Tamil actor Krishna among two arrested in drug case
Tamil actor Krishna was arrested by the Chennai police on Thursday in connection with drug abuse charges. He was brought in for questioning on Wednesday, June 25. Earlier this week, actor Srikanth was also detained by the Nungambakkam Police.Alongside Krishna, alleged drug peddler Jesveer, aka Kevin, was also arrested. So far, seven individuals have been taken into custody in the case, including Prasad, a former AIADMK functionary. All are reportedly linked to a pub brawl that took place in Chennai.advertisementThe police stated that Kevin was found in possession of 0.5 grams of cocaine, 10.3 grams of methamphetamine, 2.75 grams of MDMA, 2.4 grams of OG ganja, and 30 grams of ganja.
In a statement released by the police, it was revealed that Krishna had purchased drugs from Kevin, consumed them while sharing with friends, and was in contact with known drug users through WhatsApp. The findings are supported by scientific evidence, including traces of money transactions.During the investigation, police uncovered the involvement of drugs, prompting a deeper probe that may potentially implicate more members of the Tamil film industry.Following his arrest, Srikanth's blood samples were reportedly collected and sent for testing. Surprise checks on RTA offices reveal ₹2.7 lakh in unaccounted cash
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seized over ₹2.7 lakh in unaccounted cash during a series of surprise checks carried out across Telangana on Thursday (June 26). The raids targeted RTA check posts, RTA offices and Sub-Registrar offices, exposing several irregularities in the functioning of these departments. A total of ₹1,81,030 was recovered from the Salabatpur RTA check post in Kamareddy district, and RTA offices in Peddapally, Trimulgherry and Uppal. The unaccounted amount was found during routine verifications, which also revealed procedural discrepancies. In a parallel operation, ACB teams inspected Sub-Registrar offices at Burgumpadu in Khammam district and Bheemadevarapally in Warangal district, where ₹91,000 in unaccounted cash was seized. Authorities noted that several irregularities were observed during these inspections as well, and a report will be sent to the government for appropriate action. The ACB has urged the public to report any instances of bribery or corruption through its toll-free helpline 1064. Complaints can also be submitted via WhatsApp on 9440446106, or through the ACB's official handles on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). The bureau assured that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
