Wighton was hit with a grade 2 charge after he was sent to the sin bin for a shoulder charge on Sharks forward Toby Rudolf, who left the field and will miss a match after he failed his head injury assessment.

The veteran playmaker will challenge the suspension and likely argue that it was merely a head clash, with Souths hoping he can avoid a ban given they are already missing so many injured stars.
Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Cameron Murray and Campbell Graham were just some of the big names who missed the Sharks game, with Junior Tatola set for a stint on the sidelines after he dislocated his shoulder in the dying minutes.
Five players were charged out of Sunday's fixtures, with Tom Starling, Ethan Strange, Toff Sipley, Siosiua Taukeiaho and Jaeman Salmon all facing fines if they accept the early guilty plea.

Meanwhile, Dragons superstar Teagan Berry is facing a two-match ban after she was hit with a grade 3 dangerous contact charge for sliding in with her knees as Broncos winger Kerri Johnson scored in the corner.
The foul play resulted in a potential eight-point try and Berry was sent to the sin bin. It could cost the Dragons dearly, with the NRLW's greatest try-scorer risking three matches if she fights the charge and loses at the judiciary.
The Sharks are also set to be without Jaydika Tafua for 2-3 matches after she received a grade 3 charge for dangerous contact while trying to tackle Claudia Nielsen.

West Coast Eagles confirm Harley Reid's season over after western derby ankle injury
Harley Reid's second AFL season has ended four games early, with the West Coast Eagles confirming their rising star will miss the final month with an ankle injury. Reid was helped off the field late in Saturday's 49-point loss to Fremantle after he injured his ankle in a tackle. He had kicked two goals. Coach Andrew McQualter said after the game the 20-year-old would be sent for scans. They have revealed he suffered a syndesmosis injury, often referred to as a "high ankle sprain". The news comes amid intense speculation in AFL circles about the long-term playing future of the highly regarded Reid, who was the AFL's number one draft pick in 2023, and whether he will return home to his native Victoria. The loss of Reid is not the only bad news for West Coast, who are languishing at the bottom of the AFL ladder with just one win for the year. Scans have also confirmed their top draft pick last year, Bo Allan, has played his last game for 2025 as well. Allan, who played in a WAFL premiership with Peel Thunder last year, has also suffered a syndesmosis injury. "Like Harley, Bo Allan got his foot caught up in a tackle at training on Thursday and suffered a low-grade syndesmosis injury," Inness said. "Once again, due to the time of the year, this will rule him out for the season." Allan, 19, managed six appearances in his first season. There was better news for key defender Harry Edwards, who was withdrawn from the Fremantle game after experiencing hamstring tightness during the warm-up. Inness said the club was hopeful Edwards would be available for this weekend's game against Melbourne.

Annabel Digance files lawsuit against SA premier, claiming she was a victim of prosecution
Former South Australian MP Annabel Digance has launched a $2.3 million lawsuit against Premier Peter Malinauskas, claiming that he led a "malicious prosecution" in an attempt to damage her reputation. Documents filed in the Supreme Court by Ms Digance, against Mr Malinauskas and the State of South Australia, claim the former MP was a victim of a prosecution "motivated by [the premier's] own personal and political advantage". Ms Digance and her husband, Greg Digance, were previously facing blackmail charges in the Adelaide Magistrates Court after allegedly threatening to make allegations of misconduct against Mr Malinauskas in 2020 — when he was leader of the opposition. Those charges were dropped in April 2023. The court documents, filed by Sydney-based law firm Carroll & O'Dea Solicitors on behalf of Ms Digance, claim she was "maliciously prosecuted" by Mr Malinauskas, SA Police and the Director of Public Prosecutions. "The Applicant also alleges trespass to person and property, wrongful arrest and false imprisonment by the SA Police," the document reads. The document goes on to claim that Mr Malinauskas was "motivated to maximise his own and SA Labor's prospects of success at the 2022 state election" and that he, or a member of the SA Police, had provided information to the media in an attempt to "maximise the public humiliation of Mrs Digance". In a statement to ABC News, the premier said he was not surprised by the lawsuit. "It is not surprising the Digances have chosen to take this course of action, considering their previous behaviour," he said. "All I have ever wanted is for the Digances to leave me alone. "The Digances won't distract me from delivering for the people of South Australia." The case is due to be heard in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Hoffman labelled Woods a 'coward' on the ABC for calling Queensland coach Slater a 'grub' before Game 2 of the series this year. Hoffman's comments were centred on claims Woods had asked Slater to take a photo with his son Buster earlier in the season before he later slammed the Origin coach to create an Origin narrative. The claim originally came from former Origin forward and NRL360 host Gorden Tallis who took aim at Woods labelling Slater a grub ahead of Game 2. But Woods has now clarified the situation with the alleged photo, which occurred at Magic Round while commentating for Triple M. The entire ordeal looked to become a major talking point among league fans as Queensland rallied after the saga to come back and win the next two games and take the series shield back from NSW. The story blew up particularly with Slater's response in which he suggested Woods was unaware of the mental health concerns his words could have on people, controversially referencing late Maroons coach Paul Green, who suffered from CTE. It left Woods admitting he felt partially responsible for the whole situation. 'A little bit. I was so confident because Game 1 I don't even think NSW played well,' he said. 'To win up at Suncorp, to be up there in enemy territory and the way they played, I would've thought we'd go to Perth quite excited. 'You go over there and then the performance in that first half, I was just like 'oh my God, far out, what have I done here?' Just really stirred the pot.'
