon Rangers and Feale Rangers decided at the eleventh hour to band together and play under the North Kerry banner. This means that seven sides will take part in two preliminary rounds to determine the five teams which will join the nine senior club sides in round 1 proper of the 2025 SFC. Preliminary round 1 featured six teams in the draw, making up three fixtures. The teams were East Kerry, Mid Kerry, St Brendan's, St Kieran's, South Kerry and West Kerry with new entrants North Kerry getting a bye to the second round. The winners of the three preliminary round 1 games - which will be played on the weekend of September 19/20/21 - will progress to the SFC round 1 while the three losers will join North Kerry in the second preliminary round. The winners of those two games will also advance to round 1 of the SFC, completing the line-up. The most eye-catching game will see former champions East Kerry under new manager Adrian Sheehan taking on a St Kieran's side which reached the quarter-finals last year, losing out to a crack East Kerry side. St Brendan's, who will be without Austin Stacks this year as they are back at senior level, reached the semi-finals last year and they will play Mid Kerry who lost three finals to East Kerry in 2020, 2022 and 2023. South Kerry will face West Kerry with the lads from the West being backboned by the An Ghaeltacht side going well in the intermediate championship. There will be an open draw for the first round proper of this year's SFC with the first two teams drawn receiving byes. Kerry SFC preliminary round 1 St Kieran's v East Kerry; St Brendan's v Mid Kerry; South Kerry v West Kerry

Trump administration in talks to take 10% stake in Intel
The Trump administration is in talks to take a 10% stake in Intel by converting some or all of the struggling company's Chips Act grants into equity. Shares of Intel fell about 3% on Monday, after rallying last week on hopes of US federal support. A 10% stake in the American chipmaker would be worth about $10bn. Intel has been slated to receive a combined $10.9bn in Chips Act grants for commercial and military production, and the figure is roughly enough to pay for the US government's holding, Bloomberg News reported, citing a White House official and other sources. Intel declined to comment on the report, while the White House did not respond to a request for comment. Reuters could not immediately verify the report. Media reports said last week that the US government may buy a stake in Intel, after a meeting between CEO Lip-Bu Tan and US president Donald Trump that was sparked by Mr Trump's demand for the new Intel chief's resignation over his ties to Chinese firms.
