Kotak Bank share price slumped 6% during Monday's trading session after the private bank reported a 7.57% decrease in consolidated net profit, amounting to ₹ 4,933 crore for the March quarter of FY2024-25 (FY25), largely due to increased pressure in the microlending sector.
The bank's core net interest income increased by 5% to ₹ 7,284 crore in the reported quarter, while other income rose by 7% to ₹ 3,182 crore. Customer assets grew by 13%, although the net interest margin significantly narrowed to 4.97% compared to 5.28% in the same period last year.
Additionally, on a consolidated basis, Kotak Mahindra Bank's total income declined to ₹ 27,174 crore from ₹ 27,907 crore in the fourth quarter of the previous fiscal year.
As per media reports, brokerage firm CLSA has changed its rating on the stock to "hold" from 'underperform', while also slightly increasing its price target to ₹ 2,225 from ₹ 2,125.
The firm has adjusted its profit forecasts for Kotak Mahindra Bank downward by 3% to 5% due to expectations of reduced Net Interest Income and increased Operating Expenditure (Opex).
Nomura has similarly downgraded its rating on the stock to "neutral" from its former "buy" rating, though it has slightly raised its price target to ₹ 2,200 from ₹ 2,110.
Nuvama has also downgraded its outlook on Kotak Mahindra Bank shares, bringing its rating down to "hold" from "buy," and increasing the price target to ₹ 2,350 from ₹ 2,040.
Kotak Bank share price opened at ₹ 2,110 apiece on the BSE, the stock touched an intraday low of ₹ 2,058.35 per share, and an intraday high of ₹ 2,058.35 per share.
According to Rajesh Bhosale, Equity Technical and Derivative Analyst at Angel One, Kotak Bank share price has seen a huge gap down and a follow-up selloff is seen in the morning session. 'With this, prices have slipped below 50-DEMA, and may remain under pressure in the near term. Previous swing low around ₹ 2,000 is likely to act as next support, whereas bearish gap around ₹ 2,180 is resistance,' said Bhosale.
Further, Anshul Jain, Head of Research at Lakshmishree Investments, added that Kotak Bank share price rejected its all-time high of ₹ 2,247 over the last two weeks, forming a failed breakout. Post results, the stock witnessed a gap-down followed by profit booking and fresh short positions. It is currently testing its 50-day EMA at ₹ 2,070, Jain added.
'A close below this level will signal a break in the long-term uptrend, potentially triggering a deeper correction towards ₹ 1,999 and even ₹ 1,890. Sustained weakness here could invite further downside pressure,' said Jain.

EasyMyTrip launches 'EMT Invest' to back profitable businesses to scale

New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): Online travel platform EaseMyTrip has launched 'EMT Invest' to partner with profitable, founder-led businesses that are ready to scale. In a statement, the company said that it is looking to partner with businesses that report a minimum profit before tax (PBT) of Rs 5 crore, have strong unit economics and scalable models, and operate in any high-growth sector. A key criterion is that these businesses must be promoter-led with full operational control and a clear need for growth capital over the next three to five years. To initiate the engagement, EMT Invest has invited interested companies to share their last two years of audited financials, cash flow statement, cap table, and a detailed 3-5 year business plan. EMT Invest's typical investment model involves acquiring a strategic minority stake of up to 49 percent, ensuring that promoters retain full control. 'Our goal is to create long-term value and prepare the company for significant milestones such as IPOs or secondary exits,' the company said. Investment structure and terms will be finalised during the second phase based on mutual understanding and regulatory compliance, according to the statement. Earlier on June 1, Founder and Chairman of the company Nishant Pitti said EaseMyTrip 2.0 story will be about growth in India's next big businesses. Taking to his social media handle X, EaseMyTrip Founder and Chairman posted that the company is 'looking for founders who need working capital to grow and where the popular travel platform can take up to 49 per cent equity.' The equity stake in such companies will come with a clear objective of helping scale using EaseMyTrip's 3+ crore customer base, brand trust, and digital infrastructure, Pitti said. EaseMyTrip says it is India's fastest-growing and the only profitable Online Travel aggregator, which is 100 per cent bootstrapped and listed on NSE and BSE. EaseMyTrip commenced its operations in 2008 by focusing on the B2B2C (business to business to customer) distribution channel and providing travel agents access to its website to book domestic travel airline tickets in order to cater to the offline travel market in India. Subsequently, by leveraging its B2B2C channel, the company commenced operations in the B2C (business to customer) distribution channel in 2011 by primarily focusing on the growing Indian middle class population's travel requirements. It later commenced operations in the B2E (business to enterprise) distribution channel in 2013 with the aim of providing end-to-end travel solutions to corporates. (ANI)

