Kuwait, China review progress on 22 joint development projects
الشؤون السياسية LOC15:06 12:06 GMT KUWAIT, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Mohammad Al-Mashaan chaired a meeting on Thursday of the Ministerial Committee for Following Up on the Executive Status of Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between Kuwait and China. The meeting reviewed the latest progress on 22 development projects outlined in the MoUs between Kuwait and China, with particular focus on strategic areas such as the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, electric power and renewable energy development, low-carbon waste recycling systems, housing projects, wastewater treatment infrastructure, and the development of free and economic zones. The chair of the ministerial committee conveyed the leadership's strong interest and directives to closely monitor major development projects, stay updated on their progress, and accelerate implementation in coordination with Chinese government entities. Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and member and rapporteur of the ministerial committee, Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat, indicated that meeting was part of regular follow-up on the executive status of the agreements and MoUs signed between the governments of Kuwait and China. He affirmed the continued commitment to taking all necessary measures and steps that would contribute to accelerating the implementation of major development projects in the country. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdulatif Hamed Al-Mashari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Acting Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr. Subaih Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizim, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Ateeq Al-Majed, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and member and rapporteur of the ministerial committee, Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat. ‘Kuwait beacon of stability, compassion'
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14: Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Zafar Iqbal praised the humanitarian and leadership role of the State of Kuwait, describing it as 'the embodiment of love, peace and humanity, and a true reflection of the spirit of 'Ahlan wa Sahlan'.' In a statement to the newspaper, Iqbal expressed his deep appreciation and admiration for His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah; commending his insightful vision, boundless generosity, and unwavering commitment to care for everyone living in Kuwait -- citizens and expatriates. He described His Highness as a leader who made Kuwait the beacon of stability, compassion, and prosperity in the region and beyond. He also disclosed that his recent meeting with Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah focused on new horizons for strengthening cooperation in the fields of labor welfare, humanitarian aid and social development. He lauded the dynamic and dedicated leadership of Al-Huwailah, stressing that such efforts are appreciated. He cited the appreciation from all residents of Kuwait for the improvement of people's lives. He expressed his gratitude to the Kuwaiti government for resuming the recruitment of skilled Pakistani workers after the hiatus, considering this gesture an evidence of continuous confidence in the competence of Pakistani workers. He proposed regular coordination between the Pakistan Overseas Employment Agency and the Ministry of Social Affairs to ensure the efficiency and transparency of recruitment processes and their responsiveness to the evolving needs of Kuwait. He applauded the initiatives of the ministry and the distinguished care provided to the Pakistani community, while commending the Kuwaiti cooperative societies as an inspiring example of community-based economic success. He proposed the exchange of expertise between the cooperative sectors in the two countries. He then invited the minister to Pakistan to personally assess the humanitarian and development projects funded by Kuwait and implemented in cooperation with Pakistani institutions. He praised the noble and steadfast role of Kuwait in all forums and in supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza, emphasizing that these efforts embody the deep commitment of the country to justice, compassion, and alleviating human suffering; such that it earned the respect and appreciation of the Islamic world, including the Pakistani people. The Pakistani ambassador praised the support that his country is receiving from the government and people of Kuwait, affirming the good relations between the two countries and his commitment to strengthening ties in all fields. Iqbal made the statement during the celebration of the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan. The Pakistani Embassy organized a flag-raising ceremony at its building, with a number of members of the Pakistani community in attendance. The ceremony included the reading of official greetings from the President of the Republic of Pakistan, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. In his speech, the Ambassador greeted the Pakistanis, while praising the 'founding fathers' whose sacrifices led to independence. He cited the victories of the Pakistani Armed Forces in the battle of truth. He urged the Pakistani community to work hard and with dedication for the progress and prosperity of their country. He lauded their contributions to the development of Pakistan and Kuwait. The celebration included the participation of children and a number of Pakistani singers who performed famous patriotic songs and other musical segments, as well as the cake-cutting ceremony for the occasion.
