Bokaro: The body of a 35-year-old man was found hanging from a 120-ft 132 kV electricity transmission tower of the DVC located at
Pupunki Jolhadih
village on Sunday.The deceased was identified as
Vijay Soren
, a native of Naudih village under the Tundi police station in
Dhanbad district
. He was living at his Pupunki Jolhadih-based in-laws' house and working as a daily wager for the past year.The officer in-charge of the Chas Mufassil police station, Prakash Mandal, said, "Initial indications suggest suicide, but the actual cause will be confirmed after investigation.
The body was sent for post-mortem."Locals spotted the body early in the morning and informed the police. Upon arrival, the police sought help from the electricity department to cut the power supply before retrieving the body.

1 2 Bhubaneswar: A murder accused sustained bullet injuries in a police encounter near Khandual under Dhanupali in Sambalpur district in the early hours of Tuesday, a day after he and his brother allegedly murdered a youth and fled. Police said the accused, Md. Samad and his brother Md. Wasim of Motijharan under Dhanupali police station limits, allegedly stabbed Asfaq Khan around 10 pm on Monday following which a case was registered at Dhanupali police station under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) BNS on the written report of the victim's brother, Jabij Khan. A special police team was formed to nab the accused. Acting on intelligence inputs, the team traced Samad near Khandual. "On being challenged, the accused opened two rounds of fire at the police party. The team retaliated with controlled fire in which Samad sustained a bullet injury in his left leg below the knee," said police in a statement. The injured accused was immediately shifted to VIMSAR, Burla. Police have seized one 7.6 mm pistol and a black motorcycle from the accused. Police said Samad has criminal antecedents. Mangaluru: Uppinangady police arrested a man in connection with a chain-snatching incident reported on June 4 at Nellyadi, Padubettu, where two unidentified persons on a motorcycle forcibly snatched a gold chain from a woman. The accused is Abdul Rehman, 31, a resident of Aletty, Sullia. A case was registered under Section 309(4)(b) of the BNS. According to police, he was arrested at Nekkiladi in Puttur and produced before the court. A gold chain worth Rs 4.5 lakh and the motorcycle used in the crime were seized from the accused, taking the total value of recovered property to Rs 5 lakh. Officials also discovered that the motorcycle was reported stolen, and a theft case was registered at the Vijayanagar police station in Mysuru. The arrest was made by a team from Uppinangady police station led by circle inspector Ravi BS, under the guidance of DSP of Puttur sub-division Arun Nagegowda.