Sensex up 747 pts on 'jumbo' rate cut, eco growth thrust

MUMBAI: The sensex rallied 747 points (0.9%) on Friday to close at 82,189 points after RBI cut interest rate by 50 basis points (100bps = 1 percentage point), a move that market players feel has the potential to spur economic growth with loans becoming cheaper. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Banking and financial stocks led the day's rally that added about Rs 3.6 lakh crore to investors' wealth with BSE's market capitalisation now at slightly over Rs 451 lakh crore. Nifty closed 249 points (1%) higher at 25,003 points. Most market players said that although a cut in interest rate by RBI was almost a given, the quantum of the cut - 50bps against an expected 25bps - surprised most. Domestic funds led the day's buying with a net inflow of Rs 9,342 crore while foreign funds were net buyers at Rs 1,010 crore, BSE data showed. Dhiraj Relli, MD & CEO, HDFC Securities, said RBI's decision - 'a jumbo rate cut' - would provide significant market relief as this, along with the 100bps reduction in cash reserve ratio, is set to inject approximately Rs 2.5 lakh crore in liquidity by Nov, directly strengthening bank margins in H2 FY26 and fostering private investment growth.

Markets cheer RBI's jumbo rate cut; Sensex ends 746.95 points higher

Benchmark equity indices surged on Friday to post their biggest single-day gains in three weeks after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) trimmed interest rates by 50 basis points. The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 746.95 points, or 0.92 per cent, to settle at 82,188.99. The 50-share NSE Nifty reclaimed the 25,000-level and climbed 252.15 points, or 1.02 per cent, to settle at 25,003.05. Interest-rate-sensitive realty index soared 4.74 per cent, while auto index raced 1.50 per cent and bankex climbed 1.25 per cent. Friday's rally added ₹3.6 trillion to the market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms, which now stands at ₹451 trillion. With the latest reduction, the RBI has now cut interest rates by a total of 100 basis points in 2025, starting with a quarter-point reduction in February — the first cut since May 2020. Additionally, the RBI slashed the cash reserve ratio by 100 basis points to 3 per cent, a phased cut effective between September and December. These measures are expected to inject ₹2.5 trillion into the financial system. "Several external headwinds — ranging from US tariff policies and global trade tensions to sluggish worldwide growth and geopolitical risks — have weighed on domestic economic prospects, reinforcing the rationale for monetary easing,' said Dhiraj Relli, managing director and CEO of HDFC Securities. 'With enhanced liquidity and reduced borrowing costs, conditions are now set for sustained economic momentum and a market recovery. This stimulus could propel Indian equity markets beyond their current trading range, potentially pushing the Nifty past 25,000 and toward previous highs of 26,200," Relli added. The market breadth was positive, with 2,194 stocks advancing and 1,832 declining. Barring two, all Sensex stocks gained. HDFC Bank, which rose 1.4 per cent, was the biggest contributor to Sensex gains, followed by Bajaj Finance, which rose by 4.9 per cent. Bajaj Finance was also the best performing stock on the Sensex. "Monsoon-linked sectors such as fertilisers, agrochemicals, rural finance, and two-wheelers will be in focus, backed by forecasts of an above-average monsoon in 2025. We expect Indian markets to witness a gradual upgrade, supported by positive sentiment following an anticipated rate cut by RBI and optimism surrounding a potential US-India trade agreement with officials from both sides meeting in New Delhi this week to finalise the first phase of the proposed deal,' said Siddhartha Khemka, head of research, wealth management, Motilal Oswal Financial Services.
