A Disney Theme Park & Resort Is Coming to Abu Dhabi

CairoScene07-05-2025

The first of its kind in the Middle East, the new Disney theme park and resort will join Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and SeaWorld on Yas Island.
Yup, it's official—Disney is setting up camp in Abu Dhabi.
The Walt Disney Company is teaming up with Miral, the developers behind Yas Island's blockbuster attractions, to bring a brand-new Disney theme park and resort to the UAE capital.
Set along the sparkling shoreline of Yas Island—already home to Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and SeaWorld—the upcoming Disney resort will mark the brand's first-ever theme park in the Middle East and its seventh destination worldwide. Think of it as the magical missing puzzle piece in one of the world's most entertainment-packed islands.
So, what's coming? While exact details are still under wraps (we're crossing our fingers for Aladdin's Agrabah in real life), the resort is expected to include classic Disney-style rides, immersive lands, themed hotels, and experiences where you might just run into Elsa, Buzz Lightyear, or even Moana by the water's edge. And yes—Mickey and Minnie are on the guest list.
Imagineers (Disney's legendary creative wizards) will be working hand in hand with Miral to bring the dream to life, blending beloved Disney storytelling with Abu Dhabi's futuristic skyline and deep cultural heritage.
No opening date has been confirmed yet, but one thing's for sure: Disney in Abu Dhabi is no longer a fantasy.

Miley Cyrus Reveals Disney Banned Her from Performing ‘Hannah Montana' Songs After End of Show: 'I Wasn't Allowed To Sing Them'

Yara Sameh Miley Cyrus is opening up about her music career after she left Disney following her run on the 2006 hit sitcom "Hannah Montana." In a new interview, Cyrus explained why she had not performed the songs she popularized on the Disney Channel series, such as 'Best of Both Worlds.' 'After I left Disney, I wasn't allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music,' she said on Spotify's The Ringer podcast. 'It's not like I wanted to, I mean performing 'The Best Of Both Worlds' between 'We Can't Stop' and 'Wrecking Ball,' wouldn't have really made sense," Cyrus continued. 'It was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn't allowed to sing them.' However, when the superstar was honored as a Disney Legend in 2024, things changed and she was permitted to perform those songs again. 'After being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool,' she added. Following her run as the star of Hannah Montana, Cyrus looked to reinvent her image and caused uproar in a series of performances and public appearances. In 2013, she performed at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she twerked on Robin Thicke during the performance of 'Blurred Lines.' During her acceptance speech of the Disney Legend honor, she apologized to Mickey Mouse for her 'malfunction' era, saying, 'I definitely wasn't created in a lab and if I was there must've been a bug in the system which caused me to malfunction somewhere between the years of 2013 and '16. Sorry, Mickey.' read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan

'Freakier Friday" Trailer Is Here

Yara Sameh The official trailer for Nisha Ganatra's 'Freakier Friday,' starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, has finally been unveiled. The movie is a sequel to the 2003 comedy 'Freaky Friday,' starring Curtis and Lohan as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman. According to a press release from The Walt Disney Company, the sequel features a 'multigenerational twist,' with the pic picking up many years after Tess and Anna originally swapped bodies. Anna has a daughter of her own, plus a soon-to-be stepdaughter. Tess and Anna navigate the challenges that come with merging two families and 'discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.' Joining Curtis and Lohan are returning stars Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. 'The Acolyte' star Manny Jacinto, 'Never Have I Ever' breakout Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sophia Hammons and Julia Butters have joined the sequel. The original movie, based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel of the same name, follows Tess and Anna, a mother-daughter pair. Tess, a widowed mother, is prepping for a big wedding while musician Anna gears up for a gig that could make or break her band. When the two receive a mystical fortune cookie that causes them to swap bodies, they're forced to accept each other unconditionally. Disney officially announced in March 2024 that the sequel was moving forward, with Ganatra directing. The filmmaker and screenwriter has helmed episodes of Hulu's 'Welcome to Chippendales' and Max's 'And Just Like That…' and directed feature films 'The High Note,' starring Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross, and 'Late Night,' starring Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson. Andrew Gunn, who produced the first movie, is producing the sequel alongside former Disney exec Kristin Burr, with a script from 'Dollface' creator Jordan Weiss. The sequel is set to release in theaters on August 8. Taking a walk inside a 19th-century Bab El Louk home with a rooster on the roof and stories in its walls. Jun 04, 2025 This 19th-century house in Bab El Louk was built by Muhammad Faidy Pasha, director general of Awqaf under the last Khedive Abbas Helmy. The home served as a family residence for generations, then became student housing before returning to the family in 2013. Its three floors have clear functions: the first floor for offices and guests, the second for bedrooms, and the third for visitors. The building's French-style architecture is topped with a distinctive rooster-shaped weathervane.
