2025 MLB All-Star Mic'ed Up Moments: Kershaw's 'Cheese' and PCA's 'Oh Shoot!'
Here were some of the best mic'ed up moments from Atlanta:
'I'm Gonna Throw Some Cheese Real Quick'
Kershaw had some fun tipping his pitches during his half-inning of work, including his showdown with Home Run Derby champion Cal Raleigh. Luckily for Kershaw, Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker saved him with a nice catch on the Big Dumper's line drive.
Kershaw to Smoltz: 'I Don't Throw a Cutter!'
Kershaw kept up the friendly banter with FOX Sports analyst John Smoltz by asking him which pitch to throw next. Kershaw politely informed his fellow pitching legend that he doesn't throw a cutter before sitting down Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with a signature curve.
Like Father, Like Son? 'Your Flow is Fantastic'
Former MLB star Jack Wilson was one proud papa as he saw his son, Athletics rookie Jacob Wilson, make his All-Star debut at shortstop. The elder Wilson, who was an All-Star himself in 2004, seemed more complimentary of his son's hairdo than anything else.
'I Got It! Oh Shoot, You're Right There!'
Good thing that Cubs duo Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker have developed a good relationship in the Wrigley Field outfield. That helped PCA in Atlanta when both players were going for Jacob Wilson's flyball.

One of state's top basketball seniors gets limited eligibility from IHSAA after transfer to Fishers
The eligibility of one of the state's top high school basketball players is in question for the upcoming season. The Indiana High School Athletic Association ruled Wednesday Kai McGrew, who transferred from Lawrence North to Fishers in the spring, will have limited eligibility for the upcoming season in its initial decision. That ruling would limit McGrew to junior varsity games for 365 days from his last varsity game, which was the Class 4A semistate on March 22. The 6-9 McGrew, an Indiana Junior All-Star and ranked No. 4 in the state by IndyStar in the 2026 in-state class, averaged 14.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists as a junior at Lawrence North, helping the Wildcats to a 22-7 record and Class 4A semistate championship game appearance. McGrew transferred to Fishers after the season, prior to the new first-time transfer from the IHSAA going into effect on June 1, meaning his transfer was processed by the IHSAA under the previous transfer rules. McGrew enrolled at Fishers High School on April 22. McGrew's mother, Keela Buckley-McGrew, declined to comment 'at this time' when contacted by IndyStar on Wednesday night. She explained in April she has lived in the Fishers district the past two years and wanted to make the transfer due to proximity to school for her son. 'I'm able to get him back and forth to school easier and my job is closer,' she said at the time. If the McGrew family chooses to appeal the IHSAA decision, it has 30 days to submit the appeal to the IHSAA review committee. McGrew attended Smoky Hill High School in Aurora, Colo., as a freshman, before moving to Indiana prior to his sophomore season. He averaged 10.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots a sophomore on a Lawrence North team that went 25-4 and won a 4A regional championship. Fishers won the Class 4A state title two years ago and was the runner-up last year, losing by one point to Jeffersonville in the state championship. The Tigers return junior guards Jason Gardner Jr. and Cooper Zachary, but graduate most of the other key contributors from that team.

Padres Land All-Star Red Sox Outfielder In Loaded Hypothetical Trade
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. There have been a lot of rumors swirling around Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran ahead of the trade deadline. Most of these rumors link Duran to the San Diego Padres. Could a deal come to fruition? FanSided's Chris Landers recently pitched a blockbuster trade idea that would send Duran to the Padres in exchange for Jeremiah Estrada, Boston Bateman, and Romeo Sanabria. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JULY 18: Jarren Duran #16 of the Boston Red Sox in action against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on July 18, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JULY 18: Jarren Duran #16 of the Boston Red Sox in action against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on July 18, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois."Duran is the ideal target for San Diego, someone who can fill the gaping void this team has in left field both this year and beyond," Landers wrote. "And it sounds like the Red Sox are at least open to moving him if the price is right and allowing Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu and Roman Anthony to become their everyday trio. "And it's hard to overstate the impact Duran would have for the Padres, who have arguably the worst left-field situation in the entire sport right now. He's not as good as he was in his breakout 2024 season, but he's warming up of late, and he's a reliably above-average bat with tremendous athleticism in the field and on the bases." There's not a better left field solution for the Padres than Duran. Not only does the young star have the talent, but he's not a rental, which makes him especially valuable to San Diego. For the Red Sox, they might need another prospect to make this deal worthwhile. Estrada would be a huge piece to add to the team, but beyond that, the prospect return isn't quite worthy of landing a star like Duran. The Red Sox aren't being forced to trade the former All-Star. If they move him, it's because they're blown away by a trade package. The Padres make a lot of sense as a landing spot, but the front office is going to need to pony up some prospects to make it happen.
