New Louis Rees-Zammit footage emerges as Welsh star finds out his chances

New footage shows former Wales international Louis Rees-Zammit's in training with Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Welshman has spent the last few months back in the United Kingdom, spending valuable time with family and friends.

However, pre-season training is under way and Rees-Zammit is back Stateside ahead of another campaign in the NFL. Sign up to Inside Welsh rugby on Substack to get exclusive news stories and insight from behind the scenes in Welsh rugby.

New footage posted by the Jaguars shows their stars back on the training paddock. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence could be seen pinging throws to his team-mates, and one of those was Rees-Zammit.
The Jaguars' number 89 can be seen making a catch at around 48 seconds into the clip below.

The man from Penarth also attended the Jaguars' voluntary off-season workout at the Miller Electric Centre in mid-April, so remains determined to develop as an American football player.
On Thursday this week the Jaguars revealed their pre-season schedule, which revealed what opportunities Rees-Zammit and his fellow fringe team-mates would be getting in the coming months.
Jaguars will play Pittsburgh Steelers at home to kick off their schedule, with a further two matches against New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins before the regular season begins in September.

Jaguars v Steelers - August 9
Jaguars v Saints - August 17
Jaguars v Dolphins - August 23
Pre-season will be a very exciting time for Rees-Zammit, who will get an opportunity to express himself after a season of not playing.
Before he was cut by the Kansas City Chiefs, Rees-Zammit got his opportunity to play pre-season games with them, getting his first taste of American football in a genuine elite-level scenario.

The British & Irish Lion then signed up with the Jaguars as a member of their practice squad. He had the opportunity to be elevated to the main roster throughout the season, but was not elevated once.
The first campaign was more of a learning curve for Rees-Zammit, who will be hoping he can get his chance this season.
Following the culmination of the season, where Jaguars performed poorly, Rees-Zammit was left without a club again, albeit a common occurrence in NFL.

Jaguars picked him back up shortly after and signed him to their active roster - a significant development for the Welshman. However, at the end of April, Jaguars confirmed they had changed his status from an active roster player to International Player Pathway player.
This news came after Jaguars signed two undrafted players in Rees-Zammit's position - wide receiver.
There are currently around 90 players on the Jaguars roster. At the end of August, that will be trimmed down to 53 active roster players and a 17-player practice squad, with the latter including a special place for an IPP athlete.

Fellow IPP class of 2025 athlete Patrick Murtagh, and friend of Rees-Zammit, may have been competing with the Welshman for that IPP place, but the Australian was cut by Jaguars last week.
NFL expert Phoebe Schecter confirmed to WalesOnline earlier this year that NFL teams can only designate a player in the special IPP place on the practice squad for two years.
Therefore, if Rees-Zammit is selected as the IPP player on the practice squad again this season, that will be the last time he is eligible to be placed there. In that situation, in the 2026/2027 season he would have to be selected like any other player does.

Welsh choir formed just 16 months ago gets immense booking and some still think it's a wind up

Welsh choir formed just 16 months ago gets immense booking and some still think it's a wind up People have been telephoning to check, convinced it can't be true The Principality Stadium, Cardiff, ahead of the Wales vs New Zealand autumn international in 2022 (Image: Mark Lewis/Huw Evans Agency ) A male voice choir which didn't exist 16 months ago will be performing at the Principality Stadium ahead of the Wales vs New Zealand autumn international, and some pre-match nerves are starting to kick in. Matthew Bailey, of Cor Meibion Clydach, said they would be one of three choirs singing together, including performing the teams' respective national anthems ahead of kick-off. Cllr Bailey, a Swansea councillor who represents Clydach, said two choir members phoned him to ask if it was a wind-up. "They said, 'All joking aside, are we actually going to sing at the Principality Stadium?'" he said. Cor Meibion Clydach has performed Christmas and VE Day concerts in front of around 400 people - somewhat fewer than the Principality's 74,000 capacity. "It is a great honour," said Cllr Bailey. "Its Wales-New Zealand - a massive game." For our free daily briefing on the biggest issues facing the nation, sign up to the Wales Matters newsletter here He reckoned the choirs would sing around eight songs and then the national anthems. "There is an element of nervousness," said Cllr Bailey. "You're probably never going to get this opportunity again. You've got to perform. It would help if we could have a couple of drinks beforehand!" Cllr Bailey, who last year resurrected what had been a successful male voice choir in Clydach in the past, said he'd been in touch with an official who arranged choirs at the stadium and that he received an email last Thursday saying Cor Meibion Clydach was one of the three selected. He said Cor Meibion Clydach member Wayne Griffiths had sung at the stadium previously with his other choir, Morriston Orpheus, Swansea, and described the experience as "completely emotional". "I am really looking forward to it, and everybody is in the choir is as well," he said. "Standing on the pitch in front of 70,000 people, singing - I will be an emotional wreck." Mr Brunton, 58, who used to play second row for Vardre RFC, Clydach, said the All Blacks were the biggest test for any Wales rugby team. They haven't lost to Wales since 1953. Cor Meibion Clydach has been guided and improved by musical director Gareth Sims and his accompanist wife, Julie. Cllr Bailey said it was up to 38 members and could accommodate more. Speaking in April he said he used to listen to and help the previous male voice choir before it disbanded many years ago and that he'd regretted not joining it. "Everyone tells me singing is good for the soul and well-being," said Mr Waghorn . "I thought, 'I'm not going to miss out this time.' It's one of the best things I have done."

Rangers star Nicolas Raskin praised for Belgium impact

The hosts were cruising in Brussels after goals by Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans and Jeremy Doku had them in a 3-0 lead inside the opening 30 minutes. However, Craig Bellamy's Wales pulled one big right before half time from the spot, and this sparked a second half comeback which nearly saw the visitors leave with a point in the Belgian capital. That was until soon-to-be free agent Kevin De Bruyne struck just moments before the end of the game to give Rudi Garcia's men all three points. Read more: Raskin was subbed on after 75 minutes for Dodi Lukebakio. And his impact earned plaudits from his manager, as they escaped embarrassment at the hands of the Welsh. "Nicolas Raskin's entry was important because we needed fighters on the pitch," Garcia said post-match. "To give away a lead like that, I don't know if it's something mentally, but I'll talk with the players "They have showed that they know what to do in the first half. Now, they just need to keep that up for 90 minutes."

Late in the second half of the game at the Stade Roi Baudouin in Brussels reports emerged that a fan had fallen from the top tier of the stadium into the tier below. One group of fans said an ambulance at the stadium was treating the injured supporter who has been taken to hospital. They added some fans were 'clearly emotional' and in tears as concern grew for the injured person. Wales had more than 4,000 fans inside the stadium when the supporter fell from a higher tier into another group of supporters who were situated in the section below. Ian Hamer, who was at the game as a fan, told BBC Radio Wales that just after Wales scored their third goal "there was a loud thud just to our right and huge commotion in the lower tier. "Police, stewards, paramedics rushed into that area and three, four rows were cordoned off. "Word got around quickly that a Wales fan had fallen from the front of the top tier into the lower tier of the stadium and had landed, had sort of clipped some fans as he fell. Article continues below "The next sort of 15 minutes the paramedics were treating the man and eventually they took him out on a stretcher and brought an ambulance to the back of the concourse, blue lights flashing from where he was taken to hospital after the game. "Everyone's relieved to know that the man who fell is ok." The incident was not captured by TV crews covering the match, which Craig Bellamy's side dramatically lost 4-3 having come back to 3-3 from being 3-0 down inside the opening 27 minutes.
